Famolove :No, you cannot update over the air (OTA). The desire S is not one of the handsets eligible for ics. I cannot recall the steps to root this device as I did mine about 2 years ago. Google it and you'll get plenty of guides and videos on what to do. |
Great! |
^^^ Great... A real comforting discovery |
Brainrex: okay man I will edit the OP later Cool dude...what game is the one u have in the post with rpg written on the picture? |
gameboy727: Please can I play any HD game without cache? I am yet to download the apk file.most hd games require an external file. so if the game you want has them it won't play without them |
febbymi: @op, God bless u. Going to get me one 2mao, at least i knw what to check 4You should know that no retailer will let you test to the extent of installing software on the phone. By the looks of things, if buying a new phone just buy one made late 2012. Date of manufacture is usually indicated on the carton. Also, it doesn't seem like a good idea to buy a used one!!! |
Famolove :unlock your bootloader, root your device and install a ROM. That's what I did with mine ![]() |
yinkade has some very useful information on his thread at https://www.nairaland.com/1430085/samsung-note-2-wont-turn#18029923 I think all note 2 owners should check it out to confirm whether or not their phone is in danger of the "sudden death syndrome" |
Yinkade: update so like 3 days ago i came to complainedabout the above...... well like i said i did my reasearch well and the fault is from samsung....their earlier note 2 16gb models have a particular chip called the insane chip will after 6-12 months use would affect the mother board thtas the suddden death syndrome and it happened to my fone....so well y'all that use a note 2 should download an app called eMMC checker from play store....then run it from the info displayed it would tell you if your fone is prone to the sds....if it does then u shld start planning cos the fone would most likely die a sudden unexpected death....anywaiz i went to samsung care at xxxxx......an assistant attented to me in a rude manner....but i overlooked it...she took my phone...checked the imei number...and said my phone has a uk warranry and not a nigerian warranty....those guys at affordables sold me a phone with uk warranty in nigeria....(Ps...I did not call affordables care cos i knew it was story i would hear and i needed the phone asap).....so the babe told me it would cost 36k....l did not have 36k so i was about walking out..when one of the engineers went outside...i sharply blocked the guy....explained to him as omo boy na begged and begged...the nigga agreed 18k...i was like fine he shld do it.....funny thing was that a friends note had the same sds two weeks ago and he took the fone there they said they did not have the part available...his fone was under warranty so they were gonna do it for free....so when this engineer toom my phone i was skeptical that i would get a call later that they did not have the part....so well today i got a call that my ohine was ready...was really excited tho....met up with the guy and paid him off...now the fone is back........and the good news is that i checked the chip with that app and its a SAne CHIP this time....so my note is back and better....just thought i should share with you guysthis is very good information. I hope you won't mind if I reference you on my own thread? Info like this needs to be shared. My thread is at https://www.nairaland.com/1395830/samsung-galaxy-note-2-owners |
I must say, reading your post scared me A LOT!!! I installed the app and was relieved to see this

wkkwl: please your honest review....I noticed you started another thread on this topic. I'm sure you'll be better served here. Firstly, don't get into the habit of using your battery till the phone switches off. It WILL damage your battery. Secondly, use the ORIGINAL charger that came with the phone. The note 2 charger is a 2 amp one. bb chargers are less than 1 amp and your computer usb is around 500 milli amps. That's why it takes so long to charge with them. Try not to run the screen at full brightness and close apps that are not in use. Sometimes apps remain running in the background consuming more juice |
jreyez: It's a nice concept bro, any game that you don't know search it on googleSearching Google is time consuming. You have these games, you've played most of them and know what they are like. Don't get me wrong, you've done a good job but categorizing these listings would make it an even better job. Break them into categories; rpg, racing, adventure, war and so on... |
Hi Brainrex. It would help if you could categorize this your listing, making it easier to know what's what. |
I have this card purring away in my note 2. It's fantastic and has not slowed down on me at all... http://m.thewirecutter.com/reviews/the-best-microsd-card/ |
Yes, the files need to be on the sd card. |

I think you guys should talk more on user experiences so that those that don't know anything about these phones will have a good picture of what they are about. There is only so much that one can get from reading reviews but a lot can be gained from real, long term user experiences. |
BADNEAT: bro...I'm seeing so many clock work mod. .which one should I install. .xwm rom manager or recovery? ?https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.rommanager&hl=en |
I used to Skype on my nokia n95. For real. |
clockwork mod. cwm. After rooting, install this and backup your current phone status. Make sure you backup to SD card. |
A backup is essential. Once more essential. Repeat, ESSENTIAL. |
BADNEAT: please. ...my note2 is rooted. .wat next? ? How do I go about rom flashing and all dt??Once you've discovered your phone model, visit xda-developers and download roms from there or simply Google it... |
![]() My galaxy note 2, still looking good!!! |
kofsy: Wow! Thanks so much dearYou are soo welcome. Glad to have been of assistance. Were you able to export the contacts in csv format? If you were, you should be able to import it directly into the Samsung. Just save it on the SD card, go to contacts (not phone or dialer) and choose import from SD. Let me know how it goes. |
The Hennessey VelociRaptor... |

i've gone thru the note 3 specs and I cannot see myself going for it. All the software tweaks will soon find their way to the note 2, I'm sure, from those guys at xda-developers. |
