So you plant on a land that's not your own?
Say you plant had an plot

What exactly can you plant on a half plot that would even affect your food cost by 5% per year
A LOT!!!!!

If you know what you're doing. You don't need a lot of space to start a tomato farm, and you can make good money selling fresh tomatoes.

I see a lot of wasted land here that can easily be cultivated.

Anyone who lives in a city and have space to farm is not poor and Food is not their problem.
It's a LIE.

There are millions of people being affected by high food prices, including those living in houses with space outside to farm! Many families are not eating the way they used to eat before, and there is more rationing!

Plus there are MANY areas where you see poor people living in tenement buildings with compounds outside, or in a shared courtyard, or backyard, that can be converted to farmland.

You sound like some kid that hasn't been around.

Having space to farm doesn't mean you must live in a duplex with a gate and large compound etc.

Even where I used to live in Benin, there are so many places you see were folks can put a small farm in front of their compound and ring fence it, but it's just red soil or covered with weeds, or they cement the place. Like this place below. That small place they cemented to the left can be a small farm.

You want to tell me the people living here have no problem with rising food prices?

Good think and idea. It is a must now. I remember my house garden back then. Pepper, Okwa, Garden egg were never in short supply.
And you know the good thing about it?

The food you produce in your yard is the FRESHEST and most NUTRITIOUS food possible.

Because it is coming straight from the land to your table.

And you will TASTE THE DIFFERENCE immediately compared to the ones you buy in the market that have travelled thousands of kilometres from Niger Republic, Maiduguri, Sokoto, and all these distant places, over several weeks or even months in lorries!

If you use FRESH tomatoes from your own farm in the backyard to cook stew, my brother, you will taste the difference from all those rotten tomato you buy in the market that was harvested months ago!

Same thing with onions and vegetables!

I personally cannot live anywhere I don’t have fruit tree and even garden. That is how I grew up. There was nothing like buying fruit in our house, the children just climb the tree and eat up there, bring whatever they can pluck inside the house. Vegetable yapa.

Just buy salt and plenty dry fish and store. The rest is possible and easy. Potato is the easiest to plant and can grow anywhere. It even starts growing if you leave it alone.
Thank you.

Market was where our ancestors used to go to buy some extra stuff that they did not grow in their compound or farm.

It wasn't a place that they depended on for their food, whereby if prices went up, they would suffer.

Never.

But today we depend on market for ALL our food, which is ridiculous.

It's not meant to be like that!

Thank you my brother.

We need to become Africans again.

We've lost touch with who we are. That is why we are in this situation.

We have NO REASON to be going hungry when there is no famine.

PoliticsThe Easiest Way To End Hunger - Turn Your Compound To A Farm! by Rostikol(op):
The Easiest Way To End Hunger Is To Turn Your Compound To A Farm!

You walk around these neighbourhoods where people are complaining of hunger, and you see in their front compounds and in their backyards, LAND JUST LYING FALLOW. undecided

Why?

Convert that land to a MINI-FARM.

Plant tomatoes. Plant yam. Plant fruit seeds. Plant melon seeds. That's Egusi. Plant okro!

Start a small poultry in your backyard for your chicken and eggs.

What the hell is wrong with us as a people?

It is all this ''I must be oyinbo by force'' that is hurting us.

Before colonial rule and this our oyinbo system that followed, our ancestors never depended on the kings and chiefs for their food.

They planted their food everywhere they saw land.

Their houses would have an area to plant food somewhere. Houses would have yam barns to store yams in the backyard.

The only time you hear in our history that people were hungry was when there was a FAMINE, ie no rain.

There was nothing like abundant rain and fertile land, yet people going hungry. Impossible!

Today you walk around these neighbourhoods and just wonder, ''why can't these guys plant onions or cassava in this place''?

Urban farming is as African as Proverbs and Palmwine.

It even beautifies the environment!

If even one-fifth of us decided to convert our premises to mini farms, food will be become abundant in the country and very cheap!

It doesn't mean it was written in the bible.

This is a laudable project. Nigeria is due for a coastal road spanning the coastal cities in the country. Imagine driving through the road with a beautiful view of the ocean.
Oh, it will be fantastic.

They should also make sure they have dedicated rest spots where there will be eateries, petrol, hotels etc every 20 kilometres or so, which will be right against the ocean, making for a spectacular experience for travellers.

Sri Lanka has stopped issuing visas to Russians and Ukrainians fleeing their war in Europe, and has given the nearly 250,000 Russian and Ukrainian refugees already in the country 2 WEEKS to leave Sri Lanka and return to their countries.

This development occurred after a social media storm in which Sri Lankan citizens exposed what was happening, whereby the Russians and Ukrainians, most of whom were allowed to settle in southern Sri Lanka, were establishing restaurants, bars, hotels, etc, with a ‘WHITES ONLY’ policy, and barring local Sri Lankans from entering.

So the whites have been asked to pack their bags and baggages and get out of the country, within a minimum 2 weeks, and return home to their wartorn region in Europe.

See link below for further news on the development.

Meron Benti, an Ethiopian albino: «I know people stare at me. In Africa they called me a foreigner. In Italy I was the “negro girl”

Meron Benti is An Ethiopian albino born to regular black Ethiopians.

As you can see, she looks EXACTLY like a white person from Sweden or Norway.

This is proof that the people we call 'WHITES' today are simply descendants of ancient African albinos.

In ancient times, it appears there was a breakout of ALBINISM among certain African populations around the Horn of Africa.

Remember that there are original black Africans with straight hair like the Ethiopians and Somalis etc.

That is their natural state with NO admixture.

When they produce albinos, they look exactly like the people we call ''white people'' today.

The ancient Africans were shocked by the strange appearance of these albino babies, and attributed it to some kind of disease.

They banished the albino populations to places were they eventually formed their own communities, interbreeding with themselves, and eventually becoming ''the white race''.

They left Africa in droves for more temperate climates in Europe where the sun was less harsh, to protect their albinoid skin from infection and diseases caused by sunlight.

The reason for white racism today could be partly due to their subconscious recollection of being driven out of black communities in the ancient past and left to fend for themselves in isolated communities...
