Politics / Abia 2023: Ikpeazu's Deputy CoS, Don Ubani Visits Alex Otti, In Secret Meeting by RocketHarbalTea: 3:26pm On Feb 09, 2022
The Deputy Chief of Staff to Abia State Government, Mr. Don Ubani, has secretly met a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Dr. Alex Otti, amid rumours of the latter's interest to contest the Abia 2023 Governorship election, we can authoritatively report.

Ubani, who has been pushing for power to be retained in Old Aba zone, arrived Otti's residence at exactly 9:47pm Friday night in a Prado jeep dressed in white attire and immediately proceeded into a private discussion with his host. The visit comes days after the deputy governor's aide accused Governor Ikpeazu of scheming to trade the Old Aba interest for the party's senatorial ticket in 2023.

Otti contested the 2015 Governorship election under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) but lost to the incumbent Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu before decamping to the opposition APC only recently. Ubani's visit, it was gathered, is to convince the Abia North politician to return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2023 Governorship election, having failed to get the governor to support his(Ubani) agenda on the 'Old Aba interest.'

The incumbent Governor Ikpeazu is from Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia South senatorial zone. He succeeded Theodore Orji from Abia Central. The state was first ruled by former Governor Orji Kalu who is from Abia North upon return to democracy in 1999. Going by the 'Abia Charter of Equity', it is believed that power should naturally shift to Abia North having rotated among the three senatorial districts in the state.

Like in Anambra state, where the next round of power rotation is starting from Anambra South, which produced the first elected governor in 1999, with the election of former Central Bank Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, Abia North is looking forward to producing next governor. The zone believes for fairness and equity, it should produce the next governor.

Otti, a former Managing Director of Diamond Bank, is from Abia North senatorial district. Although he lays claim to both Old Aba and Old Bende origin, this Newspaper understands that Ubani finds the 'double origin' as an 'added advantage' and may have informed the ex-Commissioner to convince the former banker to return to PDP and run for Governor, having failed to have Governor Ikpeazu to openly declare support for the Old Aba interest.

“In either ways, if Otti wins governorship, for Ubani, it is a win-win for both the Old Aba(Ubani is rooting for to retain power) and Old Bende and a bigger win for Abia North”, a source privy to the discussions at Otti's residence told this Newspaper, adding, “Ubani believes it is time for Old Aba to complete its 16 years in the spirit of equity and fairness.”

The source also revealed that Ubani requested for mobilisation from his host to carryout extensive lobbying within the PDP ahead of the planned defection. He subsequently informed Otti that he has been reaching out to Abia North political heavyweights within the party to convince stakeholders and power brokers that it is their(Old Aba) turn to produce the next governor.

“Our demand is based on equity and fairness. We will not allow an arrangement where an Ngwa man will handover power to Old Bende. Doing so is insensitive to the feelings and rights of the Old Aba people. We Igbo cannot be saying it is our turn to produce Nigeria’s president and some Igbo would want to marginalise their own brother back home. It is contradictory. We will resist it,” Ubani was quoted as saying.

The Deputy Chief of Staff reportedly boasted that, over his dead body would Governor Ikpeazu succeed in his alleged plot to jettison the 'Abia Charter of Equity' and handover power to a non Old Aba successor in exchange for the party's senatorial ticket in 2023.

The former Commissioner for Information and Strategy had accused Governor Ikpeazu of being deceitful and playing to the whims and caprices of a 'powerful cabal' bent on dictating the political future of the state over his failure to openly declare support for the Old Aba interest.

“If Governor Ikpeazu is interested in going to the Senate in 2023, we won't stop him. But he should support, in words and deed, and quietly handover the reins of power to a successor of the Old Aba bloc for the sake of equality and political justice, it is not about shouting fairness and political justice in Nigeria, charity should begin at home.”

Mr. Ubani declared that the Ukwa la Ngwa people will not forgive Governor Okezie Ikpeazu should he perfect his 'marginalisation plot' and betray the Old Aba political interest in the 2023 governorship race and support the Old Bende bloc against the former.

Meanwhile, a Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state has called on members of the party to caution Mr Ubani and call the deputy governor's aide to order immediately over his moves which he said is capable of leading the party to implosion ahead of the 2023 Governorship race.

Politics / Don Ubani Blasts Ikpeazu Over Alleged Succession Plot by RocketHarbalTea: 8:42pm On Jan 27, 2022
2023: Ikpeazu Plotting to Trade Old Aba Interest for Senate Seat - Don Ubani

The Deputy Chief of Staff to Abia State Deputy Governor, Mr Don Ubani, has alleged plot by the State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu to handover power to a non-Old Aba successor in exchange for a seat at the Senate in 2023.

Ubani accused the Governor of colluding with some highly-placed chieftains and leaders of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the state to jettison the 'Abia charter of equity' and marginalise the Old Aba division in exchange for the party's Senatorial ticket.

The former Commissioner for Information and Strategy made the allegations while playing host to a select political associates at his home, one of the associates who attended the meeting confided in our reporter. He(Ubani) accused the Governor of being politically selfish.

“What is the difference between Ikpeazu and a former Governor of this state who during his time jettisoned the written agreement to handover power to a successor from Old Aba division”, Mr. Ubani was quoted as saying. “I hate deceit.”

The Deputy Chief of Staff accused Governor Ikpeazu of being deceitful and playing to the whims and caprices of a 'powerful cabal' bent on dictating the political future of the state. “Members of our party must caution Mr Governor against this journey, he must not marginalise, emasculate or ridicule the people of Old Aba Division for his own selfish political interest,” Ubani said.

“Nobody should hide under the administrative creation of Senatorial districts to downplay the reality of the two major blocs of Old Aba and Old Bende in the State. It's time for Old Aba to complete its 16 years in the spirit of equity, Ikpeazu must thwart his intentions. We won't stop him from running for Senate, but he must not trade the people of Old Aba to do that.

“If Governor Ikpeazu is interested in going to the Senate in 2023, we won't stop him. But he should support, in words and deed, and quietly handover the reins of power to a successor of the Old Aba bloc for the sake of equality and political justice, it's not all about shouting equality and political justice in Nigeria, charity should begin at home.”

Mr. Ubani declared that the Ukwa la Ngwa people will not forgive Governor Ikpeazu should he perfect his 'marginalisation plot' and betray the Old Aba interest in the 2023 governorship race.

Politics / APC Primaries: Wilson Chidozie Accused Of Presenting Fake WAEC Certificate (Pix) by RocketHarbalTea: 7:59am On Jun 23, 2021
APC PRIMARIES: WILSON CHIDOZIE, WICHTECH CEO, TRIES TO BEWITCH INEC WITH FAKE WAEC CERTIFICATE

The list of Nigerian politicians who have presented fictitious certificates keeps stretching longer. It is, to put it mildly, shameful and humiliating. Nigerians are considered to be the finest educated black people in the world, according to one US report, and are among the most educated immigrants in the country, both vertically and horizontally - Nigerians are now ironically poster-characters for fraudulent certifications, 419 qualifications, and dubious academic affiliation, which is disgusting.

A shocking yet revealing discovery was made recently about Anambra governorship aspirant, Wilson Chidozie. The WAEC certificate of the CEO of a large Nigerian construction conglomerate, Wichtech, has been discovered to be fake.

The said WAEC certificate was issued in December 2004 which implies that Wilson Chidozie sat for his WAEC examinations at the age of 39. This is exceedingly improbable.

An in-depth research into his history and a thorough study of his biography in his recent publications indicate some mistiness around his secondary school education. None of the publications reveal that he ever sat for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination.

Furthermore, specialists who examined the certificate thoroughly found that multiple modifications had been done, and as a result, many of the details supplied on the certificate are suspicious. According to them, the name on the certificate looks to have been attached, and the passport image appears to be that of someone other than the certificate's owner.

Wilson Chidozie has been unable to give an actual copy of his presumed WAEC certificate till now, confirming suspicions. In order to play on the intelligence of INEC officials, APC stakeholders, and the naive people of Anambra, all he had to display was a string of funny-looking photocopies. This is a heinous crime that might cast further doubt on other APC’s candidates for the Anambra 2021 gubernatorial elections.

He who seeks equity must do so with clean hands, hence anyone calling for free, fair, and credible APC primaries must first provide legitimate documents before being allowed to run. APC is anticipated to spring into action to protect the party's image from such a heinous act.

Politics / Soldiers Burn Houses In Ohafia, Abia Over Death Of 7 Soldiers By Unknown Gunmen by RocketHarbalTea: 10:27pm On Jun 13, 2021
Seven Soldiers Killed In Clash With Unknown Gunmen In Abia Community, Houses Burnt

Soldiers of 14 Brigade, Army Headquarters, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Barracks, who invaded Ohafia in the Ohafia Local Government of Abia State in search of gunmen suspected to be members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), have burnt down several houses in the area.

A source who spoke with SaharaReporters on Sunday said a lot of residents and indigenes of Elu, Amangwu, Ebem and Ohafia fled their communities to neighbouring villages due to the constant invasion.

Seven soldiers have now lost their lives in the attack, the source said.

According to him, some unknown gunmen were passing through the Amangwu village when soldiers from the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Barracks launched an attack.

He stated that in the counter-attack, two soldiers got injured while the unknown gunmen fled.

Infuriated, a mass of soldiers from the barracks invaded the town, shooting at people, and burning down houses.

Provoked, residents and indigenes who could no longer bear the constant attacks, shot back and this has led to the death of seven soldiers.

The source said, “Some unknown gunmen, we don't know who they are or where they are coming from, they were passing through Amangwu and they were confronted by soldiers from the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Barracks. Two of the soldiers later got injured and were rushed to the hospital.

“But the soldiers went to regroup and came back en masse. They started harassing people in the community, most especially young men. They arrested a lot of young men, they took them to the barracks.

“They also come from time to time to shoot at people, I mean direct shooting so the people had to retaliate. At first, three soldiers died, then four of them died yesterday, making seven. The other two that were attacked by the gunmen were not even killed, they got injured.

“We don't know why the soldiers keep invading Amangwu, the gunmen are not from here, they just passed through this place. Soldiers should leave Amangwu and its people alone.”

He also stated that a lot of houses in the Amangwu Ohafia community had been burnt.

The soldiers had claimed that members of the ESN were using the houses as their hideout.

Politics / Biafra: Igbos In The US Military Services Write To The Department Of State by RocketHarbalTea: 8:24pm On May 17, 2021
Members of the United States Military of Igbo descent who served or currently serving in the United States Armed Forces under the aegis of the American Veterans of Igbo Descent (AVID) have written to the US department of State over President Buhari's persecution of Igbos in Nigeria.

In a letter jointly signed by Chief Sylvester Onyia, President and Dr. Godson Obiagwu, Secretary, and obtained by IgbereTV, AVID condemned what it called "oppressive condition" of Igbo people entrapped in Nigeria and sought for Department of State's urgent action.

AVID further urged the United States Government to urgently restore the indigenous people of Biafra as a country carved out of Nigeria adding that "only an Independent Biafran Republic will ensure the Safety and Security of Igbo people especially now that Nigeria slid into security dark precipice."

The letter reads in full...

We are citizens of United States who honorably served in various branches of our superior military at different times and on different conflict theaters.

We are members of the American Veterans of Igbo Descent (AVID), incorporated in the state of New Mexico and headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, EIN#: 85-4277623.

Some of our members were born as Igbo tribal ancestry of the southeastern part of Nigeria and became United States citizens by naturalization before or during their military service.

The rest of our members are natural born United States citizens to Igbo tribe Nigerian parents. All our members are therefore honorable men and women who meritoriously served or currently serving in the United States Armed Forces. Our Christian parents, siblings, relatives, classmates, friends, and well-wishers still live in Igbo part of the Southeastern Nigeria.

We are bringing to your notice that we are stressed and stretched beyond elasticity by the oppressive condition of our people entrapped in Nigeria and we seek your urgent action. We are not oblivious to the laissez-faire nature of Nigerian President Mr. Muhammadu Buhari’s leadership. His slothfulness has exacerbated in chaotic gap in national security and freedom of the people. Our attention is drawn to the following life altering events currently going on in Nigeria:

General Insecurity, heinous violence, corruption, and graft, abductions and harassment of hundreds of school children, Incessant kidnappings of law abiding citizens, Breakdown of law and order, Open grazers with AK-47 weapon by Muslim Northern Nigerian brothers of the President killing people at will, Fulani hegemony, murderous slaughter of Non-Fulani ethnic groups, Chronic youth unemployment, Mayhem in the Middle Belt of Nigeria without prosecution or accountability, Free installation and tacit enforcement of Muslim Caliphate in Eastern Nigeria, Atrocities and genocide meted out to Nigerian citizens without consequence, Government appointment of Fulani tribe indigenes to key positions such as: NNPC, RIRS, NCS, NPA, Defense, Finance, Education, Justice, FTC, Agriculture, Police Affairs, Aviation, Communication, Power, Water Resources, FERMA, NYSC, PTDF, NTA, FAAN, EFCC, ICPC, NFIU etc…,

Dastardly act of support for Bokoharam and Myeti Allah Muslim terrorists, Politics of the second Niger bridge, Nigeria where people killed by violence are not counted, Corrupt politicians, impostors, thieves with their government accomplices, Execution of Eastern farmers on their indigenous farm lands with no prosecution, Gruesome rape of young Igbo girls and married women, unprovoked killings, massacre, maiming by Fulani young men and nobody held to account, Army and Police killing of unarmed defenseless youths at Lekey Toll gate, Execution of Christians on church grounds during church worship, Police frequent brutality, Unconstitutional arrests, detention, and killings of political opponents, Abduction and execution of foreigners, Security condition and Human Rights violation, Excessive China monetary loans for development of another country, Government protection of criminals, bandits, terrorists, Epileptic electricity and dilapidated infrastructure, Lack of navigable roads in the Eastern parts of Nigeria, Woeful condition of Universities and academic standards, Government appointments from only Fulani tribe, Eastern Nigerian men pillaged,
slaughtered en mass within their indigenous ancestral land with no consequences, Violent military inversion of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s ancestral home and consequent fatal slaughter of Igbo youths, Forceful conquest of Orlu in Igbo land and its attendant wastage of lives and properties, Culpable, reckless, and gross neglect by federal government, Attacks and massacre of Eastern people of Ebonyi state, Enugu state, Abia state, Anambra state and Imo state, Disproportionate installation of military check points in Igboland, unprovoked harassment of innocent people and monetary extortion, Stifled constitutional freedom and protection of citizen’s lives and properties;
freedom to assembly, association, speech, and extra-judicial killings.

The American Veterans of Igbo Descent unequivocally and officially report these vices to you and seek your consent to review these problems. Our assessment is that Nigeria is irretrievably divided and cannot be ameliorated.

The Igbo people seek referendum to become a new nation called Biafra. The Western Yoruba people wants to become a nation called Oduduwa. The Middle Belt people want to separate from Nigeria and become a new nation.

We urge our nation (United Stated of America) to urgently restore the indigenous people of Biafra as a country carved out of Nigeria. Only this will ensure the Safety and Security of our people especially now that Nigeria slid into security dark precipice.

The people of Southeastern Nigeria have right to self defense. Their youths are infuriated, have no future, and have no guarantee to life, safety, security, and protection. Because of these anomalies, AVID advocates, stands with, and express our unalloyed support for, and take a strong stake in the redemption of our Igbo people.

We therefore declare as we vacate our silence that Southeastern Igbo people have their constitutional rights taken away by Nigerian Fulani led government. AVID stand to assuage the anguish Eastern people of Nigeria have endured by leveraging your support to assure our oppressed people that their suffering will soon end. Our solemn pride and request hinges on the strata of freedom you can provide to our oppressed Igbo people of Nigeria.
