Business / Re: Why Dangote Closed His Tomato Factory And Lessons You Can Learn From It by rmx1: 9:27pm On May 12, 2018
LordKO:
Small-mindedness is a very big disease globally. It's very easy for anyone who can easily gloss his/her ignorance with mastery of the queens language (or one's lingua franca subject to country of origin and stay) to turn to either a critic or motivational speaker. Articulate incompetents with handy mental parochial and feeble-minded supporters everywhere. SMH. See them casting aspersions on Dangote's personality/blueprints and celebrating the misinformation respectively.

For one, any player or stakeholder in the oil business knows that PMS refining constitues less than 25 percent of very many refinery products anywhere, Dangote's own inclusive. So, it smack of idiocy for anyone to erroneously and conclusively assert with boldness that because there's global "asumption" that electric cars are going to be the in-things in the foreseeable future automatically makes Dangote an unwise businessman. And the articulate incompetent of a writer that literally has no valuable productivity is automatically a wise one.

Manifestation of electric cars as the in-things in the foreseeable future can never have bad effect on Dangote's refinery. There's much to refinery than production of PMS. Let's all stop celebrating mediocrity.

About his tomato plant, the OP of that article is equally an articulate incompetent. The plant was originally set up more as an incentive/CSR/empowerment vehicle towards local tomato farmers - its temporary closure has nothing to do with poor feasibility studies on the company's part but has everything to do with local farmers/you jobless lots who failed to maximize the opportunity it present.

I agree with you and truth234 .Don’t know much about how his tomato business will turn out eventually but on the success of his refinery project it’s a no brainer it’s going to be a huge success like his cement business and before that his sugar refinery .very very high entry barriers and very few players and with the refinery maybe even a virtual monopoly ,don’t see much hope for the state refinery as they are now . Besides the project is more than a refinery , petrochemicals and fertilizer is inclusive

Told a friend years back this project will double dangote networth in little time . Privatizing the current refineries might jeopardize that a bit and offer necessary competition

@ fortified , am sure it's canton fair , it's held October and April at guanzhou every year , I have attended many
Now to your question , apart from the general invite every company sends to countless customers all over the world , that invite is not enough , ask them for a proper invitation obtained by them from there local govt in China , if you do good volume of business with them they will obtain this for you , this is what u will take to the embassy , being a regular travel will help also ,if not u might be rejected with this invite

Alternative u can go thru the route of most ibo traders , get a travel agency with links with the Chinese embassy , they will charge anywhere btw 300 to 500k , not sure of current rate

As par the trip to canton fair , u will get the opportunity not only to see the company u transact with but other companies doing same or similar products , also you will get to see other products not related to what u do that might give u future ideas , it's a huge fair , I guarantee if u stay for 2months u won't cover the fair ground , all the best

Btw nobody will buy your ticket or pay hotel bills

Some investors, in their apparent “wisdom”, would go on to even buy the shares. After all, a renowned American investor whom the world regarded as the greatest ever, had once said: “be greedy, when others are fearful and fearful when others are greedy”. It appears in hindsight, that he may had been quoted out of context. In Nigeria, things work differently.

I just could not stop laughing to the above

A very interesting and informative read , the company has been raped repeatedly, more liabilities than assets , over leveraged, over everything done to it , I doubt if any value remains there , with the way oil price is ,it's a question of time before the creditors come calling again , the 3 years stay of execution will not be enough, except they find another sucker to buy into there fraud they call corporate maneuverings

Family / Re: Most Women Respect Spiritual Leaders Than Their Husband - Bamisepeter's Blog by rmx1: 3:18am On Jun 26, 2017
bamisepeters:
Many men wonder why women are the largest part of any religious gathering not just in Nigeria but all around the world.

The truth is that many of them are so emotional than their male counterpart, this is why it take most of them time to get over break-up.

Religion is a way of life which must be taken emotionally or you get distracted easily, this is why it is so hard to convince a woman in love.

Because of this sincere emotion and passion the women have towards religious service they tend to respect the religious leaders more than their husband.

How many women will you see kneeling down to greet or serve their husband?

Whereas, they can even enter into the ground to greet a religious leader to show the level of respect.

Some women will appear to their religious leaders as saint when they just engaged in a duel of weapons with their husband.

Most women become actress at the sound of the voice of their religious leaders
They assume their religious leader to be god that they worship, they view them as a completely perfect being forgetting that they are also human being and servant of which anyone can be called no matter the age or gender.

The funniest part is that women even respect the female religious leader who is of same gender with them than their husband.

This is one of the causes of marriage failure for some union.

We really need to change our orientation about the way we see some things.

I remember listening to one religious leader who said that you have given him poison when you respect him while you disrespect the man that tied the knot with you on the altar.

He said if you cannot kneel down for your man don't kneel for him as this is common among women.

Though we all pretend at different instances. Men too have their issues, like those who through their innocence you will have deduced they haven't known any woman even after 4 children.

The issue of discussion for this post is women, so we shouldn't delve. Please change this bias attitude.

Your husband is even more important than the religious leaders as they can aid your commitment to God faster than you can reach your spiritual leader.

Don't forget if they don't allow you there will be limit to the belief, don't let them to start cursing the religious leader when you do to them(the religious leader) what you lack with them(your husband) at home or even outside, God is a jealous God let alone human being His creation

I believe hatcheries are trying to cut costs by not going for expensive boxes that will be discarded as soon an the birds get to their destination. My zartech chicks I got in January came in brown cartons but the fidan chicks I got last month came in a very beautiful customized carton.

Just out of curiosity, how much do u think is the difference BTW a plain carton and a branded one ?
Negligible if u compare ,even more so when u consider the value of the doc inside the box

Using customized is for branding ,to distinguish ur product and sell at a better margin .even though ur quality might not be better smiley

What I know is that you can not go wrong with docs from Chi, Amo, Zartech, Agrited. Tuns will be on the test on my small farm here.

One premature child found among my supply is a first red flag

Not saying tuns quality is not as good as the rest ,was just saying in terms of production output ,I don't think they produce up to the others ,I might be wrong

Interesting stats here. Are you the sole supplier of boxes? Why is box supplied to tuns not customized?
I am trying to look for a space to add docs from any Zartech or Chi and compare the performance practically myself. Some info gotten are from farms, vet doctors, dealers on poultry products and a contact at one of the hatcheries.

In terms of certification, Zartech and Tuns have the highest certification currently and also the only partners allowed to supply for example Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) chain. KFC is known to allow only the best to supply them.

Most of their supplies I think should be in supplies of frozen chicks to large outlets and not retail sale. The plant has an investment of above 8 billion naira. Find out more yourself since you have direct contact with them.

We are just 2 manufacturers of doc boxes that supply to those hatcheries, for one I supply alone ,so i have an idea of the volume each of them do
Tuns make both plain and customised single color ,what they use for what type of doc is something only they can answer
While people have there personal preference ,what I hear is chi chicks are generally considered the best and hence sell at the most premium and also have the most certification, for this they are the only ones in niigeria that rear grand parent stock along with obasanjo farms ,agrited and amo are presently in pursuit of that privilege
Like i said all this are hearsay from discusion with people in that industry and subject to confirmation

By the way I make branded doc boxes for a lot of hatcheries beyond that 5 ,also make a lot of plain boxes for smaller hatcheries ,and we arec still looking for more customers grin

I don't know but in my opinion, I would go with the biggest and certified hatcheries.
My personal best would include but not limited to Tuns, Zartech, Amo, Chi and Agrited

The two biggest producers of broiler in Nigeria are Chi and Tuns while the two highest internationally certified hatcheries are Zartech and Tuns.

Agrited has one of the advanced equipment in Nigeria capable of producing up-to 2,000,000 day old chicks per day.

Amo is known for good research and development program in their hatchery.

So the best will depend on individual choice, Obiageli. Hope my choice will not draw negative attention here kiss

While i am not an expert in this field of hatchery ,I do not think tuns is close to the others in terms of output or production

I say this because I make doc boxes for those five hatcheries

now quality ,types of doc ,hatchery type and certification are other matters I know little about

Nigeria has better fundamentals than Egypt, but even if we are to use 50%, that means the rate would fall from N306/$1 (today's rate) to N459/$1.

The major problem would be the impact on fuel prices, but the FG can combat that with increase of wages (which would be feasible since the earnings into the FG, State Government, and LG have been increasing and will increase). Nigeria's minimum wage is over due for review.

As for price of imports, well dollar fell to 520 and Nigerians didn't die.

The longer we delay, the longer we postpone the inevitable.

If we had done a full float when dollar was N250 in the official market, it'd have at most devalued to N375. Which is a rate the CBN is fighting to hold now.

There is no better time to act than now. Not tomorrow, not next year, not in the next decade. Now!

Sanusi, Riwane, Utomi, Soludo can't all be wrong. No one can be more patriotic than these people, and they've been calling for a float since the N199/$1 days. The FG and CBN were stubborn, yet they kept devaluing the rate first to N250, then to N306, early chatter is pointing to N350 next, and along the way they've been imposing unnecessary hardship on Nigerians, because investors who'd invest in the real sector have held back their funds, international organizations that'd give us the $30b loans needed to reboot the economy have held back (IMF, World Bank, even China).

Float the damn currency, yet APC is playing politics with the currency rate. Even to increase minimum wage, they've been playing politics discussing about it since late 2015. It's 2017, and it's clear they might want to announce an increase in 2018 to garner votes.

Speculators and hoarders are not the enemies, the CBN and FG are the enemies. They create avenue for the leeches to stay. Float the naira, and speculators and hoarders would pack their load. Foreign investors would come in with their billions of dollars and the pressure on the currency reserves will lighten. Saudi Arabia may have a show down with shale producers again, and we'll need a huge reserve to ride that wave, Russia, Canada, Norway, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, are ready, Nigeria is busy fighting with speculators. Imagine our priorities.

Egypt received $9b in direct investment inonly 3 months after the float. That's aside the $12b with super low interest rates (as against our costly EU bonds). And that's aside $3.1b in portfolio investments. To put that in perspective, the entire amount of dollars sold to all licensed BDCs in Nigeria in a whole year at $8,000 per week is $1.2b.

Nigerians will not learn. As Onatisi usually says, na until their neck stretch like streetlight before them go get sense.

At the bolded , told people then and since ,we could have taken the bullet once in July 2016 when the official rates were moved from 199 to 280 then ,I strongly felt if a true float had been done then ,it would have shot up to 380 max and subsequently settled BTW 320 to 350,black market or speculators would have been no more relevant

This protracted battle would not have been necessary

The govt is between the devil and the sea ,hard choices will be made sooner or later .I Pray gods wisdom is given to them and that am wrong

And what is the industrial capacity of Nigeria. Was it not in this same difficult circumstances that dabgote made his wealth as an industrialist , Innoson produces motor vehicles in this same economic environment , we have oil exploration companies in the SS and many Indian owned manufacturing companies in Ogun state.

I am a mechanical /manufacturing engineer by profession you can't bullshit me with that industrial limitations nonsense , what is lacking is a sense of purpose determination and laziness.

Most people would rather make a small importing finished goods than to establish a manufacturing unit for same product with the potential for greater gain in the future having taken a great risk. Yes the conditions are tough and it is emotionally tasking but if there is pride in one's effort it is possible

If it was so impossible why is Dangote establishing a tomato paste processing plant !

You my friend , are not far from the kingdom of god

U see further than most , it always amazes me how people do not see the obvious opportunities in manufacturing
Yes its long term ,but gain is sure especially in a developing economy despite all the infrastructure challenges ,I concluded a long time ago Nigerians are not willing to have long term investment, they want the quick gains of importation ,buying and selling ,and this is the reason Indians ,Lebanese and of recent Chinese are dominating and investing more in that sector .we have been in that sector for close to 30 years

I run 3 factories ,been using 1000 to 1200 liters of diesel a day powering 3 genenators and several boilers the past 3 or 4 weeks ,been a major fault in the town we are located ,all this are challenging no doubt but they will be overcome, and u know what ? In all those factories we have expansion work going on and even building new ones

And by the way i pray u get capital to start some thing ,no matter how small ,I like ur spirit ,people give excuses for everything

You never jam client.

They are not scammer and they would also be overwhelmed with the challenges that even you will just have to continue living. And allow thing unfold.

Na when you get experience you go know.

You are absolutely correct ,people must just realise there are different types of traders ,there are people that are outright scammers and there are traders living on the edge ,from hand to mouth ,making 1,2 or 3k from deals ,without any working capital or personal reserves for this set of people if they have any major or even minor financial challenges in there personal life ,rest assured your funds with them will be used or misappropriated embarassed ,its a question of time

Then there are traders that can accommodate setbacks and still pay u or go on with trades

I have said it before ,people cannot have online reputation more than what they have in real life ,its impossible , won't be surprised all the people mentioned will be owing friends ,family and even the corner shop mallam on there street

While no one wants to loose money ,every business or transaction carries a risk especially if u send first ,do ur due diligence and don't trade with money u can't loose if u go down that part .insist on escrow if u can't

God help us all
