Faithful007:
Many civilians shot by police was in a standoff situation. How many unarmed people have been shot by police in Nigeria? How much of it is documented?
Yen yen yen.
Do you live in US to know how many unarmed citizens have been by the US cops?
So are you telling me George Floyd was armed, because he was killed right? Or a young man killed on a highway in his car, few months after the killing of Floyd was also armed, right?
How about a lady that was killed, because she was fighting a white girl, was she also armed?
They are countless of videos that shows how unarmed citizens were killed in US.
You are very ignorant, and just a mere critics, don't ever quote me again, I have nothing to do with you.

Hoverbird:
On their own citizens as is the case with Nigeria?
America is not fighting war in his homeland, but their cops are killing a lot of American citizens, in their country, what would you say about that?
Are you also trying to tell me the citizens of other those countries American soldiers committed war crimes against are less of a human?
If insurgency break out in America, then you will see the records of US troops war crimes against it citizens.

I think NAF is more interested in replacing the Alpha Jet than procuring a Frontline jet.

The JF-17 is Chinese and shares quite a number of similarities with the J-10. I don't see NAF buying the JF-17 and J-10 at the same time.

NAF would be eyeing the JF-17 block 3, but the service considers an AH and replacing the Alpha Jets as more pressing priorities.

I don't think we would see additional JF-17 block 2 orders if NAF actually buys the M-346FA.
Yes, this is what I'm saying, I don't think we will see any additional JF-17 block 2 with NAF, block 3 is their target, and I think production will start 2022 or 2023, and it would be similar to the Chinese J-10C, with it AESA radar.
The iconic Alpha jets, need a well deserved rest, I don't think any country in the world has utilized the Alpha jets like Nigeria, it has served it purpose, and the 346FA is the best trainer jet to replace the legendary Alphas.

grin human rights abuses you say?
That is just a tool used in punishing governments that are poor and not submissive to Washington. Say Nigeria has an annual defense budget of $10 billion and the military was willing to splash it all on overpriced American weapons, you honestly think they will not grab the deal because of "human rights abuses" and allow you turn to other countries? grin
Just indicate that you are ready to buy two squadrons of the Apache at about $2.5 billion and the extreme lawmakers will be having a very difficult time stopping the deal because of human rights.
The companies involved in the manufacturing of the components of these systems will not allow the lawmakers whose campaigns they sponsored rest until they approve the deal.
But when you're u are buying in twos and fours, no one will take you seriously.
It's a known fact that America has more war crimes and human rights issues than Nigeria, but Nigerians will not let us hear word, with the constant cry of human rights.

Two things we learned this week, Nigeria is not negotiating for additional JF-17 thunders, and Nigerian Air Force Top brass is still obsessed with American equipment.

Why would Nigeria want to spend $800 million on x 12 AH-1Z helicopters from the US?

In my opinion it is an unnecessary waste of money.

Although American military equipment is top of the line, for a country like Nigeria depending so much on American military equipment is almost as good as not having military aircraft all together.

This is just a bad, bad decision.
I think NAF is waiting for the production of the JF-17 thunder block 3, that comes with AESA radar, and other stuff, and place an order for reasonable numbers, I don't think the NAF has eyes on other Jet fighters, America will never sell the F-16s to Nigeria, and I don't think we need it, because American equipments comes with strings attached.
Or maybe NAF is considering the Chinese J-10, but will China agree to export them?

The best equipped military in Africa by a mile, but I rate the Algerians above them as the Algerian military looks more sustainable.

The Egyptian military looks very susceptible to sanctions.
Understandable, but I think there is diversification of weapons by the Egyptians recently, they are no longer relying heavily on American weapons, although still depends on American military aids but I understand your point.
I rate the Algerian military too.

The NAF has flown 40,000 combat hours since 2015, that's an average of 6700 hours per year. Assuming at least 6 aircrafts are flying every day, each will need to fly for more than 3 hours.
When you consider the number of aircrafts they have operational, it is really not surprising that some of these platforms are now starting to fail and crash. They deserve the capital funding they are getting now and much more.
This would have been the best time to have flown the Jaguar sepcat jets, and mig 21, if they were still in service, they were underused before it was grounded, what a waste.

Nigeria don't need to upgrade those. The army needs total replacements. The Vickers MBT, operates a 105mm L7 rifled gun, which is obsolete. It doesn't have active APS, low protection. It can't be upgraded but replaced with the more modern VT4s.
Yes I agree, more VT 4 mbt or T-90 tanks should be procured in numbers, Vicker is no longer in production anyways.

Note, the Arjun MBT is the Indian army version of the Vickers. Mk.3 MBT which is operated by the Nigerian army.

The military were not reliable enough until ISWAP confirmed... Someone once balsted them for placing more trust on terrorist propaganda than military statements all in the name of selling bad news
Yes, they didn't believe the military own, so they rather wait for their reliable source, ISWAP to confirm the number of casualties, and ISWAP gave them a hot breakfast( Heart break)

This last part is where everyone gets it wrong all over the world. There isn't going to be any rest, Terrorism shouldn't have been categorised as a war in the first place but as a crime meant to be fought by the police cos it's just like every other crime which never ends but can be reduced. The military should only be brought in when insurgents get too strong for the police to handle to launch an offensive so as to destroy or capture their heavy equipments and put them back to mere criminals.

90% of the activities of the military in borno today is more of law enforcement i.e patrolling and responding to attacks.

Terrorism can be likened to Cultism but only difference is access to bigger weapons and different ideology. What difference will it add if we bring the military in to fight Cultism?

The govt should train and equip some set of policemen to do the job the military is currently doing in borno which are mostly law enforcement duties. The military should only be involved when we need to launch an offensive.
I agree with you, and that's why the military have to lunch another offensive, just like OTT, and the 2015 offensive, to weaken the terrorists again, I know they don't hold any strong position there in Borno, apart from lake Chad shores.

So now the reliable source you were waiting for, confirmed that 4 died in the ambush, so have your doubts cleared now?

When you are tasked for a duty, you make use of the available resources provided.
When you say we are using numbers to persecute this war then i am forced to ask you,how did you come to that conclusion.
The TOC is vast and cut across border,we also do not have the required vehicles (formally we roll out men in soft skin vehicle at the begging of the war) but the reduction of soft skin vehicle has started.
The rate at which we lose men have also reduce incase you don't kniw
This is the same guy that doubted the initial claim that only 4 people died during the ambush that killed the senior officer.
He was speculating higher numbers of troops died with the general, because of rank, that's why I said he exaggerate things so much.
Even some people here were saying over 15 to 20 soldiers died with the general, because of his rank, till ISWAP confirmed it was only 4.
People don't use they brain, but with their biased minds.

Chief we are believing in numbers. I have said this with my full chest. The Military should improve on its loose ends.

I don’t give a balanced and constructive argument because it doesn’t blend with your opinion? grin

Did you read my post you quoted?

Chief don’t jump into arguments just because of emotions. I’m giving reasons why we are having high casualties.

Base fortification
Soft Skinned vehicles
Proper surveillance etc and I called on the government/Military to improve on this. How is this exaggeration?

Some of you guys here can’t do without being emotional Bro grin

It’s very simple logic.

Later Bro I have a Civilian-Military coordination meeting to attend in our Brigade cool
Me being emotional?

I'm just responding back to what you initially wrote there.

You are the one that has to read my quote again, read the last part carefully.

SamuelAnyawu:
Chief we are losing Soldiers carelessly. If the US and UK are as careless as us, they’ll lose more Soldiers than us.

Base Fortification Zero
Using Open Hilux in Red Zones
Proper Base Surveillances etc drones.
Previously we had a poor response time for Air support due to inter-agency bureaucracy.

There was no need for the bolded statement.

We need to Improve. We are having the mentality of using numbers to win this war after all Depot go open and Nigerians will troop in for recruitment.
You don't give a balance or constructive argument anymore, you exaggerate things, thinking everyone will believe, because you are there in the battle field, are you in anyway saying we are winning the war based on number, not because we are better fighters than the terrorists?
If we are using numbers to fight the war because depots will be open for troop recruitment, then why are we crying that we lack manpower in Borno, and the need for more troops to be deployed, to hold grounds?
You are comparing US to Nigeria that spent trillions of dollars of dollars in Afghanistan, more than our GDP, money that will cover Nigeria total budget for 2 decades or more,is what the US wasted in Afghanistan, and still lost, how much is Nigeria military budget?
The military has been neglected for many years, because of corruption, it's only recent it started finding it feet, and the use of light skin vehicles are being phrasing out gradually.
Even the Americans and it allies you are comparing Nigeria to, also loses thousands of it troops, despite using more protected vehicles, so tell what causes they deaths?

In my opinion the very FIRST CASUALTY of WAR is the TRUTH.

As it concerns propaganda l really don't know who's propaganda to believe because they all LIE.

We have no independent news media they simply don't report mainly because of government restrictions on media in that area.

The NA have shown over the years that they are capable of of telling bare faced Lies. The End SARS protests and the shootings at Lekki toll gate come to mind.

So would you believe everything the NA say ?
Please if you want to quote me, always stick to the main topic, don't bring another past topic in a present discussion.
It's your choice to believe the terrorists propaganda or the military propaganda, it's now of my business.
