There are indications that Ondo State governor, Olusegun Mimiko has perfected plans to defect to the All Progressive Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The governor yesterday met with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa. LEADERSHIP checks reveal that Mimiko is looking for a soft landing hence the purpose of his visit to the president.
Mimiko had spent one week at the nation’s capital prior to the release of the final list of governorship candidates by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday night.
Jegede, who was Mimiko’s attorney general had emerged as the candidate of the Senator Ahmed Makarfi led faction of the PDP while Ibrahim was elected at a parallel primary in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital. Both were engaged in multiple legal tussles until Thursday when an Abuja Federal High Court judge, Justice Okon Abang decided Jegede’s fate. INEC published Ibrahim’s name a few hours later.

Inec extended the date of its release of its final list till October 27th on Thursday that will contain finalised names of the approved substituted candidates, that is why PDP in Ondo are in panic mode coz they don't know whose name will appear under the party. The AD chairman in the state has long since fowarded Oke's name as replacement to Olowookere before the stipulated deadline. |

jamesversion: Apart from Lagos, no SW state can match Rivers by any developmental index. Lagos is worthy of its accolades having developed for itself a model that works. But it is not a function of Yoruba magic but rather a collective effort of Nigerians in general.
Rivers, Delta, Bayelsa and AkwaIbom have the potential to get to the heights attained by Lagos, if not to even better it. Lagos has gotten enough of our commonwealth, she shouldn't unnecessarily get greedy. You contradicted yourself by saying Lagos developed a model for itself and in another breathe saying it's not a function of Yoruba magic. Yoruba administrators are responsible for that 'magic model' you speak of. Lagos ceased from being a capital over two decades ago, and since then its administration has been firmly in the hands of Yorubas. Its prestige and acclaim since then rests on the shoulders of its Yoruba administrators who have done everything to breathe life into its abandoned infrastructure, urban renewal and phenomenal IGR increase. Without Tinubu and his successors' ingenuous and commendable creativity in fashioning out a developmental roadplan and creating sustainable models of development for the state, Lagos gdp and igr would be a shadow of what it is today. The potential may have always been there but it took these men's uncommon vision and innovation to harness that. There's nothing stopping the likes of Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers and indeed every other state/region from doing the same today with the right crop of leadership. We all saw what Akpabio was able to achieve in his state. Give the Yoruba administrators of Lagos their due credit and quit being a hypocrite. |

Ahmadgani: of course Lagos has the highest GDP but my question is how many PERCENT is Lagos contributing? don't forget that most of what Lagos realise are used to develop the state itself. we are talking of national economy here. Guy, you are talking rubbish. You even went as far as lying to try to misinform people. I did a fact check of your claims about California's gdp contribution to the u.s economy compared to Lagos to Nigeria's and discovered that you don't even know what you're talking about. California's gdp is $2.5-trillion while the total U.S gdp is 16.7-trillion (so Cali merely represents/contributes 15% of America's gdp and not the 30+% you claimed). Lagos gdp is $131-billion while Nigeria's rebased gdp was $510-billion (meaning Lagos contributes atleast 25% of Nigeria's overall gdp). Therefore the premise of your argument doesn't even hold water. But in any case, Lagos will be fine while all you haters can help yourself in the Lagoon. |
Politics › Re: You Eat Lagos’ Salt, Yet Speak Ill Of Lagos - Lasisi Olagunju by RockHard: 7:12am On Oct 17, 2016 |
Ahmadgani: just like lagos, California in the US is not only the most populous state but it is also a house to the entertainment capital of the world. despite the taxes realized from this state, California is contributing about 13% of america GDP which is far the how many percent is Lagos contributing to Nigeria GDP. California as a state have invested in agriculture and energy rld. You obviously made the quoted comment in ignorance because Lagos is IN FACT the California of Nigeria, and making BY FAR the highest contribution to the country's GDP, so much so that its economy is the 7th Largest in the whole of Africa. But we are in agreement that the state shouldn't even bother about any special status but rather continue working on becoming more autonomous and generating more revenue internally to sustain its developmental pace. |

FKO81: Trash he Ijebus too, claimed to be superior to other Yorubas because, according to them, it was the fifth Awujale (king of Ijebu-Ode) that cured Oduduwa (the progenitors of the Yoruba race) of blindness. For them, if the father of all Yorubas was a beneficiary of their fifth ruler, it then meant that they had existed before the foundation of the Yoruba race or at least, before they got to Nigeria.
The first Awujale was said to have come from a place called Waddai, somewhere in present day Sudan. The people are different from their immediate neighbours in Ijebuland
I didn't know Oduduwa was blind You're sick bro.
