PDP, the octopus, is spreading its ten(hundreds)tacles. Use your votes well, na true I dey tell you, |
Nsiman:And you love him on "basis"? Go and read your own posts and you will be sorry at the level of your own credibility. Let us debate FACTS on Goodluck Jonathan. You |
He will not leave easily. Like somebody said, when was the last time he heard an engaged tone on his phone or No from anybody! |
uglybetty:Precisely. Especially as you, an individual in Nigeria, know better than those people in Egypt what is in their best interests. |
^^^ https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-582664.0.html http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/3365.aspx Egypt's Muslims attend Coptic Christmas mass, serving as "human shields" Egypt’s majority Muslim population stuck to its word Thursday night. What had been a promise of solidarity to the weary Coptic community, was honoured, when thousands of Muslims showed up at Coptic Christmas eve mass services in churches around the country and at candle light vigils held outside. From the well-known to the unknown, Muslims had offered their bodies as “human shields” for last night’s mass, making a pledge to collectively fight the threat of Islamic militants and towards an Egypt free from sectarian strife. “We either live together, or we die together,” was the sloganeering genius of Mohamed El-Sawy, a Muslim arts tycoon whose cultural centre distributed flyers at churches in Cairo Thursday night, and who has been credited with first floating the “human shield” idea. Among those shields were movie stars Adel Imam and Yousra, popular Muslim televangelist and preacher Amr Khaled, the two sons of President Hosni Mubarak, and thousands of citizens who have said they consider the attack one on Egypt as a whole. “This is not about us and them,” said Dalia Mustafa, a student who attended mass at Virgin Mary Church on Maraashly Street. “We are one. This was an attack on Egypt as a whole, and I am standing with the Copts because the only way things will change in this country is if we come together.” In the days following the brutal attack on Saints Church in Alexandria, which left 21 dead on New Year’ eve, solidarity between Muslims and Copts has seen an unprecedented peak. Millions of Egyptians changed their Facebook profile pictures to the image of a cross within a crescent – the symbol of an “Egypt for All”. Around the city, banners went up calling for unity, and depicting mosques and churches, crosses and crescents, together as one. The attack has rocked a nation that is no stranger to acts of terror, against all of Muslims, Copts and Jews. In January of last year, on the eve of Coptic Christmas, a drive-by shooting in the southern town of Nag Hammadi killed eight Copts as they were leaving Church following mass. In 2004 and 2005, bombings in the Red Sea resorts of Taba and Sharm El-Sheikh claimed over 100 lives, and in the late 90’s, Islamic militants executed a series of bombings and massacres that left dozens dead. This attack though comes after a series of more recent incidents that have left Egyptians feeling left out in the cold by a government meant to protect them. Last summer, 28-year-old businessman Khaled Said was beaten to death by police, also in Alexandria, causing a local and international uproar. Around his death, there have been numerous other reports of police brutality, random arrests and torture. Last year was also witness to a ruthless parliamentary election process in which the government’s security apparatus and thugs seemed to spiral out of control. The result, aside from injuries and deaths, was a sweeping win by the ruling party thanks to its own carefully-orchestrated campaign that included vote-rigging, corruption and widespread violence. The opposition was essentially annihilated. And just days before the elections, Copts - who make up 10 percent of the population - were once again the subject of persecution, when a government moratorium on construction of a Christian community centre resulted in clashes between police and protestors. Two people were left dead and over 100 were detained, facing sentences of up to life in jail. The economic woes of a country that favours the rich have only exacerbated the frustration of a population of 80 million whose majority struggle each day to survive. Accounts of thefts, drugs, and violence have surged in recent years, and the chorus of voices of discontent has continued to grow. The terror attack that struck the country on New Year’s eve is in many ways a final straw – a breaking point, not just for the Coptic community, but for Muslims as well, who too feel marginalized, oppressed, and overlooked by a government that fails to address their needs. On this Coptic Christmas eve, the solidarity was not just one of religion, but of a desperate and collective plea for a better life and a government with accountability. |
eewule:Most muslims. There are 1b of them. and you can talk about 510million people? If most are murderous, do you think anybody can walk freely in any place where there are muslims in the majority Some violent places have majority christian population |
mummy3:When the minds of people are made up on negative things, they will not face up to facts. Tell me, have christians ever fought themselves? Actually it is ignorance on the part of christians that is the greatest threat to peace. Muslims are under obligation to protect their allies. But look at the larger picture, the christians for their own sake at that rally. The muslims are more. If they allow the pro-mubarak overwhelm the muslims, they (the christians) will be swiftly despatched Also notice that the pro-mubarak thugs were firing into the square at night. I am not sure that the bullets could distinguish between the christians and the muslims. So those in the square are in the same boat - muslims and christians Now ask yourself - have you ever had a muslim classmate in Nigeria? Did they ever come to your rescue in a fight? Or did they gang up with muslims from other schools to attack you? Be honest! |
Ify27:Go and read my posts. Let us be realistic - christians only believe negative things about Islam. Last week, there was a post about a gay being killed in Uganda. There was nothing about religion on that thread. If it happened in Tunisia - it would be Islam, Islam. Yet 85% of Ugadans are christians while in Tunisia (since 1956) you cannot marry more than 1 wife! I cannot really believe that muslims will be so violent and they are more than 1million in this country and we are not in perpetual turmoil. A christian whose father was a muslim said here 99% of muslims are cold-blooded murderers. Will I entruest my life to such people. Yet they paint such a sanitised picture of christians you would think that there would be no crime wherever you find christians If my life is in danger, I seriously doubt if a christian would help me, going by the posts here. I am not talking about misunderstanding. I am talking about systematic, deliberate maligning of muslims. I know there are christian armed robbers. Such would also come here talking about how wicked muslims are |
Navi:Exactly. Christians friends of IRA, Jukun christian friends of Tivs (vice versa), christian friends of ETA (spain) plz take note |
Yinkade:It is interesting that people know so little about Islam and pronounce authoritatively. ‘Imraan ibn Husayn said: “I had haemorrhoids and I asked the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) about that. He said, ‘Pray standing; if you cannot do that, then (pray) sitting; if you cannot do that then (pray) on your side.” Saheeh al-Bukhaari |
thweraja10:Looking at the posts here, it is foolish for muslim to entrust his life into the hands of christians. The trademark of christians in Jos is to kill and dump the corpse in wells (Kuru Jenta, Jan 2010 and recently the wife of a STF commander). Without corpses, it is difficult to see the iniquities of chrsitians |
bigdoo:Nobody can fault the academic brilliance of Soludo. And he is a prof while Aganga is not! However this comparison of Oxford and UNN na wa. So how many nobel prize did UNN get at that time compared to Oxford? How many world class books did UNN lecturers author compared to Oxford? |
If Bakare says that no, let us do it this way, because God told me What will happen? |
Will the Ijaws protect the Itsekiris like this? Christians have a sanitised view of christianity that has no relationship with reality. Who make the most weapons? Who has caused the most wars? Who have killed the largest number of people = christians Nigerian christians in particular will tell you thou shall not judge when you are talking about christians but they judge and abuse muslims all the time Look at the posts here, even if a muslim kills himself to protect a christian, some will not believe it, some will be happy that, yes, that is one muslim less. Only a few will believe it Kindly show me where christians have condemned any bad acts of christians If somebody from Mars came upon this thread, he would be wondering why there are even police stations with homicide divisions in predominantly christian areas |
Segeorex:All muslims do not pray at the same time when they are under attack. This is not to dispute the post but to correct a wrong impression. |
9ja voice:Will America or any country with majority christian population accept a better qualified muslim US or fellow countryman president to rule them after the incumbent vacuate the seat ? the answer is "NO". That woundn't happen. Democracy is by number by the way. From our history, it is said that the SW did not allow Zik to rule in them while Zik on the other hand did not allow somebody from SS to rule in SE 9ja voice:When did Mubarak become US/Israeli ally? Yesterday? Is that the reason why they protested in Tunisia? or are protesting in Yemen, Jordan, Algeria? Because all those are US/Isreali ally? Why do christians like to spread falsehood so much |
Beaf:Johnathan became Acting President on Feb 9 2010 (upon which he reconstituted the cabinet and changed the national security adviser. You cannot do that without real powers!) - that means in a week or so he will be 1 year old in office. Thank God people posting here were old enough to know this |
calaway:You are rasing a lot issues and contradicting yourself If the hausa leopard cannot change its skin, what is the essence of saying I should go and appeal in the mosque If you continue to insist that christians cannot sit back, then do you think hausas will listen to any appeal for truce? So why are you saying my people anyway? Why do you think it is only the issue of cows that will make people fight So you think christians are not killing women and babies - the wife of that STF commander is a woman Look at the link that I posted and show me if christians have been the victims ALL the time Now what media should I use since you have discredited AP and SR. Please do not quote Nigerian press - they kept very quiet when Muslims were dumped in wells last year but made sure they gave full coverage to the reprisals in march As for drawing the first blood - read this story. I Actually read it first in Next when the people were still surrounded and they sent a text message to anybody who could help them get a message across I also saw the email by the owners of zamani Farms at Kuru jenta http://carmenmccain./2010/01/23/massacre-at-kuru-jentakuru-karama/ http://234next.com/csp/cms/sites/Next/Home/5514478-146/jonathan_orders_troops_to_jos_religious.csp |
calaway:You are mistaken. Who is claiming to be smart. You started an anlysis in your post but ruined it because of bias. When there are silent killings by both sides, what do you call it? When muslims dress like christians when going to christian-dominated areas and vice versa, what is that. When a hausa electoral officer being escorted by soldiers is attacked and killed, what is that? You think all these will happen in Lagos, Abakaliki, Makurdi now. I posted links to show that hausas have been victims, it does not matter. We must keep insisting that it is just the hausas, the hausas only. During Ijaw Itsekiri war, were the aggressors hausas, in Umuleri/aguleri? ife/modakeke? Face reality, anybody attack reprisal attacks after fighting gets to a point. And this cycle continues. Blaming one party as you are benton doing will never solve the problem So it is only the hausas that have been attacking since over 10 years ago? What about the people dumped in the well. Let us acknowledge facts of life and human behaviour. Do you know that I have observed that it is very, very difficult for a christian to admit that christians have done anything bad. Yet there are a lot of criminals in the SE. I used that example because christians dominate the region. Does it occur to you that they regard themselves as christians? Do you know that people like them may be in Jos? I am not exonerating anyone. To find peace, we need to re-examine our assumptions In that situation, desire for vengeance is overwhelming. If I carry away a christian's taxi and he knows where it is, what do you think he will do? Do you think that while coming to my area in an environment of silent killings, he will not arm himself. Forget the fact that the person is a Nigerian, anyone will not enter a dangerous place without weapons and the person will use it if attacked. That is human nature. Is that what happened in Jos, I don't know. But I am sure that the hausas tried to recover their cows and they wnet on that mission armed. You will notice that people carry guns all over Jos now - irrespective of tribe and religion. Do you seriously think that you are more civilised than me. Do you think it does not take a re-orientation to kill children? Do you think it is everyone who has taken a life in error or deliberately that will be able to sleep soundly at night? Forget writing on the internet and cheering one side, real lives are bring lost. Dreams are being truncated, hopes are bing dashed, widows are being made, sorrow continue to deepen, warm faces are being replaced with bitter and spiteful, mien. These are realities in a lot of homes. Has it occurred to you that hausa victims also include babies and women? Do you think my response justifies killing women and children. My point is this - if you cry about women and children of one group, you need to do that for the other. Otherwise you act in accordance to the southerner's views held that hausas are no better than their cows. From this position, the hausa will not also see you as human beings. Again, my point is that fighting to death never solves any problem. It just fuels the next round You believe that hausas are always the aggressors. Is that confirmed? During the civil war, we assumed that everybody in the North was the aggressor. Now we have identified the sole aggressor as the Hausa. Consistency please You are talking as if I live in Jos and I can call anybody to order. When you say if left unchecked these killings will allow the hausas kill every soul. Now how do you reconcile these two positions. Every time you take action to check the other party or teach him not to mess with you, he has a fresh reason to attack Look at this http://www.hrw.org/en/news/2011/01/27/nigeria-new-wave-violence-leaves-200-dead |
ddc machine:There was a state of emergency in Jos when Obasanjo was President! Boko Haram first took on the Nigerian state under Yaradua. Tell another lie. Limaoscar:Blakanisation! Forget it. My own person must rule over the entire 6 GPZ before any breakup! |
calaway:A lot of clever but UNTRUE arguments. People fight over several things - insult, women, resources etc. In the present situation in Jos, if the Hausas steal anything belonging to the Beroms, the Beroms will arrange to recover it. So going after those cows is to be expected. You cannot take another person's means of livelihood and expect to keep it without the owner doing anything about it. And will the hausas seek to recover those cows without carrying arms. Even in the best of times, nobody will do that let alone a time of war when you are going into enemy's territory Condemning only the Hausas will serve no useful purpose at this stage. There are now silent killings everywhere. Ibos are sending their wives and children home already. The commander of STF has been a victim http://www.burningpot.com/frontpage/2246-jos-wife-of-task-force-commander-murdered You will notice that the idea of hiding corpses is modus operandi of the christians. It was first noticed in a year ago http://thenationonlineng.net/web2/articles/33671/1/Jos-crisis-150-corpses-found-in-village-wells/Page1.html http://www.reuters.com/article/2010/01/23/us-nigeria-clashes-idUSTRE60M0RR20100123 Turning to Jega. You are certainly biased. Jega was appointed in a rush after the Americans forced Jonathan to sack Iwu. Of course Jega has got the money he wanted. Let us not forget that ordering that large number of DDC machines within a narrow time window put INEC at the mercy of the suppliers. If they fail, Jega is done for. And we know that Avante has defaulted. We are still in January when the registration should have ended, yet the machine came into this country this month. Let us assume that they came in by 1st week of January, INEC had only 1 week to train those guys before deploying them by 15 of January. This is not just about money Let me tell you another thing about the problem INEC is facing. They could not do any redelineation of centres. They simply adopted the centres inherited from Iwu. So you find people in built up areas having more machines than newly developing areas. You can register in Yaba in minutes but not so in Ogijo - a suburb of Ikorodu. People have been lenient with Jega because of his pedigree not because he is Hausa. Afterall, you guys keep calling his fellow northerners Atiku, IBB thieves forgetting that have done their bit too in damaging this economy. |
adconline:Of course becoming gay is the way to go, isn't it? Is that what catapulted Chinese economy to no 2 or Japan to no 3? Nigerians living abroad often reject anything Nigerian as long as it contradicts what they are led to believe in the west. I did not see any hue and cry from Ukrainians when the govt refused the adoption request by Bono and said that they did not believe that Bono (and his partner-in-crime) was married in the eyes of Ukrainian custom. Nigerians living in the west want to belong, quickly embrace aberrant ideas, look down on the customs of their country, posture as being civilised. But I have not seen what this set 'with their superior intellect" have contributed to shape the thinking of the "new society they belong to" |
manny4life:It is not murder - it is execution. People are put on the electric chair, injected with substance all the time as part of criminal justice administration If people don't like justice, they should not cross the judicial system |
eldee:Ok. Please can you enforce my neighbour's "right" to marry his 21 year old younger sister or to ravish his dog, or pump the corpses that he watches over at Atan cementary. Please be tolerant Right, my ? They don't have it. They should just take hemlock! |
queensmith:Of course every group wants to sell its perversion to people. You can sleep with 13 year old in Spain, Comoros and Burkina Faso. Of course I cannot imagine the children of a deceased not feeling severely aggrieved if they catch a man pumping their dead mum. Homosexuality carry more health risks. They transmit infections faster. Some of them have to wear diapers. Just go to any nearby HIV/AIDS centre and take statistics. We depend a lot on foreign aids to fight HIV in Nigeria queensmith:Uganda has been among the rare HIV success stories, one of the reasons being openness.[35] In the 1980s, more than 30% of Ugandan residents had HIV; this had fallen to 6.4% by the end of 2008, the most effective national response to AIDS of any African country In 2000, Uganda was included in the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) debt relief initiative worth $1.3 billion and Paris Club debt relief worth $145 million. These amounts combined with the original HIPC debt relief added up to about $2 billion. In 2006 the Ugandan Government successfully paid all their debts to the Paris Club, which meant that it was no longer in the (HIPC) list. Suppose the Ugadans do not want to become "London". There is a trade off for most things. Suppose the preservation of their way of life is more important than a rapid increase in GDP. BTW the Ugadans have received more commendation than most countries for their battle against HIV/AIDS. Perhaps their commendable stance against homosexuality is part of the strategy fro curtailing HIV prevalence. And the argument that until ALL their problems (including natural disasters) end, they must tolerate an idea that will snowball into huge social and economic problems in the future to fester is silly Ugadans have the right to hate homos and their deadly lifestyle |
olojoro:What is wrong in hating perverts who argue that perversion is normal? If they admit they are sick, the issue can be dealt with like other forms of afflictions. But they say no, if you are opposed to us, you must be secretly gay. So that argument makes everyone opposed to homosexuality closet gays the same way defence of properties make vigilante groups looters at heart. |
queensmith:Important things like? And you are the judge of what they should focus on? While "millions of clueless Ugadans" cannot identify their priorities, you with your supehuman intellect can. Right? Babalegba:Please go to your country of ever-do-wells. And please take your fellow gays along |
kosoro:This is also a satanic argument. terrorists kill for various reasons - ETA in spain on account of ethnicity, Tamil Tigers for same, IRA for religion/ethnicity etc. Don't mix up issues If a society says it doesn't want drug dealing, faggotry, armed robbery etc, doing away with the guilty is not senseless killing or murder; it is justice |
johnkent:The suicide should be committed by the homos. And where was this census taken? At whose instance? Who funded it? How was the result disseminated. Your gay agenda shows, but keep it in the US. The country has enough landmass to take all Nigerian gays and more. |
SEFAGO:Your discussion is interesting. But you really need to focus it by opening a thread for it. A lot of people who would have benefitted from your discussions may not see it because they might be put off by the title of the thread |
