The deed was done in his first statement. He was only hitting the "damage control" button. A president should never say something like that. For him to say it means it's something he has thought about and it's in his mind. I can bet he didn't know when it dropped out of his mouth, he realized it and he was trying to salvage the situation.
Very true.
Words are powerful and u can't retrieve them once out. It would've bn better if he apologized by words or by actions rather than have APC e rats defending it. With the reality on ground now, The more they defend it, the more they insult our collective intelligence

The OP is just a deluded fellow.

True, patriotic Nigerians do not seek validation or self-actualization just because someone from their tribe who they do not know, and who does not care if they are alive or dead is appointed into any position. True Nigerians want the best people for the jobs, appointed with MERIT as the sole criteria.

Counting appointments at this stage is just laughable, when the bulk of the appointments are yet to be made, and when a significant restructure of our establishments is rumored.

I wish the OP would tell us what exactly changed in her life from the people appointed from her tribe in the last administration. Does my life change one day if someone from a village near mine suddenly gets appointed as NCC director?

Sane minds are worrying about how to build their nation and we're still getting mired in this level of discourse. in 2015.

Pathetic
I completely agree with u but This advice is for our Yoruba brothers

An average Igbo man is racking his brain on how to deposit/transfer dollars to china for his container on the high sea cheesy

It's Yorubas that are dancing up and down over spokesman job

Oh I forgot, Buhari didn't even help with his 5% statement
Or are u preaching I should be more patriotic than the president himself?

Tribal bigots all over this thread and these idiotss are from the land of worthless humans called Igbos......

Am i surprised to read all these gibberish from these fools? No.

Historically, the same Igbos has been selling out the rest of the South since Independence by forming political alliance with the same Northern Oligarchy at the expense of South and South West.

We-Southerners all thought that we have seen enough backstabbings from Igbos until lgbos shamelessly did it again in 1979 by jumping into political alliance with the same people who bleep their grandmothers and killed their worthless grandfathers like animals they were in just concluded civil war. What a shame!!!

Yorubas played opposition right from independence till 2015. Yorubas successfully formed a single alliance with the same North since independence and these useless Igbos are wailing...
Is that why they're having orgasm over spokesman appointment as against 15 sensitive appointments to the north?
Is that why they're rubbing it in our faces that they are mere commisioner?

Looking at the bolded, was Obasanjo an Igbo abi Hausa man?

so this is all about your grudge with the Yoruba,
u didn't see the comment of some people that the new NNPC MD is SS and not SE as divisive
u see what am saying , ur hands are not clean too, when it comes to tribalism.
and why did u miss out this part of Buhari's speech

''By the constitution, no state can be excluded from government, so there is no way even if I were to show gratitude to those constituencies that voted heavily for me against those that didn’t even vote for me, they have the protection of the government. And I have made an undertaking that I belong to everybody, I belong to no body. If I come clearly and marginalize a certain group because they didn’t vote for me then I have already contradicted myself and I am sure people will be quick to pick that against me.”
@ the bolded, I hope you're not new on this section of nl
The guys saying he's SE and not SS are still Yorubas
I've compiled some of the impostors and that will be my next thread.

As per Buhari, are u saying u don't see anything wrong in that statement? Did u deliberately miss out the first part of his statement?
For me, that last part was added by him because he realized the first part came out so wrong so he began to correct it.
Even if u isolate the last part, it still implies that he would've loved to do otherwise but for the constitution and his word during campaign.
Meaning he's being compelled against his wish at this time.

Now answer me in all honesty; do u think a president from a developed country can make such a statement on camera and get away with it?

But once u mention Biafra, they claim SS and tell them not to associate with Igbos

Why will u say jumping up and down , who are the people that started saying he is from South south and Igbo. Who are the people that started saying he schooled in the north and has led in sokoto before, who are the people that says he's northern oil cabal candidate. So if u want to talk of jumping up and down ,everyone that has opened a thread on this topic and/or commented on any of the thread is actually involved in the jumping up and down.
To your questions: It's ALL Yorubas believe me

Since the Biafra issue was resurrected, Yorubas have bn crying more than the bereaved and will go to any length(including claiming Igbos) to cause disunity btw SS and SE

No matter how much I try not to comment on tribal related threads, sometimes I just cant help but call out the many one Nigeria chanters.

I don't understand why any person/tribe would so brazenly think it has the right to lord over others and term them second class.

The SS have failed to speak in unison. They are constantly reminded by some people how they were saved from some people. undecided

These self-acclaimed liberators always feel the need to taut the SS and remind them why they have to be loyal and prostrate to them for allowing them to have a say in 'one Nigeria'.

Thus, the latest episode, Mr Ibe's appointment, should not be an exception.
He is a 'second class' citizen and his people, once again, have to be grateful to the liberators for allowing their son to head NNPC, an institution that ironically exists almost exclusively because of them.

Change is not only constant, but a must. The day of reckoning beckons.
The main reason for this thread cos the whole thing makes no sense

One Nigeria indeed

As for their non-chalance, I think it's pretty obvious that the yoruba's interests in politics have diminished. They do not see the value in it anymore. Instead, the focus is now shifting towards intellectual and technological pursuits. Igbo should do the same too. Don't you think?

@rose2014,

I've sampled opinion in the south east, these online outbursts seem to be the product of some people determined to frustrate this government. The rest of the country are waiting patiently for ministerial appointments and there are many others coming, I do not understand why people from SE are so much in a hurry to criticize this government.

Even in the last administration, Yorubas who felt marginalized had to meet jonathan formally on this issue, what happened to composure and patience? Why all the insult against the president? If it were you in power, what would you do different? All I see is Hipocrisy everywhere, it you guys are really fighting for your people, fight for equity in federal presence in the SE, political appointments from the last administration seem not to be the problem of the region as it yielded nothing in terms of development
@d bolded an average southeasterner is business minded and doesn't bother on who Buhari appoints but Buhari himself is the one trying to drive it hard to them that he hates them

And online like nl, u see Yorubas taunting Igbos over the so called appointments which brings about our reaction

@Topic I believe we all need to look beyond 'our man mentality' this will take us no where, of what particularly importance was obasanjo's tenure to Yoruba as a region and what did Niger Delta achieve from GEJ as a region. If Buhari wake up today to start sharing the post one for one amidst the ethnic group, it will still not reach me for now, and of it does I'll only feel obliged to be committed to how the person succeed , and not how to gain from it so why should we be particular about which tribe.

It'll do you a lot of good to go back and re-read why I used 'slave mentality' on the poster I quoted.

As per bigot, let me assume you're not aware but Buhari said in his US interview that he'll love to marginalize SS and SE for giving him 5% vote but he added that the constitution has tied his hands from doing it the way he would love to.
While he was making his lopsided appointments, he was asked this question around an all-inclusive govt and that was his epic response

Alright. Ignore any Yoruba or hausa that says Igbo should rejoice over that. It is indeed their right. And we cannot deny them if it. Buhari should stop his bigotry and appoint the people equally.
Imagine over 19 appointments and only 4 to whole south altogether but Yorubas don't see any problem with it. It beats my imagination

Now they want us to hold a thanksgiving service over NNPC appointment while witch hunting GEJ

Their son is not fit to be president and we should hold thanksgiving service over NNPC GMD
Such an insult

Just tell Buhari to hurry up with his campaign promises. The appointment ish is already boring
PoliticsNNPC Appointment: Before We Forget by Rose2014(op):
So far this government has made over 19 appointments out of which about 15 are northerners while 4 are southerners.smh

What I don't understand is why Yorubas don't see anything wrong with the lopsided appointments rather they want SS to hold a thanksgiving service because Kachikwu is from SS.

First of all, is NNPC oil not coming from SS? If not for marginalization in nigeria, why would a SSner be excited over NNPC appointment?

Well I guess when u consider the fact that a refinery was cited all the way in Kaduna while the oil is coming from same SS, anything is possible in Nigeria

Lastly, to set the record straight, an average Igbo man has given up on buhari and his so called appointments. He made it clear in his US interview that he's out to marginalize those that gave him 5% and he's making good of his threat, Even if he gives the rest of the appointments now to SS or SE, people like me will naturally not be excited for out of the abundance of his heart, his mouth has already spoken.
This explains why no Igbo man/woman I know have even made any comment about the NNPC appointment rather the Igbo man is thinking of another strategy to make millions out of Nigerian catastrophe.

Don't forget The 5% statement by buhari has made another Igbo man a millionaire.
Most of the people on nl are not even thinking of how to generate wealth out of the current trend rather they're hoping that appointing their kinsmen will put food on their table(a topic for another day)

Now what I want to know is why people think SS should hold a thanksgiving service because NNPC appointment which should be their birthright anyway? Who should have gotten the appointment before? Another Daura guy?

Mature response please. No insults
