PhonesRe: Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Owners Meet Here... by Rogbese(op): 2:57pm On Sep 05, 2013
NaijaHotGuy: pls guys is it okay to buy an SGN 2 I saw. it has the carrier O2 (I know this cos when i booted it, the O2 logo first came up). will it be possible to root this particular one and is UK USED SGN okay to buy on general (is there sth to look out for). thanks
Nothing wrong with buying London used. However you cannot be sure about the condition of the battery, you will need to buy accessories like charger and earpiece separate.

As for flashing, just make sure you flash roms SPECIFIC to the carrier you bought. It's always better to buy an international version as they are easier to Flash and roms easier to come by.
PhonesRe: Phone Gurus-pls Help On This :( by Rogbese(m): 2:21pm On Sep 05, 2013
check if the contacts backup is in vcf format. If it is, you're in luck. If not, prepare to start typing!!!

Etesam: Reading the thread takes time, my friend.
Asking repeat questions wastes more time. It's also a waste of time for those having to answer the SAME questions over and OVER AGAIN...

4llerbuntu: DISCLAIMER: ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK

THIS WORKS PERFECTLY WITH TOUCHWIZ JELLYBEAN ROMS

YOU NEED TO BE ROOTED

YOU NEED ROOT EXPLORER APP

1. ITS RECOMMENDED TO DO THIS MODIFICATION JUST AFTER YOU INSTALL NEW ROM

2. PLEASE PLEASE take a backup of your internal memory and external memory before doing this modification, just in case if anything goes wrong (99.9% nothing will go wrong) but still to be on safer side, its recommended

3. If you have skipped the #1 then copy all the Android folder and paste it into memory card (yes memory card), so that your pre installed apps works perfectly.

4. Please take a backup of your stock vold.fstab file before trying this

5. CWM Recovery will NOT recognise this SWAP, you will see no change in memory in CWM Recovery, Internal is Internal and External is External there, just like stock.

HOW TO-

open root explorer and navigate to /system/etc, Mount R/W

Find vold.fstab, tap and hold on it and then click open with and choose ''TEXT EDITOR'

Now look for these these lines:

# internal sdcard
{
ums_sys_path = /sys/class/android_usb/f_mass_storage/lun0/file
secure_format = enable
discard = enable
supported_exfat = disable
}
dev_mount sdcard /storage/sdcard0 11 /devices/platform/dw_mmc/mmc_host/mmc0/mmc0 encryptable_nonremovable

# external sdcard
{
ums_sys_path = /sys/class/android_usb/f_mass_storage/lun1/file
android_secure_containers = enable
}
dev_mount sdcard1 /storage/extSdCard auto /devices/platform/s3c-sdhci.2/mmc_host/mmc1

EDIT IT LIKE THIS:

# internal sdcard
{
ums_sys_path = /sys/class/android_usb/f_mass_storage/lun1/file
android_secure_containers = enable
}
dev_mount sdcard /storage/sdcard0 auto /devices/platform/s3c-sdhci.2/mmc_host/mmc1

# external sdcard
{
ums_sys_path = /sys/class/android_usb/f_mass_storage/lun0/file
discard = enable
}
dev_mount sdcard1 /storage/extSdCard 11 /devices/platform/dw_mmc/mmc_host/mmc0/mmc0 encryptable_nonremovable

tap on menu key (soft key) and select ''Save and Exit''

After you tap on it, it comes back to folder, don't do anything, just REBOOT your phone

It should be swapped.

To be safe, please be sure your kernel has CWM and get the AROMA FILE MANAGER.

in case of any mishaps, u can boot into CWM and use it to replace the folders/files you backed up prior to the memory swap.

BTW is the flash memory not faster than a class 10 card or u simply want it because of the size?

anyways, good luck.
Thanks mate! I'm not too sure about the speed difference, I basically want it for the size difference. You are becoming a big asset for this thread. Keep it up Bro.
PhonesRe: Apps That Bricks Android Phones by Rogbese(m): 11:44pm On Aug 21, 2013
Oahray: Ignorance is the most common 'app' that bricks phones. Many of us install apps without finding out about it, just because we have an internet connection.

Some apps are meant for rooted phones only, others for certain roms only (eg chainfire) , still others require some form of knowledge to use them (eg, iFonts, CWM). Just be careful what you install, or what you tamper with on your root folder, and you would never end up with a brick.
Very well said...

Great work, 4llerbuntu. Let's not keep it software only sha o. A bit of hardware tips also. Screen protectors, cases, pouches, memory cards and so on. I use the bluff armour protector on my screen. I've put it through a LOT of abuse and it still looks good. I ordered the zero lemon zl9300 battery to. I'll post pics as soon as it arrives.

What you are looking for is model number. Mine is N7105. This is the international 4g lte model. When you confirm this, you then and ONLY THEN look for and flash the one for your SPECIFIC model.
PhonesRe: Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Owners Meet Here... by Rogbese(op): 6:00pm On Aug 18, 2013
Before asking for help, are you running international or branded? Take a snapshot of your "about" screen and post it here. I've posted mine as an example.

Flashing a custom ROM is a serious affair. PLEASE, make sure you know what you are doing first. Confirm you are using an ORIGINAL Samsung Galaxy note 2. Someone on nairaland tried to sell me a China copy! Also, you will need to know if it's an international version or branded (sprint, AT&T, T Mobile). Visit xda-developers for further info...

PhonesRe: What Will I Gain From Rooting My Sam Galaxy Note2? ? by Rogbese(m): 11:58pm On Aug 13, 2013
Rooting is fairly easy to do. I did mine in under 5 minutes. Sites like xda-developers is a good place to start. People mess up their devices when they rush into it before proper study. I rooted my htc desire s almost three years ago now and its still working fine. I've also helped people do theirs. No big.

Wow! It's good to get such a rich following! Personally I don't know how I managed without this phone. My phone is a games console, e-book reader, social media hub and with my soon to arrive zl9300 battery, a complete power house. Nothing compares to the SGN2. So, lets talk apps, games, launchers, ROMS and all other things that makes this device so sweet. . .
