As Islamic State extremists call for random murders throughout Europe in Allah’s name, the continent’s Muslims are hitting back with mass peace demonstrations and a Twitter campaign to say “not in my name”. From Norway in the far north to Germany and France, Muslims have taken to the streets to denounce the IS jihadists controlling large areas of Iraq and Syria who they say have hijacked their religion and terminology to spread hate and breed violence. The IS group are “terrorists and murderers who drag Islam into the dirt and bring hatred and suffering to the people, including to their own fellow Muslims, in Syria, in Iraq and elsewhere,” said Aiman Mazyek, chairman of Germany’s central council of Muslims. Along with other Muslim groups, Mazyek’s council organised last week a day of prayers and rallies across Germany, which is home to around four million Muslims, mainly with Turkish roots. Similar marches have taken place in Norway and Denmark under the banner “say no to the (non) Islamic State.” Other Muslims have taken to social media to combat the Islamic State group, which itself has used Twitter effectively to recruit potential recruits. The London-based Active Change Foundation has started a hashtag campaign #notinmyname that has spread rapidly across Twitter. “Tell the world that ISIS are the real enemies of Islam. London - As international military action builds up against the Islamic State, a British Muslim association is taking on the jihadists through Twitter with the campaign #notinmyname. The push by the Active Change Foundation includes a video of young people and its director, Hanif Qadir, speaking out against extremism and holding up placards with the hashtag. “Young Muslims are adding their voices to the fight-back against ISIS,” the association said on its website, using a name for the Islamic State group that is widely used in Britain. “Let your voice be heard rejecting the ideology of hate,” it said, accusing the group of “hiding behind a false Islam”. The video, which has been shared more than 83,000 times on YouTube, begins with a young woman in a colourful headscarf saying: “ISIS do not represent Islam or any Muslim.” It follows with responses from a variety of young people including one man in a suit and tie saying, “Because what you’re doing is inhumane,” and another man in a T-shirt and a jacket saying, “Because they’re killing innocent people.” “Because you have no compassion,” Qadir himself says. The campaign is one of several that have cropped up on Twitter against Islamic State, including one with the hashtag #BurnISISFlagChallenge — a take on the popular Ice Bucket Challenge featuring the IS group’s black flag being set alight. www.vanguardngr.com/2014/09/british-muslim-group-takes-jihadists-twitter/ |

President Obama has hailed the support of Arab nations in air strikes on Islamic State (IS) militants, saying: "This is not America's fight alone." He was speaking hours after the US and Arab allies launched their first air strikes against IS in Syria. Activists say at least 70 IS militants and 50 other al-Qaeda-linked fighters were killed in the strikes. Syrian officials say they were given advance warning of the strikes, but the US state department has denied this. President Obama confirmed Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Bahrain and Qatar had taken part in or supported the strikes. He said the US was "proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with these nations". The Pentagon said warplanes, drones and Tomahawk cruise missiles were used in the strikes. HQ targeted IS has seized large areas of Syria and Iraq, and the US has launched nearly 200 air strikes in Iraq since August. But Monday's strikes expanded the anti-IS campaign across the border into Syria for the first time. The strikes targeted the group's main headquarters in its stronghold of Raqqa, north-eastern Syria. IS training compounds, vehicles and storage sites were also hit in several other areas. President Obama said al-Qaeda-linked militants, known as the Khorasan Group, were also targeted in Syria. "We will not tolerate safe havens for terrorists who threaten our people," he said. He warned that the operation against IS would take some time, but that he would do "what is necessary" to defeat the extremists. Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said he supported any international efforts to combat "terrorism" in Syria, state media reports. "Syria will continue to resolutely fight the war it has been prosecuting for years against... terrorism," he said, after meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi in Damascus. http://m.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-29333348 |

(CNN) -- The airstrikes Tuesday took place in the ISIS stronghold of Raqqa, a U.S. official told CNN. It's the first strikes against the terror group inside the country since President Barack Obama's announcement this month that he was prepared to expand the American efforts beyond targets in Iraq. All foreign partners participating in the strikes with the United States are Arab countries, a senior U.S. military official told CNN. Those nations include Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Jordan. Diplomatic sources told CNN that Qatar was also involved, though it was not clear whether Qatar actually conducted airstrikes itself. The U.S. and "partner nation forces" began striking ISIS targets using fighters, bombers and Tomahawk missiles,Pentagon spokesman Rear Adm. John Kirby said, though he didn't specify a geographic location. Citing the ongoing operations, Kirby said the Pentagon would not provide additional details immediately. But a U.S. military official said the strikes are meant to target the ability of ISIS to command and control, resupply and train. Western allies rejects ISIS leader's threat Tomahawk missiles launched from the sea initiated the strike, followed by bombers and fighters, a senior U.S. military official told CNN. The goal with this first move is to have an initial, definitive blow, the official said, describing the pace of the operation as intense. Most of the spots hit were hard targets, like buildings, a senior U.S. official told CNN. "This is the punch in the nose to the bully that we talked about on the playground," former Delta Force officer James Reese said. "ISIS is the bully, and we just punched him in the nose." Until now, ISIS has been able to take over cities and operate in Syria with near impunity. Now,it's coming under attack. With the airstrikes, the United States enters a new level of engagement in the ongoing Syrian civil war. Obama had resisted U.S. military action in Syria, but as the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq made sweeping advances in both Middle Eastern neighbors, calls for such a step grew. "I have made it clear that we will hunt down terrorists who threaten our country, wherever they are," Obama said in a September 10 speech. "That means I will not hesitate to take action against ISIL in Syria, as well as Iraq. This is a core principle of my presidency: if you threaten America, you will find no safe haven." The message of the speech was clear -- it was a matter of when, not if -- the United States would carry out airstrikes inside Syria. A U.S. intelligence official said that while law enforcement is aware the airstrikes against ISIS in Syria could incite a response, there is no evidence to suggest any terrorist strike is in the works against the United States. Last week, U.S. officials told CNN that the military had everything in place it needed to strike ISIS inside Syria and was awaiting Obama's go-ahead to do so. For weeks, intelligence and military targeting specialists have been working around the clock on a list of targets, the officials said. It is unlikely that the President reviewed all the targets individuall, but was presented broad guidance with analysis about the risks of bombing inside Syria, as well as the rewards in terms of attacking ISIS. http://edition.cnn.com/2014/09/22/world/meast/u-s-airstrikes-isis-syria/index.html?hpt=hp_t1 |

sciyhf: More importantly, from our bible Christians never fought wars. They rather allowed themselves to be persecuted while preaching the word, they cud have slaughtered all that persecuted them rather they followed the teaching that blessed are those who are persecuted for God's sake. Not slayed unbelievers. They went to prisons, brutally murdered etc but never rioted let alone went to war.You are ignorant, and i dont have to waste my time with you, i asked some questions on the number (1) page of this thrread, please address them if you want me to take you serious |
sciyhf: You did a good thing posting that atleast we now know all Muslims are not terrorists but I think u Muslims still have a lot of work in teaching dos that don't understand. If 1million misunderstands then the quran is not straight. So go and teach boko haram and sadan Hussein.Okay, if the buybull is straightforward why do we have over 5000sect in xtianity ![]() Meanwhile, if 1million fanatic individual misundrrstand the Quran among over 1.2billions in the world, do you think we can tagg those 1.199billions as a fanatic group ![]() sciyhf: My second point is,there is a diff bw Judaism and Christianity. Also Saul war and biblical wars were not religious like that of the quran where they were ordered to slay the pegan or unbelievers, even if it is war then it is a religious war.Is the jewish God different from that of xtianity ![]() Bible OT ordered for killing of those who worship another god aside God of Israel otherwise pagans - Yes or No ![]() sciyhf: I have never read the quran anyway and would love to read it but I see Islamic religion as full of violence because of what I see the islamistd do and not what I hear. I guess u cud not handle the peaceful teachings of Jesus Christ. You can't just conclude that islam is full of violence with the actions of a minority radical peeps |
