In all our powerful, ancient societies - Egypt, Nubia, Benin, Oyo, Ghana, Ashanti, the igbo republican states, Kanem, Zulu, Shona etc, God and his deities were always portrayed as black. Some of those kingdoms predated European states and christianity by thousands of years, and clearly got on just fine under the notion of a black God. What happened? How come most of us today see white entities in our mind's eye when we envision the Supreme Being and/or those associated with him?
