Princedapace: Bro, at least, Indians who come here come here as tech guys, they arent here hustling up and down like we do over there. No one respects a parasite bro.
Nigerians are known to run anywhere to in this world just to escape their country. First off, you ignorant dunce, less than 10% of Indians in Nigeria are ''tech guys''. Many do illegal business here including illegal mining, smuggling, and peddling of fake drugs. They escaped India because their country wasn't working for them. In the UK, USA and Europe, there are far more Indians and Pakistanis who have escaped their countries, than there are Nigerians. Plus Nigerians in India comprise mostly students and traders, and are not ''parasites'', so do get rid of your self hatred and inferiority complex that makes you justify the persecution of your own people. |

Nigerians use tribalism and nepotism to finish their country and want other countries to grant merit and treat them well. Not possible. Stop making excuses for racism and your inferiority complex. Indians themselves, is their country ''fixed''? Name one problem we have in Nigeria that they don't have in India, from power cuts to bad roads to illiteracy, corruption, poverty, nepotism, you name it. Yet they are treated with respect in Nigeria. Therefore THEY need to do the same to Nigerians in THEIR country. |

planetx: Why would anyone go to India to hustle when an average Indian will give an arm and a leg to get the hell out of India. Because many Nigerians have a colonial, racial inferiority complex and believe that any place with lighter-skinnned people must be better than Nigeria. That's why you have some of them working as slaves in Libya today, even former bankers, despite Libya being a war-torn hellhole. |

Goel: Next day, they will again be arrested for trafficking drugs or doing gangwars on streets on Delhi and African Union will accuse of India of racism. Unlike racist whites, Indians had a relatively good image of Africans until they started to come here. Shut up, fool. You indians have ALWAYS been racist against black people. Even your rotten, barbaric culture considers the black 'Dalits' as 'untouchables'. India was founded and civilized by BLACK Africans, whom you call Dravidians, and all your old gods like Krishna, Vishnu, Brahma, and the rest were originally depicted as black, till racism entered your dumb, stupid heads, and you started painting them white. Now you are racist to the core against blacks, and even against your own dark-skinned Indians. Yet you are the first to cry racism when whites do the same to you. Fcking idiots. |
Politics › Re: Okonjo Iweala Would Have Been President In 2023 If Nigeria Was America by Rosskivvy: 4:32am On Nov 08, 2020 |
Justcash: If Nigeria was the United States, Dr Okonjo Iweala would have been chosen by either the Democrats or Republicans, and she would have been the strongest contestant.
She ticks all of the boxes:
Experience: served severally as a major minister and understands the requirements of leadership
Professional: she has attained verifiable professional achievements at a global scale
Political Support: it is often said that it is the turn of Igbos to lead Nigeria in 2023. She is Igbo, and she can effectively represent the South East’s slot even though some pundits will debate against that
History: she will become the first woman to lead Nigeria. It will entrench gender equality and hope for Nigerian women
Diplomacy: her leadership will be respected and supported as shown in her recent WTO endorsement.
However, Nigerians are too divided across ethnic and religious lines to even consider her. It is a big loss for Nigeria. So the thuggish and ignorant racist, neo-nazi dullard, TRUMP was the best president for America for the last 4 years, since they had no 'Okonjo Iweala caliber' person in the whole country, and they always select the best person for the job, meaning Trump, correct? Mumu with slave mentality. Don't face your own side. Mr America. |

But nobody stops Messi from dribbling. They don't want Nigeria to have a Messi. Chukwueze should ignore them all and play his skilful game like Jay Jay did. That one, after a while managers stopped trying to change his game because he wasn't having it. |

thinkmoney: I agree very much with your point. I guess its impossible for any relatively advanced civilization not to have a type of sign or writing at any level of development for keeping and transmitting information. But then again, the nature of the writing materials available must have made them not to last long. Obviously there were difficulties in passing on knowledge and the thick forest cut of many civilizations from others. So in Africa knowledge also didn't spread well. Civilization many times rose and fell in isolation Very true. |

thinkmoney: Civilization rise and fall. In Africa as in many other places great civilization arose. But I suspect three factors that made this civilizations disappeared almost without trace-or four; Our building materials that comprises of mud that degenerates quickly. -our climate and temperature makes things weather and desinintegrate quickly. -the prevalent Forrest and Savannah that quickly encroached on buildings and overwhelm them.these forest even discourage building any lasting edifice to start with. -and wars and invasions-internally and from external elements like the Arabs and europeans. And importantly too, the knowledge of whatever past civilization perished because we didn't develop writing. I guess the lack of big mountains discouraged us from thinking about the future, like and permanency. In the present time too, the scant interest given to the study of archaeology has put the nail on the confine. This situation has fostered a sense of inferiority. A feeling that we are just incapable of doing great things. Flip the absence of many of the mentioned conditions around and see what Egypt, Sudan and even Mali with moderate climate have from their pasts Good points. But Benin officialdom and bureaucracy had writing. This was an empire that exchanged ambassadors with Portugal as early as the 1500s. The bureaucracy was divided into several departments, each handling this or that trading nation/region and other such segments of commerce and diplomacy. There would have been literate scribes and bureaucrats involved in such operations and keeping records of transactions and trade agreements in scrolls. Oba Esigie for instance, ruled in the early 1500s, and spoke and wrote Portuguese. I read there was a Bini-Portuguese 'pidgin' language that developed during that time, and which was used and spoken fluently by many officials in the bureaucracy. So there was some writing among the ruling classes, which, like in other parts of the world at the time, was not extended to the mass population. The Hausa states also had writing, with their ancient Ajami script. The Igbos and Efiks had Nsibidi writing. Yorubas had Aroko, the beautiful parabolic messaging system. It was the slave trade and colonialism that led to the destruction of the numerous records that would have been kept in various forms and formats. |

Honestly, there are things I've read in African history that just fly in the face of everything we think we know about our past. I've read accounts about an 11th century Arab merchant in the Ghana empire who wrote that he was paid BY CHEQUE by his African business partner in a transaction. Of course to write a cheque, there must be...BANKS to issue and clear them. |

I also read about a Queen of Ile Ife who constructed paved roads with potsherds centuries ago.
Apart from Western education and Christianity, much of the intervention of the Whites was for their personal and national interest. There are parts of Ile-Ife where you can still see the old street pavements. |

RemoveKebab: yes Africa already had enough so they had no reason to seek for resources by all means adding to that, geography also left west and southern Africa in the dark.
The vast desert of north Africa isolated them in time.
Early technology exchange couldn't happen as it was between Europe and Asia. I agree with this. According to the late, great Dr Chancellor Williams, in The Destruction of Black Civilization, the decline of African civilization began with the loss of the north African Mediterranean coast to Arab invaders in 70 AD, and before then, to increasing desertification of the once-fertile Sahara. |

The article said:
''In 1691, the Portuguese ship captain Lourenco Pinto observed: “Great Benin, where the king resides, is larger than Lisbon; all the streets run straight and as far as the eye can see. The houses are large, especially that of the king, which is richly decorated and has fine columns. The city is wealthy and industrious. It is so well governed that theft is unknown and the people live in such security that they have no doors to their houses.”
Such a contrast from today. If you never build fence with barbed wire and big gate, you never build house.
In fact they built their houses the way many European cities build theirs today. Just rows of houses facing the street direct with no gates or fences.. |

You have to wonder why the British felt the need to destroy this great city though, and burn it down to the ground.
They must have been really jealous of what they saw.
There were likely some really grand buildings and monuments that they just couldn't stomach, in their imperialist mindset. |

Zeromoney: This story breaks my heart. So the English man came; killed our ancestors, burnt our glorious Benin city to the ground and carted away artefacts and sculptures that identify us. Now if we want to know more about the ancient Benin kingdom all we have to do is travel to the UK and visit their museums. Is Nigeria not a failed country? A country that can't preserve its identity or teach her citizens their history shouldn't exist. There's nothing like a ''failed country''. Countries evolve over time. Every country began as a disorderly scrap of turf in the middle of nowhere. Was America a ''failed country'' 60 years ago when blacks were being lynched in the streets, and denied basic rights, or when they suffered in slavery centuries before that? Was the UK a ''failed country'' a century ago when people slept 10 to a room in London and child labour was the norm, while the aristocracy partied? Countries evolve and develop over time, and so will Nigeria. One day we will know all this and many other truths about our history. |
