Health / LASEPA Refused To Help Us Against Noise Polution By Q8 by Rijkard: 5:29pm On Aug 17, 2021
Hello Nairalanders

Please help make this go viral so Lagos govt, through LASEPA can come to our rescue

There is an open bar on IDEWU street, Olodi-Apapa, the name is Q8. These guys play loud music from 5pm till 12midnight in a residential area.
The worst is that they make use of 2MCs that shout like mad animals. Once it is evening, we can't make calls, children can't read their books because of the noise pollution. They play all sort of bad music like TEKNO TOTO. These songs are affecting the morals of the kids, who innocently sing along and dance to the vibes.

We have complained and they refused to listen. A call to LASEPA (0815 045 8639) advised we complain on their website, we have been complaining there for more than 3 months, nothing is coming out of it. We can't use police because they are bed fellows.

Our only hope is a mass complaint on social media like this. Please help use by moving this to FP and sharing it extensively.

Romance / Re: Upcoming Wedding Palava by Rijkard: 5:30am On May 19, 2021
I can see you are naive, so I will drop this for you.

Be smart in your relationship with your wife. Never make it look like an outsider (even your mum) is the source of advise in your family.

When you get a good advise, like this from anyone, drop it like a suggestion to her and ask for her advise.

In this case, if your mum had advised her directly, she would have agreed and come to convince you.

Naturally, the one that contributes nothing, scrutinizes more, its a fear of irrelevancy.

Solution
Ask her to seek her mums opinion in this, that you both will then make final decision.

My advise, convince her to hold the 2 same day, that's a sensible thing to do!!!

BATCH C FINALLY BEGIN ORIENTATION AT MBAUKWU/UMUAWULU PERMANENT ORIENTATION

Awka, Nov. 9, 2019 (MOI) Anambra State National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has finally started operating from its permanent Orientation Camping site at Mbaukwu/Umuawulu, Awka South Local Government Area (LGA).

The movement, which had been delayed for many years, followed the non completion of the site.

However, the latest move to the new site was effected soon after most of the basic installations were completed.

Gov. Willie Obiano said that the camp would be fully developed after landscaping and internal roads network would have been completed for another batch this December.

Obiano said this while addressing corps members at the new site during swearing in of the 2019 Batch `C’ Stream 1 corps members.

The governor was represented by Commissioner for Youth Empowerment and Creative Economy, Mr Afam Mbanefo.

He noted that over the years, the scheme had been using the Progressive Senior Secondary School, Umunya, Oyi Local Government Area (LGA) as its temporary camping site.

According to the Governor the scheme has been an avenue for harnessing and mobilising the creative and productive energies of the youths of Nigeria for National development.

``Today, the scheme has lived up to its mandate as envisioned by the founding fathers, 47 years ago, by impacting positively on National development process.

``This can be seen in the education sector, healthcare delivery, rural infrastructure development as well as in the agricultural sector,’’ Gov. Obiano affirmed.

The governor, then, urged corps members to align positively with constructive developmental initiatives of the present administration in the state and the host communities.

Gov. Obiano noted his administration’s readiness to continue to support the NYSC scheme so as to make life comfortable for the corps members, as well as staff of the scheme.

Earlier in his speech, Anambra State NYSC Coordinator, Mr Kehinde Aremu, pledged the scheme’s readiness to continue to support the state government in areas of critical need.

He also said the service would ensure manpower deployment for healthcare delivery in rural communities and in agricultural extension work to boost food production in the state.

The coordinator acknowledged the invaluable contributions of the Anambra State House of Assembly in ensuring sumptuous appropriation for payment of the highest state allowances to youth corps members in Nigeria.

They also played the oversight function in seeing that corps members were integrated into their host communities.

No fewer than 1,851 corps members participated in the oath taking ceremony.

Parade and martial arts display added glamour to the event.

Dignitaries at the event are the Acting Chief Judge of Anambra State, Justice O N Anyachebelu and Commissioner for Lands, Mr. Bonaventure Enemali, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth Empowerment and Creative Economy, Mrs Louisa Ezeanya.

Security Chiefs, Royal fathers and top government officials were also in attendance. (MOI)

Family / Re: Who Owns Me? by Rijkard: 8:05am On Sep 13, 2016
I normally don't comment here, like reading the bashing and all the drama as a back bencher. But I will break my silence on this.

You would have made it easier for us by telling us your tribe. In all these, culture has a major role to play.

I will generally advise, but be sure my advise is rooted in my belief (which has root in my culture)

Your mother has a reason to be angry, more so as a woman. You believe she has made it hard for you to do the RIGHT thing? Nah, she has actually made the decision for you from your account.....She advised you to change your SURNAME!

That's it! you now belong to your dads family. What she is fighting now is you having a relationship with the family. By picking up the name, you are already a member of the family.

Be clear on one thing, the UGLY circumstance that made you change your surname will always play itself out if you don't go to where you belong.....your family. In view of this, it is important you belong to the family, beside bearing the surname! You must attend meetings and events, hear the family history and all that.

Your mother is mad because of what happened to her, she is right being mad, but you don't need to loose your lineage for that. Try your best to convince her, make her see reason why you need to relate with your dad's family. If at the end she still fails to see reason, go ahead and establish the relationship, you will need it in life.

Don't be scared of the curse she says she will lay on you, it has no effect (curses only work when you are in the wrong).

One more thing: A MAN BELONGS ONLY TO HIS FATHER'S FAMILY....

Kudos to your step-dad, he is a good man. Make sure he acts as your father during your marriage. He deserves it.

Politics / Re: The Notable Difference Between Jonathan And Buhari's Subsidy Removal by Rijkard: 2:06pm On May 13, 2016
I have watched and listened with rapt attention to arguments from both side.

By both sides I don't mean GEJ/PMB supporters. I mean those against or in favour of subsidy removal in 2016.

In 2012, many Nigerians resisted subsidy removal for certain reasons
1. A cabal has hijacked the program and fleecing Nigeria and by extension, poor Nigerians of the subsidy benefits.
2. There was then a total collapse of infrastructures like LACK OF CONSTANT POWER, NO GOOD ROAD etc. They argued that such removal will make life hard for Nigerians.
3. It is a failure of government to because of the cabal punish Nigerians, rather, FG should go after the cabals
4. Our refineries MUST be working optimally before subsidy removal can be implemented.
5. Lack of trust in the govt to make good use of the savings
Using the above points, the opponents of subsidy removal (mostly opposition members), it was legit to fight for reversal of the decision.

Fast forward, 2016. The total reversal of points of argument of the two groups, especially proponents (who opposed in 2012) is surprising at best and scandalous at worst.

So far, only supporters of subsidy removal in 2012 has been consistent, they are not opposing it now as a bad policy, they are opposing it because the proponents today opposed it in 2012....fair enough!

The surprise group in 2016 are those that opposed the plan in 2012, based on the aforementioned items. Very surprising because, beside trust from majority of Nigerians (and international community) on PMB as a person in this govt (Because you can't convince me Amaechi is not corrupt), the below points are still the same.

1. A cabal has hijacked the program and fleecing Nigeria and by extension, poor Nigerians of the subsidy benefits.
2. There was then a total collapse of infrastructures like LACK OF COSTANT POWER, NO GOOD ROAD etc. They argued that such removal will make life hard for Nigerians.
3. It is a failure of government to because of the cabal punish Nigerians, rather, FG should go after the cabals
4. Our refineries MUST be working optimally before subsidy removal can be implemented.

Some will want to tell me the refineries are working now, bros, at what % of installed capacity?

Question I need those in support of subsidy removal in 2016 to answer me:
1. If our refineries are working and outputting finished products, what will be the price of such fuels? (they are not part of the landing cost calculation)
2.If you calculates the landing cost based on 298Naira to 1$, will you recalculate when the exchange rate hits #450 (very soon, already at #351)
3. If the dollar keep rising and you keep recalculating landing cost, how will the cost come down as they want us to believe?

THE ANGLE GOVT MISSED
There is pressure on fuel and what happens to it because govt failed to provide constant power, making SMEs and homes to depend on fuel on daily basis. Any slight change in the price has ripple effect. Until govt finds solution to power issue, they should not thinker fuel subsidy removal. You will agree with me that when subsidy was removed from diesel, not many Nigerians knew or cared about it.

SHAME OF A NATION
It is shameful that as a nation we are wasting some quality time discussing fuel subsidy removal. We have no business importing fuel! The previous govts from 1990 failed to understand the shame of such importation. It is equally shameful (frustrating to say the least) when you remember the promise of CHANGE from APC concerning how things are done.
Some APC supporters will want to pin this whole on past govt. Don't even go there! This govt is 1 year old. It takes 9-12 months to complete new refinery and less than 6 months to complete turn-around maintenance on existing ones. Giving APC some slack, I expected them to have given us a plan on how to genuinely stop fuel importation by now. Give us a plan of hope of completing new refineries and getting old ones to optimal production in 9 months time and there will be less argument on fuel subsidy removal.

MY STAND
I opposed fuel subsidy removal in 2012 based on conditions not being right for such move. That positions have not changed now, even in the face of all the SWEET PROMISES.

Politics / Re: Etsu Nupe Accused Of Forcefully Converting People To Islam by Rijkard: 10:45am On Jul 25, 2013
Its so unfortunate that we are discussing this sort of thing in Nigeria. In a sane clime, Etsu Nupe would have been speaking from behind bars and in cuffs too.If you convince someone to convert to your religion, good for ya, but kidnapping and preventing her from seeing her people is wickedness. I once use to go work in Bida and heard stories of Etsu Nupe hypnotizing even peoples wives (beautiful ones), I use to doubt such stories, but now that the man brought it up here, it made a whole lot of sense. The police should go investigate the allegations against him. What sort of muslim marries more than 4 wives? and some people will come here to defend him, just because you have been blinded by religious sentiment does not mean we are all the same.
