I had an adventurous journey to iROKO Partner’s office in Lagos, we met some exciting young and lovely individuals.

I would not have thought there are so many people already working for the group, it’s like a market place, from those who wish to sell their movies to persons walking down to ask for a job the office is fully occupied.

Roberta brings a throwback to some amazing moments with Nigerian Startup Founders.
In one of the #throwback clips: Gbolahan Fagbure (former Director of Operations, Jumia) now Co-founder of SupermartNG, explained how he came in contact with Rocket Internet and his Co-founder Raphael Afaedor. Hear him:

“I used to run a monthly speaker series. Raphael came to the show in one of the series when I was not in town. Later, a mutual friend invited us to speak at a conference. When I got there, I saw Raphael and I said, It seems I know this guy. After the conference, I did not get in contact with him again until when Rocket Internet came to Nigeria. They first of all got in contact with Raphael and I was the second person they contacted. When I got there, I saw Raphael and I was like, I know this guy. From there, we carried on and today, we have built a partnership made in Heaven”.

Dear Senator John Kerry:

I have decided as a 39 year old Nigerian Citizen that has lived in Nigeria all my life to write you this letter – one that I am equally copying to President Barack Obama and Ambassador James Entwistle based on your press statement of February 7, 2015 that read thus:

“The United States is deeply disappointed by the decision to postpone Nigeria’s presidential election, which had been scheduled for February 14.

Political interference with the Independent National Electoral Commission is unacceptable, and it is critical that the government not use security concerns as a pretext for impeding the democratic process. The international community will be watching closely as the Nigerian government prepares for elections on the newly scheduled dates. The United States underscores the importance of ensuring that there are no further delays.

As I reaffirmed when I visited Lagos last month, we support a free, transparent, and credible electoral process in Nigeria and renew our calls on all candidates, their supporters, and Nigerian citizens to maintain calm and reject election-related violence.”

First, considering your comments and expressed concern about the elections in Nigeria, which was also the prime focus of your last visit to Lagos last month, I would like to present you with the table below – the contents of which I believe your research desk on Nigeria should have been able to provide you with already:

As you would notice, Sir, April seems to have become the official election date in Nigeria over the last 4 election cycles [the 1999 elections was supervised by the Military] in the same way November has always been the case with the U.S. [for all the ones I have followed in my adult life], and this has been the case under Three Different Presidencies – those of Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo, late Umar Musa Yar-Adua, and the incumbent, Goodluck Jonathan. These four elections – always supervised by the Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC] has done these under three different Chairmen – Abel Goubadia, Maurice Iwu and Attahiru Jega – there is therefore an established pattern here – proving this trend has nothing to do with a season or an individual but the process.

Second, I am equally concerned that your country being the lead-propagators of Democracy around the world that constantly insists on the rights of all citizens to count in a democracy do not seem to concern yourself [at least not within your press statement] with the possible impending disenfranchisement of 23.71 million Nigerian Voters by INEC – being the number of registered members of the electorate that the agency as at February 5, 2015 had not yet provided with their Permanent Voters Cards [PVCs] – as shown in the table below, this number represents a staggering 60% of the voters turn out in the 2011 Presidential elections:

Seriously, how come the same INEC that begged Nigerians in 2010 to allow it postpone the elections by almost 105 days for the same reasons of not being able to provide the citizenry with Voter’s Cards now seem ever so willing to run along with this election despite several opposing views in that regard as demonstrated by elder statesmen, political action groups and even political parties – seemingly looking like as though only the lead opposition party – All Progressives Congress [APC] seemed willing to work along with INEC to deny these 23.71 million voters of their rights to vote.

Third, it is also noteworthy that this same Obama administration as exemplified by the actions and body language of the State Department under yourself and Senator Hillary Clinton has consistently played the politics of non-committal towards Nigeria in the last 5-6 years considering the massive security challenges the nation has faced in the course of that period – rather issuing positions via those connected to your office ranging from “the Nigerian Government is corrupt and unwilling to fight Terrorism” to “We cannot sell ammunitions to Nigeria to fight Terrorism because we are concerned about the safety of such equipment” yet today, your department and nation now have a problem with a push of these elections’ dates even though the same security challenges which you have abandoned Nigeria to face is now the official reason adduced by INEC and the security forces for these postponements.

I am therefore tempted to ask you the following questions:

“If the U.S. was so interested in the peace of Nigeria and knew that elections was a very important part of that, why has the US consistently refused to offer to Nigeria the same commitment and support that it is currently offering to Iraq, Syria, Yemen versus ISIL even though today, Boko Haram could have arguably taken more lives than ISIL in the last couple of months?”
“Is there any available statistics anywhere in the world suggesting that “the Nigerian Government is more corrupt than those of Iraq, Syria and Yemen that would warrant for those nations to receive the sort of support they are getting from the U.S. in fighting terrorism that your nation is currently denying Nigeria?”
So how come all of a sudden, the U.S. seems more interested in the Nigerian Elections beyond helping Nigeria to fight Terrorism which if it had done well would have helped Nigeria to be better prepared to hold the elections as scheduled?
Four, I would urge your department to desist from giving more impetus to already growing notion within the Nigerian Polity that “The U.S. government actively supports the Nigerian Opposition and would prefer to have a Nigerian of Northern-Nigerian origin with a Muslim Religious background to become the next President of Nigeria in order to help maintain a certain political balance within the Nigerian Polity” - and I am sure that one sure way to distance yourself from this misconception would be for you to respect the Nigerian Constitution by allowing the people of Nigeria to determine their own fate within the ambits of that same constitution by refusing to sign-up to the propaganda being spread by the opposition and their partners within civil society and intellectual class – at home and in the diaspora – that suggests the incumbent government has other ulterior motives aside those given by INEC and indeed other Nigerians, using myself as an example of such people, as I have already enumerated within this letter as the real reasons why a push in these elections’ dates has been necessitated at this time.

Five, those suggesting to your office and indeed the Obama administration that these postponements are similar to efforts to truncate our Democracy similar to the June 12 polls should be deemed a bunch of Alarmists and nothing more because while the that election indeed took place; and a winner was well-known to all before it was infamously annulled, this oncoming polls has not yet taken been conducted neither can the opposition provide you with any verifiable poll – local or international – even remotely suggesting that it will these elections – and as I see it, claiming victory in an election that has not yet been held would be tantamount to heating up the polity ahead of the polls that could result in a repeat of the post-2011 elections pogrom that led to the systematic killing of 800 Nigerians; burning down of 350 Churches; and displacement of 65,000 Nigerians – all within the space of about 3-4 days!

I close by reminding you of the comments you made while you were in Lagos last month thus: “So let me be clear: Anyone who participates in, plans, or calls for widespread or systematic violence against the civilian population must be held accountable, including by ineligibility for an American visa. Violence has no place in democratic elections, and I can guarantee you that the perpetrators of such violence would not be welcome in the United States of America.”

I dare say that this would be a good time for you, your department and the Obama administration to remind the various parties in these elections that you are very serious about that statement.

My brother, you have contested the Presidential elections 3 times in
this country and in all these times,you have never asked me or my
people at Shagari village to support your bid. It is very obvious why
you can't do that. You don't have the courage after what you did to
me. You truncated democracy with a dastardly coup and took away
power from me.You humiliated me and made me to suffer,and you
took away my opportunity to RULE Nigeria. You said you do not
want democracy in Nigeria.. The same democracy you truncated,
you are fighting hard to get with desperation and diabolical power.
You have entered into unholy alliance with some known elements of
disunity in the south but let me warn you. You will suffer hard in the
hands of Tinubu and his political merchants who will use and dump
you as they did to Nuhu. In 2011, you cried publicly when you lost
election,and you made provocative and inciting statements that
plunged this country into untoward unrest. You provoked our hot-
blooded youths with war cries which erupted into post election
violence, that brought Boko Haram into existence, over 500 innocent
Nigerians died instantly, most of them youth corpers deployed from
one of the unifying agencies of this country. Personally,I do not have
a problem with your ambition. It is your arrogance that bothers me. If
you cannot summon the courage to ask me and my family to vote
for you because you know we would not,why do you think Nigerians
would look kindly on your past record of destroying a progressing
democratic institutions painfully put in place by some respected
fathers of this nations like Awolowo and Azikiwe. No my brother. It is
time to wake up from your delusion and do the needful if you still
have some conscience. I am not writing this to you with vengeance
intention. I am a practicing Muslim and we leave matters of
vengeance to Allah. I write to you as a Nigerian,your brother and a
statesman who is deeply concerned.Quit the presidential race now
and save this country from the dangling sword of Damocles being
menacingly wield by the crooks who surround you. This elections is
not about you or President Goodluck Jonathan. It is about the unity
of Nigeria which can only be assured by being fair. By this I
mean,being fair to the people of Niger Delta. We can only do this by
either re-electing Goodluck or substitute him with any of his kinsmen
from the South-south as that can only count fair for a people who are
entitled to 8 years in the office of the President. For the elders
council in the north,we have come to the conclusion to work towards
realizing that fairness. 4 years more is not eternity. It is not too
much of a concession for us to make to move Nigeria forward as one
indivisible and united country under one God. May Allah open your

we cannot continue to judge Buhari based on what we think he will do in future. He should be judged by what he did as a former head of state”.

The assaults committed by Buhari and his regime cannot be swept under the carpet.

Buhari assault on Pa Awolowo, Late Bola Ige, Former Gov Lateef Jakande among others cannot be forgotten. The worst crime was his stopping of the Lagos Metro line which would have put Lagos state on a pedestal of sorts.”

We cannot even mention the unjust treatment, killings and punishment he dose out to Nigerians, ordering young soldiers to kill like fowls, the tough soldiers who have fought even for Nigerian independence

I once heard some people say that Tinubu is so full of himself that when he wants to go and sleep, he will say "Eko Fe Lo Sun" meaning "Lagos want to go and sleep" - yes its as serious as that.


The cracks may look papered and the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Lagos after its primaries across the state would believe the party is still united and should coast to victory in the elections in 2015, but they may wake up and find the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Alausa and to be candid I wouldn’t be surprised one bit.

Let me admit that some of the candidates in APC whose political ambitions were stonewalled are known to me in one form or the other, but my analysis and opinion here are totally rigorous and devoid of sentiments or malice. Wole Soyinka just described President Goodluck Jonathan as the biblical Nebuchadnezzar, and while I certainly agree with him, I would like to say we have a Nebuchadnezzar and Emperor Nero rolled into one in Lagos state and that man unfortunately is APC chieftain Bola Tinubu.

Nebuchadnezzar in the sense that he has allowed the spirit of grand delusion take over him completely which like the biblical Aramean (present day Syria) King saw him become delusional and began to boast of all his achievements and conquests to the extent of turning himself into a god to be worshipped by the people. God Almighty made him fully insane, losing all of his sanity, dethroned him for seven years before restoring him back to the throne and he then learnt to praise the true God. Emperor Nero on his part is more associated with the term “fiddling while Rome was burning”, but his major problem was his tyranny and arrogance towards the people he ruled which led to disobedience and wars against him. The same arrogance you can find on the part of Tinubu and those within his inner circle still enjoying his political clout.

Like Nebuchadnezzar, I wouldn’t be shocked if PDP takes over Lagos state at least for the next eight years starting from 2015 so as to humble Tinubu, and make him realise whatever he has become in Lagos and to the Yoruba people is not by any act of perfection of his but just by the mercies of God. Tomorrow APC would all things being equal “select” its gubernatorial candidate and pointers are that the anointed candidate by godfather Tinubu, Akinwunmi Ambode would be selected. I say selected because judging from the outcome of the primaries for the state House of Assembly, preferred candidates from the Tinubu camp scored over 95% of the votes in their constituencies in some cases 100% in what was supposed to be open and fair primaries, thus its clear Ambode would be selected on Thursday December 4th with a large proportion of the votes at the primaries.

The situation report from all the different constituencies where the House of Assembly primaries were held, was that party delegates were instructed to vote in full for any candidate anointed by Tinubu. They were simply told at the election venues that the godfather had asked them all to vote for just one person. It’s the same procedure to be adopted for Ambode’s victory and some candidates vying, may have zero votes put behind their names if they don’t step down before Thursday.

You wonder why should Lagos state with all the talk of progressivism be run that way? What is the essence of attending the US Democratic party’s convention and not bringing back any ideas from there? Did Tinubu just attend to have a photo-op and boost his own political status or was he there to learn one or two new things to help move his own party forward? You had the better part of a year for succession planning even if you wanted to have some level of control in the party as a leader in it, together with ‘Tunde Fashola why didn’t you take the most part of the year to plan the race for his successor? Why all the last minute rush and deception that smacks of the archaic politics still being played in Lagos state?

The APC (all through its metamorphosis in Lagos state) has become a victim of its own success in the last 16 years and you shouldn’t be shocked so many people want to share in that success, after-all they all worked for it too. For one man to believe he alone is the architect of the whole success would be stretching it to the level of grand delusion and just like Nebuchadnezzar he would soon be dethroned by God just so he can learn who is the Almighty. In 2007 when Action Congress was not even yet as successful as this, we had lots of candidates who wanted to succeed Tinubu, and luckily I’m sure through divine guidance a man foretold in Fashola was given the ticket and he hasn’t disappointed.

His performance over the last eight years (with plenty of work yet to be done in mass populated areas) has further made the party now called APC a victim of its own success and so many more candidates want to succeed him. In an age where even in the United Kingdom, century old parties like the Conservatives are seeing members crying out for open primaries rather than the age long style of selection of candidates that only ensures the elites and private school tutored boys get into government, Lagos state under Tinubu is preserving the Conservative style where only his own cronies. family members, relatives and children whose fathers are known get into position in the state yet we call ourselves progressives, democrats or forward thinking.

What does it cost Tinubu and APC in Lagos state to organise a proper primary and state convention like its done in countries where he has visited and been seen photographed in their own democratic conventions?

Its even worse when you perceive that the same Tinubu looks to be a misogynist and finds it hard to give women opportunities except they are his close family members and relatives. In 1999, he found it hard to work with Kofo Akerele-Bucknor and they parted ways in 2002. Maybe you did blame it on the lady and excuse Tinubu, but he went on to have the same problem with another deputy this time a male. Compare it with Fashola who had Sarah Sosan as his deputy from 2007 and they had a brilliant working relationship. The powers that be which of course is Tinubu decided without explanation that Sosan had to be dropped in 2011 and brought another female in Orelope-Adefulire and yet Fashola had a no issues working with her till date. It leaves one wondering if truly Tinubu isn’t the problem considering he couldn’t work with a female deputy and if he isn’t a misogynist - someone who finds it hard to trust women and their abilities except in his case they are his family members or relations. -

Take a look at the House of Assembly primaries and you find lots of women either not returning as candidates for the party or they were not given a chance at all. In Oshodi-Isolo 2 constituency the female candidate there a current state legislator was routed by a fresher Ladi Ajomale, son of the APC state chairman Henry Ajomale. In Amuwo-Odofin 2 constituency, the female candidate a state legislator was also defeated by a Tinubu favoured candidate. In Ikeja 1 constituency Kenny Saint Brown (KSB, popular musician and younger sister to Kenny Ogungbe) was not even given much of a chance as she lost by a wide margin to another fresher just like her Jimi Mohammed, son of Lai Mohammed the APC National Publicity secretary.

Though KSB is quite new to the political scene one would have thought been a woman (a sector of our society and politics that can be classed as vulnerable people) she should have been given more support and help to achieve her dreams. You may say its politics and the majority wins but compare it with another popular face Nollywood actor, Desmond Elliot totally new to politics but defeating an incumbent Kabiru Lawal to win in Surulere Constituency 1 and then you now the APC is possibly a party led by misogynists. Take a look also at Ikeja Constituency 2, the only female candidate in that constituency out of several male contenders was first disqualified by the APC state screening committee citing the fact that she has no political experience. A candidate who has been with the party since 1999 under Alliance for Democracy (AD) attended several meetings of Bola Ahmed Tinubu Campaign Organisation (BATCO) those days when its head office was at Aromirein Ikeja.

A candidate who has held political positions within the Local Government (Ikeja LG/Ojodu LCDA) and you say such person has no political experience. In any case even when the folly was rectified and they went to primaries, the godfather brought a certain Damola Kasumu with zero political experience, who is a nephew to Tinubu to be declared the winner. The female candidate was given no chance, the rest of the candidates too no chance in hell just because the godfather wants to compensate his nephew.

The Kasumu according to reports widely written about him in the Nigerian press is said to be the surviving child of the late Abibatu Mogaji (a woman Tinubu related to as his mother) but his known to be a drunkard with slurred speech who mismanaged the businesses he inherited from his late mother and had ran into hard times. While all that is none of my business really, but the emerging trend is that in Lagos state there is now a glass-ceiling on people’s political ambitions and only Tinubu can decide what you become in the state. I heard Fashola some months back talking about if having to choose between freedom and development he did choose freedom any day.

The likes of Musiliu Obanikoro who defected from the AD to PDP despite the help he got from Tinubu, as well as Jimi Agbaje who has never teamed up with the so called progressives may be right after all. What's the point calling yourself a progressive and you have to be under one man’s group thinking? You not allowed to make your own decisions, pursue your own dreams whether you fail or win, neither are you able to stand out and criticise the the man if he is failing.

I have decided to talk to people who were kids in the 80s because i understand that most of them were not old or not even born as at the time Buhari was ruling so it becomes difficult to know the reason i will vote for Mr Ibu just to get Buhari out until APC finds a competent, prudent and kind-hearted man to contest and face the PDP.
Buhari is old enough to produce another younger Buhari if he were truly a leader like he claimed but because his mission is not to build Nigeria but to come and revenge even more wickedness, he has come again, Nigeria need to move forward not to be fighting shadows.

1. Buhari killed Ben ogedengbe by a death penalty for a crime that didn't carry death penalty when he committed it.
2. Buhari doesn't attend the Federal Council meetings yet collects his allowances. Mr. Integrity indeed.
3. Buhari canceled former Governor Jakande's metroline and forfeited the $50 million paid for it by the then Lagos State Government
4 Buhari used Violence to stop the September 1985 National Conference of the National AssociatIon of Nigeria Students.
5. Buhari jailed Tai Solarin and denied him his asthma drugs simply because he campaigned against military rule and for democracy.
6. Buhari Jailed Nduka irabor and Tunde Thompson for writing a truthful report which embarrassed his Government
7. Buhari raided respected Papa Awolowo's house and seized his passport so he couldn't travel out of the country. Was he also corrupt?
8.Buhari threw Former vice President Alex Ekweme in jail even though it was proven that Ekweme never stole any money.
9. He jailed honest and respected pa Adekunle Ajasin.
10. He jailed Fela Kuti in I984 for singing against the dictatorial tendencies of his Military Government
11 Doctors, remember that Buhari banned the Nigeria medical Association (NMA)
12. Buhari stopped Ooni of Ife for traveling abroad simply because he visited the holy land of Israel in 1984
13. He broke up press conference of ASSU in 1984 and detained four of their executives
14 He jailed Beko Ransome Kuti who only demanded for the release of his brother.

My elder sister who was born IN THE 70s did not write NECO because NECO was created by former Head of State Abdulsalami Abubakar in April 1999.

NECO was formed in 1999. This certificate also bears WASSCE which was WASC until it was changed to WASSCE in 1998. During his age, such exams were not conducted in May/June...I mean in the 60s. WAEC School Certificate exams used to take place in November/December until 1973. And again there was nothing like SSCE back then. Also, our great general is quoting Katsina state; please do when was Katsina state created?

Now if you sight the forged Buhari cert, there is NECO on it and also WAEC exams were not taken at may/june.

So i had a boy friend in the barracks and i use to go there especially to teach him the use of computer, i became a known face in the Barracks that i was no longer searched or asked questions, everyone knew me.

In one of the days, one Hausa army man came looking for my boyfriend, he was not around he just stepped out, he kept on coming and coming and coming - until i asked him if i could help him since my boyfriend was not around, he then said he wanted to go to the bank, but needed to fill out his withdrawal slip, he puts his hand in his pocket and brought out 2 withdrawal slips, i asked him how much he wants to withdraw and he said 20k, i filled out everything and ask him to sign.

When my boyfriend returns, i told him what had happened and queried him on how a full blown army man could not fill his forms, he said don't mind those Hausa guys, they dont know anything, i said but you guys have a minimum qualification of WAEC, he said not to those Hausa people, they just lobbied them in there, it is only in the East and West that certificates really matters.

I was shocked but i just waved it off, now yesterday when the army release a statement that Buhari cert is not with them, i just remembered that incidence

The more we plunge into Buhari the more corrupt we found him, the real truth however is that Buhari has never taken any WASCE, he was only lobbied into the military.

Whatever qualification he has attain in military was therefore fraudulent and should be reverse if any, because the foundation is corrupt.
