How does strength of military or police put food on my table? So anyone who gives a contrary view on this topic is bokoharam. Well that's your business. I wanted to use derogatory words on you in response to you calling me bokoharam, but it would amount to descending to your level. Issues must be looked at from all perspectives, without cyber bullying. While I don't like fracas between security agencies, I feel the situation in Adamawa State would have been avoided if the police had immediately reached out to the military and detained the policeman who killed a soldier. The slain soldier and policeman are both Nigerian's. No Nigerian is more Nigerian than the other. IamANigerianMan: |

Ogbuefi2020:The funny thing is that many Yoruba's who are my friends voted against APC in Lagos. Some unenlightened Yoruba' s think the clamor for change of party structure is a tribal thing (Yoruba vs Igbo), not knowing that its borne out of frustration on the performance of the APC in the state and the wanton looting of its resources, while using only a fraction for development. I believe that if Lagos had a more prudent and sincere government, it would be more developed than it is currently. Again, if a Yoruba woman can be overwhelmingly voted for into the Senate in the FCT, i dont see why Igbo or even Hausa cannot be voted as Governor of Lagos, provided the people believe in him. Remember, Lagos still holds the sentiments of being a former FCT. |
Dapagun:All eyes will be on Tinubu and change the negative perception Nigerians have against the APC, otherwise, they would have it very rough. Its one thing to win election and another thing to perform. |
FreeStuffsNG:Good analysis for a bad product. |
[quote author=Racoon post=119981066]Imagine these terrorists coming so close to a striking distance of the FCT @ Masaka. This is just a failure of intelligence. Yet the DSS can go hijack Nnamdi Kanu from Kenya? Is it not the same intelligence that led to their arrest? |
At this point in time, it is necessary for world powers to intervene and bring the war to an end, without taking sides with Russia or the US. I said US not Ukraine because Ukraine is being used by the US to fight proxy war with Russia. I feel the war is not necessary because of the negative impact it is having on the world economy, coupled with other factors such as climate change(flooding) which have made life unbearable for everyone. I am not a fan of Russia and i have my own issues with the US, but aside gas and munitions, of what other use is Russia to the world. I believe even the enemies of the US (supporters of Russia), if given the opportunity to JAPA, will choose the US and where it is not possible, they will prefer UK, other western nations or even Asia. |
Bontafa:The same way you always drag other tribes and don't want your to be dragged. Always crying more than the bereaved. |
Well, the Queen is dead and resting. I don't know why people are trying to dig out her right or wrong now that she is gone, even going to the extent of posting fake visuals. Though some Easterners will say she made them suffer during the war, but remember the Queen or King of England is only ceremonial. The Head of Government is the prime minister and as such any grievances should be channeled to the government in place as at the time of the Nigerian Civil War. So get your facts right and leave the dead alone. I don't now why some Easterners or Igbos cry more than the bereaved. If one were to critically examine Nigerian history, it is glaring that those who staged the first coup in Nigeria were Igbos and imagine staging a coup and killing the leaders from other regions, while Aguiyi Ironsi who later became Head of State did not execute the coup plotters simply because of sentiments. These events led to the killing of Ironsi and Igbos and also led to the Nigerian Civil War. So as you point one finger at others, 4 are pointing back at you. Imagine how things would have been in Nigeria if Kaduna Nzeogwu and co did not create the platform for violent takeover of governments. |
techmo:First and foremost we should give credit to the players for their performance because they are the ones doing the job. Secondly we should credit Rohr for assembling the team. Personally, I think the only area that helped Eguaveon is the guts he displayed by benching some regulars like Iwobi, Musa, who are not on form. However, we should allow the man to concentrate on his job. He has only played 3 games and has 4 more to win the trophy. If we remember his performances in other coaching roles he has handled, then we know that it's too early to start hyping him. We should also not forget that JJ Okocha, Kanu Nwankwo and some other ex-internatiinals were drafted in interim capacity to assist Eguaveon. They also deserve credit. Finally, there has not been complaints from the players about non payment of bonuses. We all know that it's a very big MORALE booster. Probably its the reason for their dedication this time around, thus Pinnick deserved credit. |
PrinceOfLagos:In a battle, there will be casualties. Its what the soldiers have signed for to protect the interest of the country. Don't bring unnecessary sentiments to this thread abeg. If you have tribal problems, find a way to solve it. May God bless the souls of our gallant heroes. |
MyopicMods:We keep talking about war, war, war. It is never the solution to any problem and it does not guarantee freedom. We should not support any group that goes around killing innocent persons, irrespective of whether the person is of the same tribe, religion or faith as ours. If you go to IDP Camps, you would understand. We should remember that war or violence does not guarantee freedom. War is only delightful to those who have never experienced it. Even soldiers do not pray for war. |
Go to settings, select app, select google play store, select settings, select clear cache. If it doesn't work, create another google account. If it doesn't work, go to settings, select connections, select more network, select APN, clear proxy, reset to default or select reset all network settings. The first option should work, but if none works, you may have to free up space in your phone by deleting irrelevant apps. |
DMerciful:This plane is actually one of the latest and a modern light attack aircraft being used by the US military. It's design with propeller is based on the role it will play as it is meant to give close air support to ground troops especially in counter terrorism operations. It can fire machine gun and cannon bombs, unlike non propeller aircraft which is mainly for air to air battle and operates on high altitude. |
dre11:When the police are trying to do their work, you hear all types of allegations against them. When they leave their post, people begin to accuse them for not doing their work. Sometimes we should learn to appreciate the work police and other security agencies are doing instead of being always critical. I am sure if the police are in their duty place you will see persons deliberately trying to undermine them by disobeying the lockdown order and as soon as police react, they begin to shout human rights. |
jarx:No battle has ever been prosecuted without casualties. Soldiers are not sent to death traps they only carryout their duties and if necessary, pay the ultimate price (death) for their father land. |
Centcanada:Because they are fighting Boko Haram, they should not eat good food abi? |
This is a very serious morale booster for the troops especially with the recent challenges. It's not easy to prosecute a war and most times when troops morale is shaky, there is need to boost them up. This gesture though not the first by the Chief of Army Staff, is highly commendable. We would get there soon. The only Service Chief in the history of Nigeria who has ever advanced on foot with soldiers even up to Sambisa Forest. Regrettably the press do not report such, they only wait for a little hitch which they over exaggerate. The Chief of Army Staff is also formulating policies to boost welfare of personnel and their families, especially children of deceased personnel who are being trained up to university level. I remember a former Chief who sent soldiers to battle without any equipment and sentenced many of them to death when their location fell to Boko Haram, while others were summarily dismissed without fair hearing. May God continue to bless Lt Gen Tukur Butatai. Sometimes you never know what you have until we you loose it. |
This Chadian President is beginning to make too much noise oh. When did Nigerian Government request for any captured arms or ammunition. |

idealogical:Good. Even our soldiers who died recently was as a result of blast caused by RPG fire which struck a truck carrying armaments for artillery. They weren't dislodged. No battle can be prosecuted without casualties on both sides. Even the Americans fumbled in Vietnam and Somalia. British were almost disgraced by Argentina at the Falklands. |
Warfare does not only imply offensive operations. Troops will also carryout defensive operations. They must have a base from which the go out to operate and retire to. Chadian Army were attacked in their base where over 90 personnel were killed. |
Our problems in this country is more than Chad's issue. No country has gotten it totally right in every aspect, even US military have lost woefully in the past to Vietnam and Somalia. Right now, we should be giving accolades to our medical team who are fighting COVID - 19 (which is worst than Boko Haram) and also discharging recovered patients weekly. Indeed not every thing in Nigeria is bad. |
If someone takes a good look at what was claimed to have been captured by Chadians, 95% of those weapons are Dane guns. It's what Chad tells us that we would believe and all of a sudden Nigerian Army have become useless. If our police and civil defense were doing their work well, we won't have Army in town doing police duties. Because a few misguided elements in the Army misbehave, does not mean the whole Army is useless. Besides it has been proven over time that no organization disciplines its staff like the Army and its even the loyalty of Nigerian Army that has helped to keep this country as one. |
Out Army did very well in the fight against Boko Haram, especially in Sambisa Forest where they are no longer as strong as before. During the 2015 - 2018 era of the war, our soldiers performed wonders and Boko Haram could not even face the army in battle. The terrorists were then pushed to the fringes of Lake Chad which borders Nigeria, Cameroon, Niger and Chad. Presently, there is relative peace in those areas bordering Cameroon because they played their part. Such could not be said about the Chadians and Nigeriens who remained practically neutral or in most cases had some of their rebel factions aiding the Boko Haram against Nigerian troops. Idris Deby only decided to declare war against Boko Haram after over 90 of his soldiers were killed and countless equipment carted away. If you analyse Shekaus video, you will understand that he was trying to convince Chad why they are not supposed to attack his troops. It could also be deduced that the action of his men was made in error, unlike when there is fracas between his men and Nigerian troops. In this our country Nigeria, we have had great fighters such as Abu Ali, Micah and many others. They made their exploits at the rank of Major. So, for a country like Chad whose President has to be on ground before his troops fight, it tells a lot about the failure of his junior commanders and service chiefs. It would also interest you to know that MNJTF was a brain child of Nigerian government with countries along the Lake Chad area and its headquarters is also in Njamena Chad. Though being a multinational outfit, Nigeria has been the sole contributor in terms of funds and logistics. One thing to note is that a country whose borders, air and waterways is not adequately protected cannot be secured, however, out neighbors at the borders do not want to do their part. Instead Boko Haram have found secured passage for bringing in arms to fight Nigeria. Subsequently, the solution to this is that the Nigerian government should go into massive recruitment of soldiers and purchase of adequate equipment so that we would adequately secure both our land borders and water space. My respect to our soldiers who have paid the supreme price and also to those who are currently in the battle front. |
I think Nigeria should adopt the Israeli method where by every young citizen above the age of 18 years is made to undergo compulsory military service for a minimum of 3 years and thereafter retire to reserve. It could afford most people an understanding of how the military operates. |
Energy being used to abuse our soldiers many of whom have laid down their lives and future to defend this country, should be channeled to our fellow civilians (politicians) of whom it is their duty to ensure they provide the necessary funding for the soldiers. It is necessary to know how procurement for military equipment is done in Nigeria before one starts castigating the service chiefs or any other soldier. But for clearity, procurement and liaison for military equipment has little to do with the serving personnel. All this writeup is not to discredit the Chadian Army as kudos must be given to whom it is due, however just as they recorded successes, out soldiers even with the neglect from our fellow civilian politicians have also recorded successes. Similarly just as the Chadian Soldiers have recorded defeats in some battles, we have also recorded defeats in some battles. Overall, as far as Boko Haram have not taken over administration of the North Eastern Nigeria, the overall military campaign cannot be said to be a failure, it is a work in progress. |
Toscarel:Very true. We keep disrespecting the armed forces by bringing them to do the work of police simply because the police cannot purge themselves of laxity. |
Just carry SARS to forcefully eject him. What he is doing is same as robbery. He has studied your psyche and discovered you are weaklings. So he is benefiting from it. |
The IGP has done well since his appointment. I think since 1999 he's the best IGP. Very quiet and hardworking. May God bless him and give him the courage to work harder for Naija. |
