Birthed by a vision to harness the most abundant renewable energy to bring about a revolution in transportation, Solar Impulse II has completed its circumnavigation of the earth powered solely by the sun.
What started as an idea in 2004 by Bertrand Piccard, a Swiss Psychiatrist and Baloonist was brought to reality 12 years later after the plane returned to Abu Dhabi where it had taken off in 2015.
Together with Andre Borschberg, co-founder of the Solar Impulse project, and co-pilot of the aircraft, the journey of 40,000km kick started from Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.

Great feats like crossing the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean, flying 4-days straight to Japan thereby creating a record of the 'longest solar-powered flight' were achieved without any use of fuel or emission of environmental polluting gases.
However, the Plane experienced technical difficulties that halted the journey for over 9-months. The aircraft's batteries reached critical operating temperatures, and due to Piccard's persistence to continue with the mission, the batteries suffered irreversible damage which led to delay in takeoff from Hawaii as engineers were working out replacement parts for the aircraft.
Solar Impulse II resumed journey in April 2016, and went on to complete it's circumnavigation on 26 July 2016, 16 months after it begun it's journey.

This is surely a great feat in the aviation sector, according to Andre Borschberg " To build an airplane of the size of a 747 with the weight of a car, something which was considered impossible by the aviation industry, we had to develop the right mindset in order to push the limits of the technologies. With Partners who believed in the same vision we developed solutions to make our airplanes very energy efficient. All these technologies can be used today in other applications to make our world more energy efficient as well."

The team of over 80 engineers are not slowing down yet. Building on the success of the solar Impulse project, there is work to develop other solar aircrafts which includes a solar powered drone.

In Piccard's words "Our ambition for Solar Impulse is for the worlds of exploration and innovation to make a contribution to the cause of renewable energies. We want to demonstrate the importance of clean technologies for sustainable development; and to place dreams and emotions back at the heart of scientific adventure.”

Indeed there is no limit to what we can achieve!

Growing up as a teenager in Nigeria is difficult,

you see and hear of supposedly old men; stealing funds meant for the development of the country. You hear of lawmakers who are supposed to help build a reputable government for the people- Padding the budget for both selfish and sponsored reasons.
You see groups like Avengers, Book Haram etc sponsored by these 'top men' wrecking havoc in the lifes of innocent citizens.
Sometimes I question God on why he let me to be born into this hell. . . But looking into the big picture, it's upto us, the upcoming generation to get fed up with all nonsense, and bring a change into the nation.

Forget about the President, forget about the governors, Bleep the ministers,, who our Legislature don help? Let's take our own future back from these old men.... Time for all upcoming Engineers to work together to bring about the next Silicon Valley, Doctors and Pharmaceutical students, take ur courses serious.... Your help would be greatly needed during this revolution. Sociologists, Economists, and all other neglected young minds out there..... Our time is coming! Let's be prepared so we won't be found wanting.

Together, we will build the Nigeria of our dream. And make sure our own offsprings don't get to live in a hell like we did.

I typed this outta pain in my heart. . . But I'm grateful,,,, There is a big plan!

DISCLAIMER:. Don't try to understand this post.

https://cdn.interestingengineering.com//wp-content/uploads/2016/07/graham-crash-face.jpeg

We humans live in a world where cars have to be designed to protect us during crashes, but what if our bodies were built to survive crashes with little injury? Well, meet Graham. He is a life size realistic human sculpture that is meant to have the perfect anatomy to survive deadly car crashes.

“Graham has been designed with bodily features that might be present in humans if they had evolved to withstand the forces involved in crashes. Studies have shown that the human body can only cope with impacts at speeds people can reach on their own, unassisted by vehicles.”

You can see more about the making of Graham in the video below.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wHmqn2tZkto

Graham is meant as an education tool from the Transport Accident Commission meant to help people realize just how harmful car crashes can be without proper protection. They have put together a 360˚ interactive website detailing all of Graham’s features, which you can check out here.

“We have to accept people will always make mistakes, but modern vehicle safety technology and safe road design can drastically reduce the forces involved when a crash happens, making them more survivable.” ~ Mr. Calafiore, TAC CEO

Probably your first question about Graham is why in the world does he have so many nipples?! Well, those aren’t nipples, they are biological airbags, which are exactly what humans need built-in to their ribcage to survive high-velocity impacts. Graham’s neck and forehead are the other most striking characteristics, each designed to maximize brain protection and whiplash damage in accidents.

https://cdn.interestingengineering.com//wp-content/uploads/2016/07/graham-crash-body.jpeg

Graham will be on display at the State Library of Victoria until August 8, before going on a roadshow, according to TAC. This bizarre looking humanoid sculpture really brings into reality how severe even small car accidents are.

Lalasticlala or what do they call him should rename this site from NAIRALAND TO TRIBALAND.

I have never seen Nigerians Unite here, the hatred between our ethnic groups is what u see here on a daily bases. Yoruba against Igbo ,Hausa against Igbo and Igbo against the both. What use is this place since all it does is make us hate each other the more.

When an Igbo Man does something Right he becomes a Nigerian, when he commits crime he becomes an Igbo from the south east.

yet when we want to secede they say we are greedy and that we want to disunite Nigeria. As if it is united at all.

Believe you me,Igbo doesn't even need the so called oil to survive.Survival is our nickname. We make something out of nothing,we are ingenious, creative, business mind, hardworking and intelligent plus other countless attributes...

Yet other tribes envy us cus of our God given gifts and talents.

they have tried to eliminate us through so many ways but we survive.Which ethnic group will survive after been robbed off of all their investments and money and given a mere £20 pounds no matter the millions u had before the war.

which ethnic group can use a high way to build a stealth airport, which ethnic group turned scientist and locally manufactured bombs (ogbunigwe),during the war to survive the genocide being carried out by Nigerian Army.

which ethnic group can withstand the whole of Nigeria with their allies for 3 years without being eliminated from the map of Nigeria.

we have survived all this and now we are better.

so if this country can't harbour us,they should let us go in peace.

not trying to blame everything bad happening in this country on the Igbos.

as if their own tribes don't have their own faults.

I rest my case my fellow TRIBALANDERS...

Igbo this Igbo that...

This speech is tribalistic in itself...

Christianity EtcRe: The "Suya-loving" God Of The Bible: by RobinHez(m): 7:32am On Jul 24, 2016
God required animal sacrifices to provide a temporary covering of sins and to foreshadow the perfect and complete sacrifice of Jesus Christ (Leviticus 4:35 , 5:10 ). Animal sacrifice is an important theme found throughout Scripture because “without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness” ( Hebrews 9:22 ). When Adam and Eve sinned, animals were killed by God to provide clothing for them (Genesis 3:21 ). Cain and Abel brought sacrifices to the Lord. Cain's was unacceptable because he brought fruit, while Abel's was acceptable because it was the “firstborn of his flock” ( Genesis 4:4-5 ). After the flood receded, Noah sacrificed animals to God (Genesis 8:20-21 ).
God commanded the nation of Israel to perform numerous sacrifices according to certain procedures prescribed by God. First, the animal had to be spotless. Second, the person offering the sacrifice had to identify with the animal. Third, the person offering the animal had to inflict death upon it. When done in faith, this sacrifice provided a temporary covering of sins. Another sacrifice called for on the Day of Atonement, described in Leviticus 16 , demonstrates forgiveness and the removal of sin. The high priest was to take two male goats for a sin offering. One of the goats was sacrificed as a sin offering for the people of Israel ( Leviticus 16:15 ), while the other goat was released into the wilderness (Leviticus 16:20-22 ). The sin offering provided forgiveness, while the other goat provided the removal of sin.
Why, then, do we no longer offer animal sacrifices today? Animal sacrifices have ended because Jesus Christ was the ultimate and perfect sacrifice. John the Baptist recognized this when he saw Jesus coming to be baptized and said, “Look, the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29 ). You may be asking yourself, why animals? What did they do wrong? That is the point—since the animals did no wrong, they died in place of the one performing the sacrifice. Jesus Christ also did no wrong but willingly gave Himself to die for the sins of mankind (1 Timothy 2:6 ). Jesus Christ took our sin upon Himself and died in our place. As 2 Corinthians 5:21 says, “God made him [Jesus] who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” Through faith in what Jesus Christ accomplished on the cross, we can receive forgiveness.
In summation, animal sacrifices were commanded by God so that the individual could experience forgiveness of sin. The animal served as a substitute—that is, the animal died in place of the sinner, but only temporarily, which is why the sacrifices needed to be offered over and over. Animal sacrifices have stopped with Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ was the ultimate sacrificial substitute once for all time (Hebrews 7:27 ) and is now the only mediator between God and humanity ( 1 Timothy 2:5 ). Animal sacrifices foreshadowed Christ’s sacrifice on our behalf. The only basis on which an animal sacrifice could provide forgiveness of sins is Christ who would sacrifice Himself for our sins, providing the forgiveness that animal sacrifices could only illustrate and foreshadow.
