Dshocker:Google it! Go on Google and type “1966 coup”. You will learn the actions of your kinsmen. |
baconline:Mr Perfect. I’m sure if they gave YOU a political appointment, you would never ever dream of enriching yourself. Go on, Say That, make God punish you here. Self-righteous, hypocritical loudmouths. |
enemybulldozer:Bro, there’s never been a time things were ‘good’ for everyone in Nigeria. Even in the 1980s people were complaining about inflation, NEPA, armed robbery, army brutality etc. Fela was popular for a reason. In many ways things have improved. Health care and sanitation have improved. Infant mortality rate has fallen steadily. GDP per capita has increased. Military boys have been pacified. Telecommunications are top notch today. In the 80s, phones were for the super rich. Daily Hustle: You would fight to get into a Molue (49 sitting 99 standing) and when you reach your destination, the person you went to see, they will tell you he has traveled. Back into the Molue. A whole day gone, cos you’re stuck in traffic to and fro. Today, you simply text the guy to see where he is, or simply call him, to talk business. You people are just enjoying today but you don’t know. |
ATIKU NEEDS TO STOP THIS. THIS IS BECOMING EMBARRASSING FOR A MAN OF HIS STATURE. IT'S HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THIS MAN WAS A FORMER VICE-PRESIDENT. |
CJStarz:They were under Igbo commanders. Igbo officers led the coup, and decided who would be assassinated. No Igbo leaders were touched. Just northerners and SW. |
Until Igbos send a HIGH LEVEL TRADITIONAL DELEGATION comprising their most powerful traditional elders and priests on an APOLOGY MISSION to those regions whose leaders they killed in that FIRST COUP OF 1966… As in GO THERE to meet their counterparts in those regions, with SACRED WINE, SACRIFICIAL COCKRELS, AND A VIRGIN OR TWO, TO CLEANSE THOSE LANDS OF THE EVIL COMMITTED BY THEIR KINSMEN in that coup, you can forget about Igbos gaining power in this country. You can speak ENGLISH from today till tomorrow. But we are Africans, and we have our own way of restoring balance. |
Horus:He never said that. That link doesn’t claim he said that. |
MadamExcellency:You no just get sense. There is every reason for Shettima to be there, as a pro-active deputy leader of Africa’s biggest economy. Do you know the number of deals he can make in that place? Even commitments he can reach with other players? I mean, the Ghanaian PRESIDENT was there. Serious nations don’t have time for this your egotistical outlook. They see a sniff of opportunity, and they leverage it. They think, “Oh right, Putin, Lula, Xi Jin Pin, Ramaphosa, Modri, plus big corporate players from their countries will be converging in our African backyard here. How do we leverage this?” While YOU are reasoning with your schoolboy mindset of “they didn’t invite you, so why did you go?” Little children talking rubbish. Anyway na free internet. Everyone has opinion. |
loosecanon50:ABEG SHUT UP, NARCISSIST. YOU ARE USELESS EVEN TO YOURSELVES. IF YOU ARE SUCH GREAT MAGICIANS, WHY HAVE 30 MILLION OF YOU FLED THE EAST TO LIVE IN THE NORTH AND WEST? AND YOUR REGION HAS BEEN LEFT TO FARMERS AND TERRORISTS? USELESS, DEPENDENT SET OF PEOPLE FEELING FUNKY. WITHOUT THE REST OF NIGERIA HOUSING YOU, YOU WOULD STARVE IN YOUR MILLIONS. |
Everything na big deal to una. Jobless people. |
Hussein035:Very well said. Burna Boy is stupid and senseless. He doesn’t realise he is kicking himself in the foot by condemning the very genre the world recognises him by. Just stupid, thoughtless and dumb. It’s like Snoop Dogg or 50 cent saying rap music is ‘nothing’. Or Chris Rock saying RnB is ‘nothing’. They would NEVER do that. What kind of stupid idiot and moro.n is this? Because you make big money you now turn stupid? |
Basic123:Impossible. Burna Boy hasn’t got the power to do that. The clubs and radios across the world are at this minute INCREASING their playing of Afrobeats, not decreasing it. Burna boy’s comments are totally irrelevant. He is just a small boy talking rubbish about Nigeria like he always does. |
paramakina202:Illiterate school dropout and spare parts dealer. I'm sure in your village head, Ethiopia that is reliant on western food aid, with less than half of Nigeria's GDP per capita, and enmeshed in CIVIL WAR, is more qualified by your criteria of 'developing economy' to be in BRICS than Nigeria. Village otondo with free internet. |
kabillionaire:Such mishaps are natural when you are venturing into the space as a developing space power. That’s how you learn. Do you know how many Indian missions have failed prior to this success they achieved? |
enemybulldozer:Not true. This nostalgia we always have about the past must end. In the past, we had bloody military coups, leaders assassinated, and civil wars that cost millions of lives. Back in the past Lagosians we’re fighting to jump on MOLUE. Back in the past there was no phone, except for the super rich. Back in the past, cities like Uyo, Awka, Asaba, and Abuja were mere villages. Go to some of those places today and you will think you’re in London. We have progressed. |
enemybulldozer:Achievements start by dreaming about them. |
gidgiddy:Dude forget this your IPOB nonsense and talk betta thing. |
misreal:Lack of funding. The space agency currently uses half its govt allocation to pay salaries. If they are funded properly, they can do it. We just lack the will, for now. |
misreal:What does this even mean? Are you not a Nigerian? Does being a Nigerian mean you are a useless person that can’t do anything? |
We also underestimate the PR benefits of such an achievement in terms of positioning of the country in the comity of nations. Such an achievement tells investors that this is a country that is technologically savvy, and worth investing in, and partnering with, in further technological ventures. It will also be a massive RACIAL statement on the technological capacity and progress of the black race in the modern era. We must do it. |
tommy589:African writing systems are numerous, and include the Hieroglyphs of Kemet, the Nubian Script, also known as the Meroitic Script, Nsibidi Script, Ajami Script, Ethiopic Script, and many others. They did not experience 500 years of Atlantic slave trade. The Europeans actually started by enslaving Indians. They proved unprofitable as they lacked the mental resilience and physical strength required. Then they switched to Africans. But that history should not prevent us from progress. Where is Nigeria Map 200 years agoAll irrelevant. India’s space program started decades ago when mass poverty was rife. Stop using that as an excuse. That moon landing cost them 74 million dollars. Is that not chicken change for one politician to pocket and clean mouth? |
tommy589:It is an INSULT to elevate Indian history and civilisation over that of Africa, the Cradle of Civilisation. Black Africans invented speech, writing, mathematics, the sciences, arts, medicine, laws, architecture, philosophy, and religion. Black Africans founded the FIRST empires and kingdoms in India, and ruled for thousands of years before eventually succumbing to Aryan invasions from the north. It is why southern Indians are brown/black and northern Indians light skinned. That the colonialists destroyed and burned down our great cities and monuments doesn’t mean we lacked “magnificent temples”. We are the HOME of magnificent structures. There are over 220 pyramids in Sudan. More than the number in Egypt. Egypt itself was Black African in antiquity, and was the ‘USA’ of the world for thousands of years. |
SmartPolician:Nigeria’s GDP is 1.15 TRILLION DOLLARS calculated by Purchasing Power Parity (PPP). It is proportionally higher than India’s, considering they have a 1.4 billion population, more than all Africa (1.2 billion). So money is not the issue. And India has not “fixed basic infrastructure”. Go on Google Earth and view their cities. They just look like Naija. Truth is it will take DECADES to “fix basic infrastructure” in Nigeria, even if we are ruled by saints. 220 million population is no joke. A LOT still needs to be built. We cannot be waiting to complete the task of development while the world leaves us behind in TECHNOLOGY. India understood this. So should we. |
SmartPolician:Absolute nonsense. If India had waited to fix all their roads and power supply issues, they would not have achieved the moon landing. Development is not linear. You must simultaneously build your infrastructure and your technological capacity. It is VILLAGE MENTALITY that says “let us fix A and B before we can do C.” |
Naijanascam:Why not? All they need to do is fund the space agency and give them a deadline to launch. If we get a president who wants to do it, we’ll do it. |
misreal:What makes you think it can’t be done? India has the same developmental issues as Nigeria. They have bad roads and power cuts in India. Plus corruption. But they still have that passion for technology. That moon landing cost them just 74 million dollars. It was done on the cheap, compared to the multi billion dollar US missions. We don’t have to break the bank for this! |
We Want A NIGERIAN On The MOON By 2040, Latest https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Cj0SuWhVAAEPWP6.jpg India got independence in 1947, so they are a bit ahead of us in terms of technology, hence their recent moon landing. But we are catching up. Most importantly, we have the manpower to pull this off. We have capable Nigerian scientists at the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Abuja, and also numerous Nigerian scientists working at various space agencies all over the world, including NASA. Nigerian scientists have built satellites which have been launched into space, and are currently hovering the Earth in outer space. Fully designed and built by Nigerians. ''NASRDA has, over the years, shown a pivotal role in its deployment of expertise in the design, building and launch of Nigerian satellites. These include NigeriaSat -1, NigeriaSat–2, NigComSat-1R and most importantly, the NigeriaSat-X, which was designed and built to flight standard by Nigerian engineers and scientists.'' - https://guardian.ng/news/24yrs-after-nigerias-space-programme-loses-traction-despite-yearly-allocations/ So Nigeria is a notable player in the Space Industry. Certainly right up there among the African nations. We must take the next leap, and PUT A NIGERIAN ON THE MOON. Space Launch. imoowo:I guarantee you that 90% of you on Nairaland cannot survive 1 week in Niger Republic. In fact by the end of your FIRST NIGHT, you will be CRYING to be returned to Nigeria. |
