velocity25: How exactly are they ''doing better'' than Nigeria? Rwanda's GDP per capita is 820 USD compared to Nigeria's 3,000. Namibia is just a small version of South Africa, with the minority whites owning much of the wealth, while the blacks live in penury. Botswana have done great, but they have a lot of experience in statecraft, as Africa's oldest democracy, having established a marriage of traditional and western government systems, and created a system that works based on learning from past mistakes. They also benefit from being proximate to the advanced large, South African economy with whom they do a lot of business. But they are a drop in the ocean. They are literally the ONLY small African nation doing well. So statistically, the chances of your new republic becoming a 'Botswana' are 1 in 50. Are you willing to take that chance and risk becoming a Sierra Leone, Guinea, or South Sudan instead? That is the question. 6 Likes 3 Shares |

Ofodirinwa: Wow, all this ''nos'' and you are still alive? How come? You must be living on a tree in the jungle. By the way, what stops YOU from setting up a small toothpick manufacturing outfit in your backyard? Don't you have the brains to produce toothpicks, or you are waiting for Buhari to use our budget to build toothpick factories for you? 4 Likes 1 Share |

Ofodirinwa: Lebanese, Indians, and Chinese go to Sierra Leone to do business, and as a slave to light skin, you don't demean them by saying they are going to Sierra Leone ''to find a better life.''. Nigerians who go to Togo and Sierra Leone are 100% BUSINESS PEOPLE just like those Chinese, Indians, and Lebanese who go there. Sierra Leone is a very poor country with a GDP per capita of 520 dollars compared to Nigeria's 3,000 dollars app. So Nigerians go there for BUSINESS not ''for a better life'', Mr inferiority complex. As for Chad, their GDP per capita is 708 dollars, their military is ranked nowhere near the Nigerian military, whether or not they helped us in the past. Other nations help the US army in various military campaigns and you don't insult the US. So get rid of your inferiority complex and self hate. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Ofodirinwa: Oh sure. I bet they can ban Twitter too, as well as nationalise western companies like British Petroleum, and ground British Airways planes, like Nigeria has done. Keep deluding yourself about that tiny French colony under Macron's jackboots. |
Politics / OBJ Said Nigeria's Breakup Will Lead To ''Weak Republics''. He Was Right. by Rossiminku: 4:50am On Jun 19, 2021 |
OBJ was right. Whether you are Ibom Republic, Oduduwa Republic, Biafra Republic, or whatever. The story will be the same. Your new republic will be a tiny weak bitch of the western powers just like Equatorial Guinea. They have oil money, which one dictator just sits there sharing among his family and local/foreign cronies, while the population sees little to nothing. Here's what your president would do. He will hire foreign mercenaries from say Israel or USA, plus his elite troops to guard his palace, and he will clamp down on opposition, be highly corrupt, and he will have the backing of the western powers. If he tries to turn good leader and develop the country, he will be assassinated or have western-sponsored rebels sent against him, to topple him. That's how it works with small, resource-rich African countries. That's the script that been in operation since before you were born. Today, you live in a country that has the power and authority to ban Twitter, a major international player. Your tiny new republic's President will not have the audacity or capacity to ban Twitter. One threatening phone call from a US marshal, or the French President's SECRETARY, to topple the government in a coup or military invasion, and the idea will be dropped like a hot potato. I mean, the French govt will be all over you like a rash. They specialize in subjugating and robbing small West African countries. Your leader couldn't do anything without their express approval. They might force you to adopt the French Franc, using all sorts of blackmail methods, denying you a currency, and controlling your money flow. Are Nigeria's problems insurmountable? Hell no. All it takes is a change of administration to a southern president, as per rotation policy, in a year and half, and suddenly, the south holds power to change things, like PDP did for 16 years (and misused it). The new southern administration could restructure Nigeria to their hearts' content, and that would be that. Why PDP never did this, I haven't a clue. Expecting a northern administration to now do it, is madness, when YOU couldn't do it as a southern govt. The Fulani threat is seriously overblown. Where were they in the 16 years of PDP rule? Nowhere. They were quiet. So they are not worth breaking Nigeria up for. So Nigeria is doable. Your solution is not to turn into little, insignificant Sierra Leones, Togos, and Malawis. Nations who sneeze, and nobody hears. ''Weak republics'', as they were termed by General Olusegun Obasanjo, respected African statesman, and two-time Nigerian president. Nigeria must stand. The ONE black nation on Earth that can ban Twitter, and not bat an eyelid. Have them crawling to her to beg for forgiveness, being Africa's largest and most buoyant internet ecosystem. It was a dramatic expression of sovereignty and independence that jolted the world. You will miss Nigeria if you lose Her. The light of the Giant of Africa, the hope of every black man on Earth, Africa's biggest economy and rising superpower, the cultural, musical, film, fashion and sports capital of Africa, projected to become the world's 3rd most populous nation after India and China by 2050, VIRTUALLY GUARANTEEING her industrial and economic advancement, and her investment magnet status as the world's 3rd largest consumer market, THAT LIGHT, THAT SINGLE HOPE OF THE BLACK RACE, NIGERIA, must not be extinguished from the Earth. 10 Likes 3 Shares |

Simran94: Dumbo, did NNPC build any giant headquarters in China despite China being our biggest oil buyer? Siting your headquarters somewhere does not mean that that is where you make the most money, or else Ghana would be Number 55 on the list of African nations to site Twitter HQ. 1 Like |

If those platforms you listed refuse to comply with Nigerian law, they will be kicked out of the Nigerian market. Numerous other apps will take their place. The Indian - built platform, [kooo], is already making inroads to Nigeria following the Twitter ban. 1 Like |

Acidosis: Dumbo, Nigeria's annual budget based on its earnings last year was 35 billion dollars, NOT 8 billion, plus Nigeria's annual GDP is 1.16 TRILLION dollars. So Twitter, which earned 1.2 billion dollars last year, not 3 billion like you falsely claimed, is an invisible ant compared to NIGERIA. |

GreenFarmsNG: Biggest middle class in Africa and biggest economy in Africa, with an annual GDP of 1.16 TRILLION dollars per annum, calculated by PPP (Purchasing Power Parity). Twitter, by comparison, earned 1.2 billion dollars last year. That is chicken change for top Nigerian business conglomerates, not to mention the Nigerian govt. Twitter is shiit compared to Nigeria. 68 Likes 8 Shares |
