What concerns engineers with prices of oil globally and how it affects the corporation, how does an engineer determine a viable project that will ensure the continuity of the corporation? what do engineers know about the laws guiding oil business locally and internationally? And many more.

On point sir. You are right.
I never advocated for ICT dominance or anything of the like. I only stated the facts that there has been recent expansions and deployment of more ICT services by the corporation which MAY require more hands to manage and support than is currently obtainable in the corporation.
I just don't know what was so difficult to understand from that point, that some people felt the urge to throw insults at me.

NNPC na oil. Any ICT innovation is to reduce human errors, increase efficiency and productivity.

ENGINEERING has the highest slot( I know 100% infact that is the only thing I am sure of in this exercise),it is dumb to think otherwise ( btw I didn't call you dumb )
Operators(Engineers)are the main reason for this recruitment,they call every other profession/course of study support. Y'all should get off your high horse what do you think they do in Nnpc Coding and programming? Engineers are their major concerns ( might take 50% slot in the no of GT) and the they are trained on some IT applications relevant to their job.

Insult me subtly all you want sis, a logical person like the first guy that tried to gave his perspective will understand the points raised and not just talk from intuition or gut feeling.
Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion though.
And I may be 'dumb' but I am sure once there is an expansion, there will definitely be a need for more hands, which was my original point. You are free to make head or tail of what you think.

My view; Facebook, Google etc are solely IT world, who do u expect them to brainstorm ideas with a geologist? Na that can't be. And I believe IT will also be in different area of specialization, so you expect a load of them to be working at FB n Google. NNPC operates majorly around d engineering field both offshore n onshore. This doesn't oppose the fact you said about them employing more ICT but just that ICT can't be more than engineering. If you feel different u can still oppose, we are all learning everyday.

No, I never said they will employ more ICT than Engineering. I don't think anyone knows which field will have the highest slot.
All I am saying is a lot of ICT may be employed based on recent developments and expansions in that area, which will definitely require more ICT staff to handle.

And also, I don't think the corporation has a lot of new openings for engineers right now. You will be employed to either fill the vacancy of those that have retired or no longer with the corporation.
I am saying there has been a recent expansion in the IT infrastructure and services of the corporation which may require more hands than the corporation has always have on their payroll.

Why do you think facebook and other large IT corporations (ICT centric operations) need such a large number of IT staff and engineers. Its just a single platform that has already been developed and not under development, so why?

Brother, I don't want to say you are wrong. But you are wrong. If the operation is ICT centric, you need a lot of people in that department. Remember NNPC is not Banks or one roadside business that employs Jack to do Jonathan's work.

I strongly believe a lot of vacancies have been created for ICT looking at how NNPC has ramped up its IT infrastructure and services in the last few months, the most recent being the 98% automation of the activities of crude oil marketing division and the deployment of web based express customer service solution at the PPMC. Before his retirement, the former GMD also set up a committee of senior staff to oversee the complete transformation of the corporation towards a paperless and digital operation. Implementation of new IT solutions are also ongoing at various subsidiaries and divisions.

Note: I may be totally wrong, but the information strongly suggests that a lot of ICT hopefuls may receive appointment because a large vacuum has been created with all this developments at the corporation.

Was told the same thing by one of the interviewers who came to cheer us up before our interview on 3rd, though he was from a different panel in engineering,
and we were ICT on 10th floor, panel 24

The chairman of my panel specifically told me that they have seen my CV and all (probably my CBT score inclusive), and that the essence of this interview is to affirm that I actually have what I claimed and to meet me in person.

Barring any last minute change, me thinks they ll employ close to 70% of all interviewee
