Samuel Ajirebi, the son of the veteran actor popularly known as Pa James, has shared photos and videos of the sorry state of his father’s house after heavy rainfall.

Samuel said whenever it rains heavily, the canal behind their street overflows and floods surrounding houses and streets. They end up having to manually scoop water out of their homes and this has been going on for a decade, according to him.

He shared the video footages while calling on the Lagos state government to intervene.

ABUJA – The Hope Democratic Party, HDP, on Tuesday, filed a motion before the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja for an order to restrain the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, from swearing-in President Muhammadu Buhari on May 29.

The party and its presidential candidate, Chief Ambrose Owuru, further applied for an order of the tribunal to restrain President Buhari from presenting himself on May 29 or any other date “for swearing in or inaugurate ceremony or taking the Oath of Allegiance and oath if office as the President of Federal Republic of Nigeria, pending the determination of this petition and the question as to whether he has been validly elected as challenged and pending before the court”.


It will be recalled that HDP and its candidate are currently challenging the declaration of President Buhari as winner of the February 23 presidential election

In their petition marked CA/ PEPC/001/2019, the party, urged the tribunal to nullify the outcome of the election and order a fresh poll.

Owuru who secured a total of 1,663 in the presidential election, insisted that the election was not conducted in compliance with the Electoral Act.

Meantime, President Buhari, the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, persuaded the tribunal to grant a short adjournment to enable them respond to the motion.

Consequently, the Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa led tribunal which is conducting its proceedings at the Court of Appeal Headquarters in Abuja, adjourned the the case till May 22 for hearing.

A man has been accused of beating his ex-wife after she denied him sex on a visit to see children. The accused identified as Simbarashe Gumbanjera is reported to have visited his ex-wife named Taremekedzwa Faith Dirwai, 34, but he changed his mission to demand sex on Good Friday in Zimbabwe.

They separated in 2017.

He has since been arrested on accusations of assaulting his former wife.

Dirwai told H-Metro that she delayed in opening the door raising suspicion from Gumbanjera that she was with someone in the house.

“He knocked the door very late coming from Independence celebrations and he was angry since I had delayed in opening the door,” said Dirwai.

“He never asked to see the children only to ask for sex accusing me of accommodating another man. “We separated in 2017 when he left the family to cohabit with another woman in Goromonzi.

“He assaulted me after I denied him sex in front of our children; he never gives any support or bring groceries for the holiday. “Gumbanjera threatened to beat up the children if anyone of them shouted for help; neighbours arrived leading to his arrest.

The Akwa Ibom state police command have arrested a man, Essien Okon, and his wife, Peace, for allegedly killing their 12-year-old son, Joseph.

According to the police, Essien and his wife, Peace allegedly prepared a poisonous concoction with a certain seed called asene and forced the boy to drink it so he can die because they believed he was a wizard and was responsible for the ill-luck they have encountered for many years.

When interrogated, Essien said his son was a wizard, who killed his former wife who was his mother. Essien said after the demise of Joseph’s mother, he got married to Peace and that ever since then, his family has not known any progress.

Confirming his arrest, the state Commissioner of Police, Zaki Ahmed, said

“On March 25, 2019, operatives of Oron division arrested one Essien Okon and Peace Okon of Edoho Emma Street, Oron Local Government Area, who conspired and lured their son, Joseph Okon, now deceased, whom they accused of witchcraft, into an engine boat on the pretext of going to cut bamboo sticks in a swamp to be used for construction of a kitchen. http://gisthubnaija.com/

The police headquarters in Abuja has announced the arrest of one , 48, said to be the “spiritual father” of armed robbers, kidnappers and other criminals terrorizing motorists and other road users along the Abuja/Kaduna highway. http://gisthubnaija.com/

The suspect, who hails from Dutsinma Local Government Area of Katsina State, is said to specialize in providing spiritual cover for criminals operating along Abuja-Kaduna expressway and parts of other North-West/North-Central States. http://gisthubnaija.com/

Abubakar was arrested in a forest, at Galadimawa Village, Kaduna State.

Force public relations officer Frank Mba, who made this known in Abuja, also announced the arrest of one Godwin Ige, a.k.a ‘White’, 28, said to be the fourth member of the gang responsible for the kidnap of Channels Television Staff Mr Friday Okeregbe.

Mba said the suspects were arrested by detectives from the Inspector General’s Intelligence Response Unit (IRT) and other operatives attached to Operation Puff Adder, launched to wipe out criminals operating on the country’s highways.

The police spokesman, in a statement said:

“In continuation of efforts to rid the Abuja – Kaduna Expressway of Kidnapping and other heinous crimes, cracked detectives from the IGP Intelligence Response Unit (IRT) and other operatives attached to Operation Puff Adder have arrested one Mallam Salisu Abubakar, 48yrs old, a native of Dutsinma LGA, Katsina State. The Mallam, a self-confessed spiritual father of kidnappers terrorizing Abuja-Kaduna expressway and parts of other North-West/North-Central States of the Country, was arrested on 16th April, 2019, following painstaking intelligence and subsequent manhunt, in his hideout, in a forest, at Galadimawa Village, Kaduna State.

“Investigation has clearly implicated the suspect for aiding and abetting the commission of several high-profile armed robbery and kidnapping operations in the North West and North Central States of the Country. The suspect is notorious for providing spiritual guidance and intelligence for kidnappers, before and after their operations. His arrest, no doubt, will assist Police operatives to apprehend several other kidnappers and vicious criminals still at large.
