Have you had experience with certain groups of people interfering with your personal life up to the extent that they would want to interfere with your romantic and sexual relationship. Please share with me how you where able to handle it and also how you where able to sort it out. I'm in a really messy situation right now.

This might not be related to the thread topic but I believe there an epidemic right now in this country and it's stupidity. something has to done about it.

I come to understand that most people around me get threatened by my presence. Since I was working on stuff beyond their imagination. To me it felt normal but right now, I think they are suffering from inferiority complex seeing I was upto something. I just got to relax and find my way to a place like Lagos where I can sit down and practice or even get a job.

I guess schooling in the south east is the worst thing out there to do. I am leaving this place as soon as I get the opportunity to.

The worst aspect is that the environment is not conducive for studying since they would ensure you are not comfortable learning or studying. They had done everything in their power to see to it that I don't read or study. This post is quite related to one of my other post where I pointed out how I am being bullied and how it has affected my mental health and productivity. It's so strange to see this happening in an academic environment. It turns out maybe I was better off at home. But I am hopeful things would change plus I am adapting to handle the challenges.

Unfortunately I think it's extremely common today in most institutions, you are tagged for ridicules and shame if you don't participate in such malpractice. What is really concerning is the fact that you seem to be the odd one out and it doesn't end there you could get bullied and ridiculed for not wanting to participate in such malpractices.

Let's say you are having an exam or test. Is it okay to cheat? I am not asking from the religious angle. I just want to know if it's okay to cheat if you have the opportunity to. To me I think it's not okay but I would want to get your views and opinions.

I am facing a situation kind of related to this. It's strange that people would want to judge you for whatever reason they perceive to be why you are interested in tech.

For those of you who wants to know the truth here's it:

I was dating this girl should I say just a casual relationship and things wasn't really transparent like there where a lot of things I wasn't okay with. The drama surrounding the relationship was overwhelming. like her family would insult me out of the blue, she would come up and indirectly do the same. I believed they saw me as a puppet and where manipulating and using me. I was actually doing everything to make the relationship work out but, it turns out to be a one sided effort and I had to end the drama. Since then I have faced the worse persecution out there. Not that we got intimate. I guess that's why they are angry at me. I just wanted to be free. I left for school and it turns out they came after me there too. I don't know what they actually wanted or want from me. It's Soo difficult to understand the reason behind their efforts. I guess they felt by going to school, I was like trying to take revenge on them for their actions Soo that is why they are after me.
You see, one way to put me down is to destroy my self esteem.

I learnt that this very girl had an affair with my younger brother so the question is are they taking some sort of revenge on me? Where they disappointed that I didn't bend to their will? Because on the surface actually most people will mistake me for being stupid and foolish. I don't look really bad, but you know what who wants their flaws pointed out? I know I need to be strong. You might blame me for what's happening but I was in a deep mess before now and I don't really want anything to put me back. It's extremely difficult, especially knowing that I am struggling financially too.
Something is wrong out there and I want the internet community to help me sort this out. I could provide you with details such as address and the rest so that you help me out if you really care.
Before now, I am usually indoor and was working on improving my skills in software development so that I could get a job eventually . But I can't wrap my head around what is happening and I need your help

There are threat like I won't even eventually graduate or I should leave. I am pretty concerned about the threat not to talk of the normal difficulty I am facing in the first place.

Please you need to physically talk to someone. A counsellor, a friend, mentor, etc.

I don't know the level you are in the Polytechnic. But if you're staying in a school hostel. I see no reason why your hostel mates behavior towards you should get to you in the first place. They may be older than you but see them as your mates and don't ever allow any of them bully you in whatever form.

The only thing I can sense here is, if they are the noisy type and because of that you can't read or concentrate in your programming stuff. You can leave the room to either the library, reading room in the hostel, or a free space like a free lecture hall you can read. Hostel is a place you meet all kind of people, and I believe if you look deeply you may find someone who can help you out there.

If it's a private hostel (off-campus lodge) you can leave or look for a better place for your mental health. If it's school hostel you can try to see the good part of them (which I believe everyone has) but if they continue to bully you, report to the school management.

Right now, I am thinking of deferring my admission and taking a break. The whole thing has affected my productivity enormously. My mental health is most important to me.

Would I be able to come back when I am okay and start again without paying school fees even though I have spent around a semester plus?

It may affects your self-worth if you allow it get to you. It can also makes you develop high spirit for achievement through a psychological process called "defense mechanism" if you're handling it well.

It's a psychological fact that you can't control the way other people behave towards you, but you can control how their behaviors make you feel.

Don't let their behaviors get to you, make good use of the energy, talk to a professional if you need assistance through the way.

The issue is that this level of bully is extreme. I am being threatened at the same time.. sometimes you would understand that in terms of the threat it might be a joke but before then the damage has already been done. Just because of all this I am having head tension and it's hard to study or read.
Like I don't trust anyone at all. It has also lead to panic attack and anxiety.

I think you should be more specific.

A polytechnic. By mainly fellow students in the hostel and around the campus for my looks and that such kind of looks doesn't deserve to get what I want. This is the worst kind of bullying I have ever received. It has reduced my confidence and my ability to study. I used to be a programmer but they eventually spoilt my PC I believe. And you know I need to be okay to work with a PC especially Since I was interested in Algorithms and problem solving. I am not the same person I was before. This is the worst academic environment ever. I just wish I could leave and find my true self again

How does bullying affect someone in an environment especially academic environment. I am actually in an academic environment and I am being bullied. I believe it is having an impact on me.

You're the one meant to call the police to arrest the criminals that broke into your room.

Okay got into my room through the ceiling. I didn't know about that until recently. I guess they initially reported me to the police and then had to get in or got in before going to the police since they couldn't find something tangible and required some more in depth investigation. They had links to the police and so what would you expect? Maybe they where actually carrying a real investigation on a neutral ground.

Why do keep telling everyone that you're doing tech, why can't you just close your mouth shut. If you don't announce it, no one will find out.

Unfortunately they are my neighbors. I discovered they broke into my room and has been eaves dropping on me for a while. Initially they acted like they had no interest in me but unfortunately that wasn't the case. They had the utmost interest in what I was doing all the time indoors and came up with everything in their power to stop me. Recently I discovered they went ahead to report me to the police for being a yahoo boy. The police actually secretly monitored my activity and discovered I wasn't into those kind of stuff. I am actually looking for a way out.

The surprising aspect is this is within a school environment higher institution for that matter. I was residing in a particular neighborhood. Stayed indoor to work on improving my tech skills. Eventually my neighbors started accusing me of using witchcraft. The persecution was excessive, I left there for school they went ahead to my school told some students around there too, to my surprise, they fell for the same thing and started calling me lots of name too from mockery to all sorts of names like professor in a way that it seems like mockery to me. If not for the fact that I don't have money I would have leave the school by now. I would prefer to go back and improve my skills, look for a job I will attach by the side and eventually get into tech too.
They spoilt my PC. Like the amount of persecution was extreme. I guess this has to do with the fact that for now I decided not to get into any relationship until I might have improved myself financially especially. They actually wanted me to get married to one of their daughter and I don't want to. They didn't approach me directly, set me up, I didn't fall for it, I left and then that's the source of their grievance. Maybe if I had fell for the setup they would have had an open opportunity to deal with me. But since it didn't happen. This is the only means they had to punish me. I don't know why this should be happening. I just help out of the situation. I can't concentrate in class or read effectively anymore. I just need help out of the situation. I am thinking of dropping out, but I don't want to disappoint my mum because she really want me to graduate. I am in HND1 right now studying electrical electronic engineering. I am having panic attacks, anxiety and fear because I have no idea what would happen next.

I used to be someone who believe in working hard and likes improving myself. For a while, I took the time to stay away from social life and work on improving myself indoor. It turns out the people around me want me to stop studying and go around having. I think their believe stem from the fact that I was wasting away using my computer and should go find something doing. The pressure is extreme and to some extent has affected my ability to learn. I wish to leave and go find people who are like minded. I believe I found myself at the wrong place. What do you think I should do. I would really need help leaving this place too. If I had the means I would have leave already. I want your suggestions on what I should do at this point.

Some people want me to leave the internet plus some group of people claiming it is witchcraft. They are serious about it and have done everything about it which includes gaslighting, mockery and insults. it's a long story but I believe I will let the cat out of the bag slowly. One of those dreams include planning to graduate from school soon. Some group of people openly and indirectly said I wasn't going to do that. Have been doing everything in their power to stop me like gaslighting, mocking, insulting including coming over to the institution to do the same. Their reason for this seems extremely ridiculous. I can't believe it but should I say maybe because I didn't marry their daughter or something and choose to improve my life and move on after a failed relationship. Not that I had sex or made any promise explicitly of getting married. We where just friends and when I made the decision to leave all hell was let loose. I have received all kind of indirect threat since then. It's extremely difficult to handle because they don't come to me directly or confront me directly about it but are always by the side making sure they are referring to me
