Business / Nigeria To Start Producing Pencils By 2018 - Minister Of Science And Technology by RobinRay(m): 9:23am On Mar 08, 2016
Ogbonnaya Onu, the minister of science and technology, says Nigeria will start producing its own pencils in another two years, as part of a wholesale production-sector revamp to be witnessed in the regime of President Muhammadu Buhari.Speaking in an interview withDaily Trust,Onu expressed assurance that the plan would have a “meaningful impact” on the economy, because the wide aim of the ministry is to “commercialise developedideas and research findings to principal levels”.He dismissed questions over the importance of pencil production, saying Nigerians would be amazed at the multiplier effects, which will include the creation of at least 400,00 jobs.“Yes, I have heard questions on why pencils. We chose pencils to symbolize the problems that we have and our commitment to local production,” he said.“To produce pencils, we need wood, graphite, rubber for the eraser and possibly, we will need aluminium to hold the rubber in place. Then, we may need paint to give it colour. But even if we don’t add paint or rubber, already we have a pencil and it will write.“Now, we have all the things to produce a pencil, which is used by a large number of people from our young pupils to engineers, and it looks simple to produce, yet we have not been able to produce it. That is why we talked about producing pencils.“We have asked PRODA (the Projects Development Agency) to ensure Nigeria starts producing pencils in two years. It is actually not PRODA’s mandate to produce the pencils. No. PRODA is just to do the holistic research on pencil production in Nigeria. Somebody can start producing pencils here and will still be importing the wood, the graphite, the rubber, bringing in everything. No, that is not what we want.“We want PRODA to do research to make the production process totally local. We have to treat the graphite to conform to the required standard for good quality production. We also have to work on the type, quality and shape of the wood to be used. The local content will also be total. This is PRODA’s assignment.“When PRODA is through with its job, it is the private sector that will come in to do the production and we will see the benefits. When production of pencils begins, Nigerians will be amazed at the multiplier effects. It will create a minimum of 400,00 jobs. There will be the small-scale entrepreneurs that will do the beneficiation of the graphite, that is, prepare it for pencil production; there will be small-scale entrepreneurs that will prepare the rubber to be used as an eraser for pencils; and there will also be small-scale entrepreneurs that will also prepare the wood for the appropriate use. Can we imagine creating jobs for 100,000 people. The results will be amazing!”He expressed worry that Nigeria has no single pencil-producing factory, despite the ease of required technology.“PRODA has confirmed that there is not a single pencil-producing factory in Nigeria and even in West Africa. This is why we are worried. We know this is a technology we can easily handle. Beyond that, the number of jobs we will create in starting pencil production is very encouraging. It will also be good for the image of the nation,” he said.“The pencil-production idea will make meaningful impact on the economy. It will certainly do. The wide aim of the ministry is to commercialise ideas, research findings, etc that we have developed to principal levels. And there are so many of them.“We are working with the organized private sector. The National Association of Small-Scale Industrialists and the Nigerian Economic Summit Group had visited us here; they had never done that until now. We are making them understand we have taken a big risk off them by doing research and development and clearing the pitfalls, sotheirs is to come in and invest“The FIIRO (Federal Institute of Industrial Research) alone has developed more than 250 research studies up to the point of commercialization. And in incubation, we have an agency in charge that has done up to 1000 products. I have many of the products myself, and these are things we use on daily basis. Our major task now is to get these products into the market, but if they are not commercialised, and maintained, how can people know they exist? We can then start creating jobs. Government will also start earning revenues from the taxes these producers will pay to government to do many things.”Onu also spoke on his recent visits to China and Indonesia for partnerships towards developing Nigeria’s science and technology sector, especially in local production. He described the visits as a success, saying many of the agreementsthat were “reached” would boost local production. He also expressed optimism that Nigeria will be Africa’s technology hub by 2026.

Chapter 2
Jefferson managed to reach his house that night, actually calling it a house was just being modest, the building was a freaking manor, the Tomiwa's were a very powerful, rich and influential family. Jeff's dad, popularly known as the General died a few years ago, leaving a huge amount of wealth for Jeff, the only child, and Vivian his perverse wife.
As Jeff approached the gate, the gateman Abdul recognized his frail silhouette from afar off and ran down to help him with his luggage. Jeff had a strong hatred for Abdul, he found something sketchy about his character but he nevertheless he accepted his offer to help cause he was tired, weak and still sore from the beating.
Once inside the house, he began to notice something was different, he tried to dismiss the feeling but it kept pricking him.
He went to his room, had his bath and took more than the appropriate amount of Panadol and went to bed after the painkillers had done their job.
Around 12:45PM, a strange sound from the living room woke him up. He quickly and quietly made his way to the door of his room and locked it. He heard the noise coming up the stairs. At this point he was sweating profusely and was terrified. Abdul had probably gone to mingle with his Northern friends that make noodles on their street and the helps and cook had gone for the day. Vivian was probably in some club on a drinking spree, so who could it be he wondered.
The sound was getting to close for comfort. There was nothing around he could use to protect himself. Just then his eyes landed on the extension cable plugged to the wall, he quietly unplugged it, removed the outlets, brought out the wires from the rubber casing and wrapped them around the door handle.
He then crawled to the switch and sat by its side waiting for something to happen. He heard the sound about to pass his room, he waited for it to pass silently uttering prayers. Just as it passed his door it stopped. He was perplexed, "was it all in my head" he thought. Just then there was a bang on the door; he felt a trickle of sweat ran through his back. He instinctively switched on the plug and he heard a loud scream. When he noticed the person was hurt and probably still being electrocuted, he quickly tried to turn off the switch, but something inside him didn't allow him; for some reason the person's screams gave him a sense of power; he felt in control and confident.
After some minutes, the screams were getting fainter, he decide to switch it off and see who the unlucky bastard was.
When he opened the door, he could smell sizzled flesh in the air mixed with the air conditioning that was on, it smelt like satisfaction to Jeff for some strange reason.
He brought out his phone to on the flashlight, when he directed the light to the face, he let out a gasp.....

Nairaland / General / 15 Year Old Boy Impregnates 16 Girls by RobinRay(m): 10:12pm On Feb 22, 2016
A 15-year-old boy has ‘mistakenly’ impregnated 16 teenage girls between the ages of 13 and 17 after a pool party went awry.
The boy according to reports by Tallahassee Herald in Florida, United States, the 15-year-old boy who was said to have a ‘highly potent sperm’ ejaculated in the pool without warning his mates. And reports say that this ended up impregnating half of the girls present at the celebration. When the birthday celebrant, Daliah Jennings, was questioned, she said:“I’m glad I didn’t have my swimsuit that day. It was a surprise party to celebrate my 15th birthday, let’s just say that a baby in my womb is the kind of present I’m glad I didn’t get”she said, looking visibly relieved of not getting pregnant. Some of the girls at the party standing on the fact that they did not have sex at the party, the 15-year-old boy said:“Some people in town say we had some kind of wild sex orgy going on and that’s how I got all those girls pregnant, but I’m proud to say that I am still a virgin and that if anyone doesn’t believe me, I’m ready to undergo medical examination to prove it if that’s what it takes. I’ve become some sort of a local celebrity. People come up to me all the time and shake my hand and congratulate me, but I didn’t do anything!”he said, looking sincere. The doctor, who connected all the pregnancy to one cause, Dr. John Suzukima, said:“Clinical tests have proven that people who suffer from spermafortis have sperm counts close to a thousand times more potent and rich in spermatozoids than the average man. This kind of semen is fairly similar to that of common water mammals, such as dolphins, manatees and seals and has properties that make it incredibly resistant to water. This condition could definitely explain what happened in this case but clinical trials and further tests would be needed to prove this theory. While about 14 of the girls are up for abortion, 2 of the impregnated girls will be keeping the babies due to religious beliefs.

Chapter 1
"I warned you, but noooo, you didn't listen, you ran like a lil dog, now look what you made me do, I've gotten blood all over your pretty shirt" said Jeff dementedly as blood gushed from Obinna's belly.
Hol' up......
For you to understand we have to go back.......
Like wayyy back.......
Okay not that back, about a year back.
Perfect.
It was a cool evening in Lagos, the noise from the busy street could be heard from the premises of Awolowo's Academy For The Intellectually Gifted, located somewhere along Bode Thomas Street, Surulere, Lagos. It was relatively more quiet in the premises of the Academy, save for the grunting of Tomiwa Jefferson. The 15 year old was in the middle of a serious beat down by four degenerate numskull bullies who managed to get into the academy due to the influence of their families. Peter and Paul, the notorious twins properly nicknamed "Double Terror" were the ones holding Jefferson down while Obinna delivered precise punches on his stomach and ribs
"Please!!.......stop!.....ugh..........I'm bleeping begging you....ugh" Jeff managed to say amid the barrage of blows and his own tears
"Sharap there" said Obinna in high thickly igbotic voice "You think you can disglace us and go scolt flee..mhmm nna' you must be jokin'".
Obinna went to look around for something to knock Jeff out with when Collins, the typical example of a good kid with bad friends, who was posted to keep watch in case anyone came alerted them that someone was coming.
The twins quickly dropped the badly injured Jefferson and ran away.
"We'll meet next term, idiat" said Obinna as he ran towards the hostel blocks, Collins walked towards the injured Jefferson, looked at him in the eye, and walked away.
A few minutes later, Jeff managed to stand up and make his way towards the hostel, by the time he got there it was completely deserted. He made his way to his bed space where he picked his bag, changed his soiled clothes, washed his face and headed for the gate. It was around 7PM and other parents had already picked up their wards, except for Vivian, his mother, "she didn't show up, she never shows up" thought Jefferson as he angrily walked out of the school premises into the cool dark evening. As he left, he looked back at the Academy and whispered to himself, "Never Again".

I dumped my blackberry for a droid because of blackberry's lack of apps.I was missing out on a lot of utility apps.
I was also tired of carrying two phones , the droids have the dual Sim option.

Imagine trying to update my MasterCard detail s to my google account so that I can get to buy premium apps and I end up receiving 2 emails from scammers about furnishing them with my card details.
