DuBLINGreenb:

It’s an easy way for them they don’t know about “investing” investing in what exactly?
All investments in Nigeria are bad investments EXTREMELY RISKY investments. Not worth the time and money.

In Nigeria I and my friend were surrounded by 4 guys who came out of a grey colored taxi holding guns, we were in uni we were wearing uniforms heading home after lectures on a sunny afternoon these guys robbed us of our phones not worth which had a combined value of less than $500
I lost an old Samsung in a taxi where the driver knew where I entered from and got off at he never returned that phone to me it was a driver very familiar with the route and his customers because they were mostly students and market women due to the route

In The abroad I lost my phone I knew nobody I called lost and found apparently someone picked the phone up and handed to the driver, driver gave it to transit, transit sent it to city lost and found. My phone passed more than 5 peoples hands at the time it was the latest iPhone not 1 of them stole the phone Oyinbo wey I no know till today I don’t know 4 out of the 5 I never met them to thank them.

My wallet with some cash, my bank cards, drivers license etc went missing same thing not $1 was missing despite passing many hands

Why do you think this is?
I will tell you what I think, these people have what you have or even more, if they don’t have it they can EASILY get it, So why steal it.
Since I came here when someone says you’ve got to try xyz restaurant it will not take 1 week I done try am 2 times why? Nobody who works and is willing to work is without work for 1 year or more. And nobody with a job is paid less than 20,000 naira daily impossible.

So everybody can afford Netflix, food, rent (even if you rent the cheapest oldest house they have standards they must met to be occupied by tenants), car/bus, phone. Even the poorest in your school, job, church can afford these things here. In Nigeria that’s not the case.

So it is clear that If hunger and lack of infrastructure are dealt with I can ASSURE you with my balls, my life that crime will drop by half atleast. The incentive, the reason, the drive to commit crime for money will be greatly reduced especially for new up and coming criminals old takers wey e done already dey their body fit continue based on that’s all they are used to but new ones will see the risk isn’t worth the reward. Someone offered me 2,000,000 naira to commit a crime I turned it down how many people in Nigeria will be offered 2,000,000 naira to commit financial crime and will turn it down ? 🤣 they will start thinking of the Toyota, Lexus or Benz they will buy but me I’m thinking 🤔 is 2,000,000 I can make that money in 2 to 3 weeks of genuine work and I am not hungry nor desparate for money so greed is the only thing that can make me accept the offer and for me my greed isn’t that high, I mean the money is not worth me losing my freedom and ability to earn that money in 2-3 weeks

As a middle class or rich man almost every crime will cost you something even your freedom is worth something to you you have places you want to be, babes you want to see, foods you want to try, clothes you want to wear, series you want to watch basically you have things to look forward to.

but of what use is freedom to an extremely poor man who has no food, no money, no entertainment, no future, no joy, nothing to look forward to. They can’t even afford a meal at a restaurant or a visit to the cinema. So what in the life of a Fulani herdsman is preventing him from stealing a farmers crops? The cattle aren’t even his he is herding it for one Alhaji.
What is stopping the bus conductor from stealing your phone? Other than morality and good conscience NOTHING ELSE.

Imagine someone abroad committing a silly crime and getting deported to Nigeria. What will people say? Feel free to type what they’ll say
The pictures, the opportunities for a better life, the surrounding, the freedom, the everything is enough to make you not want to do something that will make you to return to a country with lesser freedom, more dirt roads, no access to credit facilities, healthcare etc.
So you won’t want to fork up and get deported

is not worth When I was with my rich village people I never felt like they’d steal anything they had what I had they weren’t going through my stuff asking me what is this? What does it do? Dash me na!

Rich folk stayed with us and we stayed with them no complaints no physical fights only play fights no stealing, they never stole anything all our memories together as kids include jumping on bed, playing vidoe games, action figures/figurines, listening to iPod, mtv, their dads driving I and my brothers back home at night and but when my parents brought poor village people to stay with us their parents taxed us, the children stole from us and even stole from the neighbors 🤣 no chill they got into stewpid fights over nonesense like caprisone being shared in church 🤣 cake etc it was wild
Whereas in the rich folk home we got to request whatever meal we wanted and the cook would make it for us we didn’t fight over food at the rich folk home the way the poor guys would fight over food in church or even rush while eating at home and would hear stuff like “no need to rush like that we still have more in the pit if you want” and the kid would say yes I want more 🤣 those kids taught me how to eat fast.

The country I reside in now bro I dey keep phone inside car with door open nobody dey even look my phone. If is iPhone 11 Pro Max nobody send why steal when nobody will buy or even use stolen goods for free.
Nobody will risk their freedom for an old model iPhone when they can walk into any store pay money they got from working ‘3 hours in one day’ and start a payment plan where the network provider will collect 1 or 2 hours pay from their salary every week for 1 or 2 years to pay off the phone.

They can do the same for house and car and almost every other big purchase even small purchases you can make part payments using certain payment solution providers so why risk jail when all these are available to you?
Someone offered me a car a 2024 Jeep wrangler 4x4 a car I will pay $400 as initial deposit and then pay $300 every 2 weeks to own this brand new car
And I earn over $400 a week so in 2 weeks I earn over $800 (I don’t want to give exact figures) but I earn more than twice the amount (I am not a fan of jeep so I refused and it’s a little on the high side I can get a good brand new car for $200-$250 every 2 weeks) but my point is these are available so why would I need to go and keel a child or pay $80 for someone to keel child for me to use for r!rials to become rich and be able to buy the latest Benz or keep or Lexus ? 🤷🏾‍♂️
When you can pay $380 every 2 weeks for a 2020 Mercedes Benz GLC AMG even for someone earning minimum wage if rent and car is all you want you can tie your stomach and afford it.

In essence people have something to lose by going to jail. They lose their ability to get a job as easily as they can now they lose their ability to get loans and mortgages and many other stuff why throw all that away for an old iPhone or car ? 🤷🏾‍♂️

Not to say there are no thieves at all here but think about it if we all made 1,000,000 naira every 2 weeks we all had our favorite car brands and we all lived in comfortable homes and we eat well do you think we would steal from each other, keel each other for r!Tula we aren’t even sure will work, will we do all these things as much as we do now

How about when we all beg to pay rent, we eat 010, we trek if we are lucky we catch a bus once in a while. The temptation to risk it all is more in one scenerio than it is in another.
Because in one scenario we have nothing we are scared of losing. You wake up angry because you have nothing to eat. You are angry and heartless because you failed in life everyone else must fail, you are used to seeing peoples he@ds and arms cut off in cult clashes so you are now desensitized.

If Oyinbo see half the grotesque, gruesome things the average Nigerian has seen and smelt and felt. Oyinbo go vomit, faint.
How many of them have seen human head in the middle of the road in a black bag? How many of them have seen human remains lying by the side of the road? Or smelt blood and death in the dry harmattan breeze on a warm Friday afternoon ?

It’s because Oyinbo of have not experienced the poverty and lack we have experienced until Ukraine war. So they are more relaxed, less religious, less hardened and brutal as we and our leaders, police and military are.

This explains why crime is more in poor countries, crime is more in poor cities, poor neighborhoods than it is in the richer areas. Most places that are exception to this rule like some parts of India is because of UNDER REPORTING of crime. My ex who was an Indian girl told me how when you go to report r@pe at a police station the police will tell you that the investigation will be public they will ask you how many times you’ve had sex, they’ll ask you how the r@pe happened you’ll have to describe it in detail and you’ll have to say the truth and all this will only bring Shame to your family and no man will want to marry you if they hear this story in the news or see it on police record they will tell you this straight up in their station so most girls after hearing this will decide not to report the r@pe case in the station imagine.

So many rape victims are pretending not only that they have never been r@pęd but that they are v!rg!ns so that their family name will be preserved and they will get husbands due to the toxic culture they come from, I lived in Jigawa and Kano they have similar thing going on there too.

In the west nobody is afraid that if I report no one will want to marry me again infact they are too confident that they even falsely accuse people now.
So the west has Over reporting
While the undeveloped world has under reporting.

Poverty encourages crime
Poverty is used as an excuse or justification to commit crime by criminals
Poverty tempts people

Take away poverty and it will affect crime in one way or another.
Check USA, South Africa, all of the gulf Arab nations.
Poorer regions are less secure, if a neighborhood is poor and some rich investment bankers buy it over upgrade it build expensive houses immediately crime goes down.
But if the neighborhood is rich and government takes it over to make a mass cheap affordable housing scheme crime goes up why
Poverty is the major factor.

You just listed the problem we have in this country and the apparent solution to it.

Ladydee30:
Hi everyone pls I have a question about the Japanese visa…. I applied on Wednesday and all my documents where complete and well submitted but few minutes after leaving the embassy I got an email from the embassy saying all documents are complete except I didn’t attach the COE application form to the other supporting documents used to obtain my COE from my employer, that I need to attach that so I replied to them saying my employer applied for my COE online hence there was no physical application form but I did attach the receipt of the application that was sent from the immigration saying my application was received and is being processed but I can’t help but worry if that will affect my chances of getting the visa

And also my employer has to reach out to the immigration if they could issue an application form but they said that would take one month so right now we are just waiting for the final verdict from the embassy. should i be scared or worried.

I will appreciate any response that would help pls

I think it would have been more okay if you had gone there with a print out of the scanned copy of the receipt you talked about

Politics / Re: VAT Revenue Rose From ₦‎347bn To ₦‎549bn Under Tinubu – FAAC Report by RisenJoe(m): 7:12am On Apr 27
But speaking with Saturday PUNCH, a former chairman of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dr Muda Yusuf, said there was a strong connection between the increased VAT revenue and the hike in the prices of goods in the country.

He said, “Of course, there is. You know the VAT is a percentage of the price of those things. And in many cases, prices have doubled recently. For instance, if something costs N100 and the VAT is 7.5 per cent, but if the same thing is now N200, that means the VAT proceeds will double.

“It is like that for practically all products that are ‘vatable’. So, there is a very strong correlation between the increases in the prices of goods and services and the VAT revenue.

😂😂😂 The FG is enjoying and the poor Nigerians are bearing the brunt of Tinubu's heavy taxation

😂😂😂, what's the essence of tax if the citizens bear the brunt and not the establishments or companies you are trying to tax.

However, the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission on Friday, April 19, 2024 attributed the prevailing hike in the cost of goods in the country to multiple taxations and transportation costs.

You removed fuel subsidy and instead of making use of the money saved, you decided to increase taxation thereby making the suffering double.

It's in America's interest to maintain peace in the middle east, cos any conflict there will certainly disrupt oil production and transportation thereby increasing the price which will favour Russia well well.

Omoo, this matter tie wrapper ooo but we all know the tendency of nigerian army to instigate trouble where ever they go though i dont support the killings of our armed forces.

I remember what the armed forces did when they did operation python dance in the SE against IPOB even when the group was yet unarmed, how they disgraced, humiliated and killed nigerians who where excercising their constitutional right of free association.

Many people dont know this but that python dance was a turning point in the SE, needlezz deaths has been recorded on both sides of NA and IPOB right from that time till now, just because some people in uniform wants to flex muscle.

The same thing still happened at lekki toll gate where innocent nigerians where mowed down by those who swore to protect them.

I love the armed forces but those trained for war and to kill have no business in settling communal disputes(thats the common sense) . We have civil defence and police, ( but that doesnt give those people the right to kill our beloved army men).

Let the army people withdraw from their to avoid putting petrol into fire cos violence begeth violence of which creek boys are more than capable to return fire for.fire, we dont need any more lose of livez.

maidstone:
Most of the replies above show that you guys aren't into management or business administration. When a business entity comes up with this sort of promo, often, it's not about you the customer. It's about the company's wellbeing.

Most companies, especially, supermarkets, would prefer Option A because Option A will help them to shift more goods. As in sell more goods than Option B

As regards Option B, most customers would prefer that as they most likely came in to buy 1 piece of the item on promo anyway. Most wouldn't need 2

Thus, Option A will be more impactful on the bottomline of the company in question

Honestly Nigeria and nigerians needs to be studied as a special course in university, what is happening in nigeria is 20× more than what caused Arab spring that led to destabilisation of most middle eastern countries yet we still dey gidigba.

Our elected politicians are making a huge mistake by not tackling this insecurity bedevilling the country because they think our resilance as citizens are topnotch which is true but they also fail to realize that we are reaching our breaking point of no return of which may lead to total disintegration of their cash cow(nigeria).

Last time was about police brutality, this time will be about something far terrifying than police brutality.

To before warned is to before harmed,

Nigerians are in every country on this earth, so no politician should think they are safe, that they will escape when they have finished destroying and setting the country ablaze.
