The way Ivory Coast is going to bend their neck like fowl ehnn

See chances osimhen lose, same as lookman and other players

But if na their respective clubs they will be scoring goal of the week

Guinness Bissau solidly dominated super eagles this evening, very pathetic and disgraceful outing

A grade A striker is someone who is able to sustain his form for lots and lots of seasons. Why do you think Messi and Ronaldo were always winning titles every season. It's because they sustained their form every season.

Sadly the only African player I can call a grade "A" striker is Drogba. Cos he's the only African player who maintained his form all through his career.

An average player is someone who's form isn't consistent. He can pick form this season and loose form the following season.

The Oshimen you're shouting didn't join Napoli last season. He joined them from Lille in 2020, and had a spell for 2 seasons before making his mark last season.

Question is how many goals has he scored this season for Napoli, and what has been his performance for Nigeria this season? If you're honest, you'll agree with me that he's just an average player.
You are talking ignorant rubbish.

Osimhen is not African Footballer of the Year for nothing.

You can never judge a player by a single bad season, not to mention a single bad game.

Just shut up.

Thank you very much.

To be fair, we were a bit unlucky in that game, cos of easy chances to score that we missed.

The team didn’t play particularly badly.

I’m also uncomfortable with the over-reliance on Osimhen. If he doesn’t turn up on the day, what happens?

Osimhen- missed 2 good chances
Alex iwobi- that guy does not deserve the role of a midfielder...

Best Nigerian Player on the field- Alhassan Yusuf. Na only this guy put body for this game.
Northerners always play with passion for Nigeria. If Ahmed Musa had entered that pitch, another goal would have been scored.

Musa plays like a tiger in that green jersey.

We should groom more northerners to play at the top flight. They always give their all, unlike these useless idiots from the south that only care about money and fcking ashewo and other nonsense.

I’m sure by now they are already connecting women in Abidjan that they will be fcking, instead of strategizing for the next game. Useless things.

Keep quiet. I saw both play too. Odegbami can't even lace the boots of obafemi Martins. And you're here talking. Martins at a point once one of the most dangerous strikers in the world. Martins played in an era where we we spoiled for choices of strikers. An era where you could mention a thousand and one strikers and all of them were damn good. Yet Martins excelled and made a name for himself. You are here mentioning odegbami that did nothing more than shining in a forsaken nations cup
You NEVER saw Segun Odegbami play.

So he was better than players like Rummenigge, Paulo rossi, Maradona, socretes, zico etc? You are a clown
Use ur damn head.

The only reason you know those players is because they played in the World Cup. In those days Africa had just 2 places, and the Green Eagles narrowly missed the 1978 World Cup where the world would have seen the beautiful skills of Odegbami, Adokiye, Christian Chukwu, Muda Lawal and goalkeeper Emmanuel Okala, Nigeria's best keeper till date perhaps after Enyeama..

That they were unlucky and missed out DOES NOT MEAN THAT PLAYERS who made it there were all better than them.

1st you are very uncouth and abusive.

2nd you don't know football. You only have a bias and like for things of old

Where I admitted you was a clown was when you said Amaesimaka was the best number 11 in the world during his time.
WHY, BECAUSE HE IS A NIGERIAN?

I have no time for low lifes who ooze inferiority complex.

Majority of you are conditioned to feel inferior.

Did you actually watch Adokiye play?

I bet you never did. Just like the other guy.

But you just know he could not have been the best. WHY?

Name the top 5 No 11s in world football in 1980.

Can you?

Was Finidi not ranked the best No 7 in world football in the mid 90s?

Do you know Adokiye was a better winger than Finidi?

Better and more skilful?

You need to be hanged. Na small pikin dey worry you.

KingAzubuike:
Simple argument you're already bringing insult. Did I call you crazy?

You're just been nostalgic here. Same reason people will keep arguing that Maradona was better than messi. Its just nostalgia, a taste for things of old. You even had to use just one football match to cement your claim. Let's be honest, odegbami was no where near yakubu. He was no where near obafemi Martins. These two guys made a name in Europe and on national level. After yak and obagoal, yekini comes next.
Your problem is you are kid who thinks football started when you began watching football.

See the mumu comparing Odegbami to Martins.

A guy who thinks an African must ''make his name in Europe'' to be considered great, even though Nigerian players had zero need to go to Europe in the days of Mathematical Segun Odegbami, when Naira was worth more than the dollar.

Clubs in Europe and even Palmeiras of Brazil wanted Odegbami after the 1980 Cup of Nations we won, and he said NO, because there was NO REASON to leave Nigeria. The Eagles had been showered with money, houses, cars, everything, and were celebrated across the nation. Odegbami came 3rd in APOY rankings 1978. ZERO reason to play abroad. All the Eagles played in Nigerian clubs, and happily so.

You grew up in an era when economic decline led to players flocking Europe.

That's why you now equate a good player with one who has ''made his name in Europe''.

I don't blame you.

Indomie generation!

Don't go and ask your elders about stuff you don't know!

Ask them about Adokiye Amaesimaka. Master dribbler on the left.

In his hey day, this guy was probably the most skilful No 11 in world football.

Our best midfielder after Jay Jay Okocha was Midfield maestro, Muda Lawal, who played with Odegbami.

He never played for a European club. He played for IICC and was a top class midfield general of the first order.

In those days clubs like IICC and Rangers played visiting Brazilian clubs etc, and gave them a good game.

IICC held Fluminense to a 1-1 draw in Liberty Stadium, Ibadan, with Muda Lawal and Odegbami playing.

Tough ass game.

Small pikin.

In the last AFCON, Nigeria beat Egypt on our first match in Cameroon, what happened at the end. Egypt played in the final against Senegai. Nigeria crashed out in the second round against Tunisia. Even if we loose first match, that is not the end of the road.
The idea that we're even contemplating losing to Equatorial Guinea says a lot about this team's standing in peoples' estimate.

Pretty sad.

Hope they come good at AFCON.

When the poster you responded to says the forum is a disgrace he means the general sick culture of Nigerians today where a substantial number are happy to postulate all and everything is hopeless and that our country will never work or move forward.

It is same on twitter and other forums because the common theme is pimordial and irrational hatred for nation, leaders, the wealthy, those of other ethnicity and religion and generally all who are doing good or have an optimistic outlook.

You allowed nostalgia to cloud your judgement. Segun odegbami ko. He doesn't come close to at least 5 of those strikers listed up there.
You must be crazy.

I blame NTA for not having old Eagles matches to show us.

Segun Odegbami was more than deadly. A striker who could dribble 8 players in a row and still tear the net.

NONE of the strikers we’ve had has been remotely as talented as Mathematical Segun Odegbami.

Yekini scored more goals because he was a centre forward.

Mathematical was an attacking winger on the right.

He was Samuel Chukwueze 2.0

I vividly remember a game we played against Tunisia when Odegbami had the ball on the right, near the touch line. In front of him was a Tunisian defender. As they stood facing each other, a Tunisian player was running fast from behind Odegbami to tackle him from the back. As he approached in speed, Odegbami stuck out his left foot, and the guy continued running, and running! They had to call him back to say “no…he’s still standing there!”

The commentator said “And this is why we call him Mathematical Odegbami”.

He was like a Kanu with speed and energy.

These musicians add more value to Nigeria than all our politicians put together.
Without “our politicians” insisting in 1999 that 80% of music on the radio must be Nigerian music, which led to the rise of Kennis Music and others who sought out local talent, there would be NO Afrobeats today. No Burna, No Davido. No Wizzy. No Asake. No Rema. No Tiwa. No Timaya. No 2Baba. No P Square.

You have President Obasanjo to thank for what you are seeing today.

Back when the FG announced the new directive to radio stations, they were denounced by Nigerians long hooked on R&B and HipHop, as dictatorial.

Some were shouting “What if other countries ban our music?”

Because Nigerians are thoughtless and myopic.

See the results of that FG policy today.
