mavinc4u:Yes dear. |
I want to apply for a master program in Cybersecurity or network related IT program. But I need a scholarship or any form of grant. I have written to Grenoble, but their response didn't include how I can secure a scholarship. My experienced gurus should help out please. Cc ogatboy |
Sandramuna:So bad. I will just check what I can do. |
amysavage:I can't stop agreeing with you. You nailed it but I met a guy(Teacher) here who has bought a car and got married under two years. |
Shakitibob0:Coincidentally, I am into this business. Still expecting my first order this week. I can't really answer your question now because this language barrier is treating me too bad. I am still thinking of how I will make sales but there is God sha. But honestly, most products that people make use of here are imported. I wish to get an English conne, and this storm will be over. I searched all I could in the market today for English - French book but couldn't see. All I was seeing were French - English. Whoever knows where I can get a good book that teaches French very well should help me. |
amysavage:He meant 2500 - 3500 per day. But this can't even pay one's rent here. |
@Rolly83, I withdrew at N1:1.57F with my First Bank ATM. If there is any place around you where you can check, please do because it may be higher. @good4all40, personally I won't support whatsapp group. I really learnt a lot from this tread. A whatsapp group will just give the tread a natural death which won't be good for future travelers. Whoever has any question should spill it here and people will respond according to their views. @all, if you plan to come here, please start learning French from home. Just look for anyone to teach you basic French, it will help you in a great measure. Come prepared too(I mean with both cash and mind). Someone should please help me with cheap data plan, I buy 500mb for 3kF. Too bad |
Sandramuna:The Email address is not correct but I sent you pm |
JWTheocracy1:Yes, check your mail |
JWTheocracy1:Yes he is. Check his profile |
JWTheocracy1:If you don't already have an account here, it will be very difficult. I had an account with Diamond Bank back home, I called to tell them about my coming even met their customer care one on one. Behold, I arrived here and their ATM is not even working with their bank. I opened an account with them here but they told me that I should get authorization back home for a transfer. I called home but was told my presence is needed for the authorization. What you will do is this, come with a Nigerian master card and be withdrawing your money from SGBCI Bank here. I will recommend you withdraw from their headquarter in Plateau. It dispenses up to 200kF. First Bank charges me 420 for each withdrawal. To open an account here, one of us here (Abel) works with GT bank. He is a nice guy too, I was with him yesterday. And their ATM is cheap too (11kF). Diamond told me 20KF |
JWTheocracy1:My brother, due to my union and love for women, I am working towards beauty products. Ranging from what they wear/apply from head to toe. |
cutieme:Wow! What a nice business idea you have. It sells like there is no tomorrow. The only challenge will be enough space. But don't worry, your money will get you that. This is how it may go ; tea, bread and indomie in the morning, or spaghetti included and drinks in the evening. They love drinks a lot. With these, you will be busy all the time. |
cutieme:I am still trying to settle here oooooh! No settlement until cash starts rolling in. Abidjan is OK but very expensive though, maybe because I haven't started making money here. Honestly, I would prefer specific questions, that way, it will be easier for me to provide answers. For business, from my personal observations, every business thrives here. I can't specifically tell which one sells more than the other. There are great businesses all over. What matters is your capital. Yes, business here requires capital. For withdrawals here, I recommend SGBCI bank. First Bank charges me 420 Naira for each withdrawal. |
MamaTej:Why are you leaving Mama, what happened/is happening? Is it because of the language or you don't like the environment? You should have spoken up earlier. If you wouldn't mind, do contact me if you will extend your stay. Life isn't like that. I can really relate because I nearly got frustrated but someone I met here kept giving me hopes and I am loving this place already. The major problem from my experience is the language barrier because these people are very friendly and accommodating. Any other person coming should please ask your questions in details and appropriate answers will be provided. |
@JWTheocracy1, Nwanne Mmadu, I will be highly honored to welcome you. Mee Kam Mara mgbe ibatara. Nno ije in advance |
@Chimaxan, thanks for your concern. Getting someone to share with me now will be very difficult besides, I haven't shared a room before even with my brothers at home. Sharing a flat (2bed room) will be better. I have parked in now, just trying to settle and learn the language. Getting out of my dumb mood soon. Lol |
cutieme:I got one at Grand Bassam at 40k cefa per month. 2 months advance, 4 months caution. I finally parked into a single room without toilet and bathroom at 25k cefas per month. 2 months advance, 5 months caution and 1 month agent fee. Adjame? Drop what you read online until you experience it yourself. |
cutieme:Any business can move here provided you are financially loaded. I was talking about 50k cefas not Naira. |
corkpikin:I never took this serious owing to what other Nairalanders had written about Abidjan until now. I always made reference to the infos here when I was searching for a house and at a point, the people helping me got annoyed and threatened to leave me. I Never came across any self contain at 25k or 30k even in the crowded village of Grand Bassam |

My advice to whoever wants to come here. Please prepare very well. Both financially and mentally. Things are really expensive, especially house and data. Data and calls are free in Nigeria compared to my experience here. If you really have much, think of investing in internet service providing. Many things about this country were overhyped. Nigeria is in a million times better than this country but they are very organized and everything is working. God really blessed us but punished us with bad leaders. Only Dangote can buy this country but come and see how everything is working. I nearly cried. For those who may still have questions, drop them but I may go on break from now as I don't have much to spend on data again. Thanks |
cutieme:"whatever I write here is a personal experience" I paid 27k at the young shall grow;had my passport only and paid 9k cefas for Yellow fever at Ghana border. The living standard here is OK but apartment. You can't imagine the houses where people live here. The only advantage is that it has light, water and very organized. Their Economy is OK. I have observed no difference in weather here. Currency is cefa. They make use of coins here. There was light everywhere I had visited, Sontra buses at 200 cefas to anywhere. There are other buses and taxi too which is costly. Houses are very expensive here. Very expensive and the least I have seen, you must pay from 6 months up. Two months rent, 4 months caution. If you are thinking of coming, budget from 50k/month for a studio. Though, you may get a cheaper one. Comparing their women to Naija is like comparing Abuja and Aba. Their women are amazing and too cheap but I must advise ; if you have a long term plan, delete their women from your mind. Many Nigerians here married them. They are very nice, but too sexually immoral. They show porn on cable TV here, so just imagine the effects. |
skylane:"Everything I write here is my personal experience" The only cheap things I have seen here are ; women and food. Water is costly. The bottle water I buy in Nigeria 100-150 is 500cefa here. One egg is 100cefa. A man I met here as I type tells me that opportunities are everywhere here but I am yet to find them. He is a Nigerian too. Though, I am trying to be very careful with Nigerians here. Two boys (G Boys) had earlier met me in my previous hotel advertising their business. That contributed to my relocation as the last thing I will do is crime. Maybe when I get an apartment, I will blend in |
skylane:I have my reservations on why I haven't contacted her. She works at Cocody and lives really big but women are last in my list here. I have seen and heard much about them here. I came with a plan and haven't even gotten an apartment. One needs to settle first. My first objective was for her to help me find accommodation but she pays 80k cefas where she lives which is against my budget. My mission is to stay here but things are damn expensive here. I mean very expensive |
chimaxan:I would wish you ask me everything here but If you insist, send me a pm |
skylane:Yeah, I really wish to contact her but the stories I have been hearing and my personal observations about their girls is scaring me. I wouldn't want to loose focus (have many things to achieve first. Not a Saint oooooh!) But honestly, these people live a weird life. I don't advise any man to raise a family here. I went out yesterday to buy Banana, unfortunately the seller couldn't understand me so she called a girl to interpret for her. At the course of the interpretation, I found out that the girl is a Nigerian. Do you know what she does? Prostitution. A teenage girl of about 16-18 years. Ivorians generally seem to be nice and friendly. Please feel free to ask me your questions here. It was by others' questions that I learnt what took me to this country. Feel free to ask, I don't think anything should be hidden as they even show porns on their cable TV here. Lol |
Ugosample:I moved to Gonzaque today. A Nigerian guy I met in the bus and his pastor are trying to secure a place for me. I was able to get a hotel there too for 7k cefa. And by his grace, I may park into my own apartment tomorrow. |
skylane:Their girls too like Nigerian guys. I have not really observed much about their mentality towards Nigerians but from my little experience, they are very nice and friendly. I met a very charming Ivorian girl at The Young Shall grow park. Didn't know how to approach her ( because of how our girls in Nigeria treat guys) but fortunately, her seat was beside mine. She greeted immediately she entered and our conversation started till we got to Abidjan. Though language barrier was a great problem but Google translator helped. I collected her number but yet to call her. I haven't known how to make money here as I am still trying to settle and break the language barrier but there are great businesses almost everywhere. House rent is very costly from my little experience. I was told 50k cefa at Marcory and required to pay for 4months. A local hotel I slept in charged 12k cefas. |
skylane:I will prefer you ask me questions on what you want to know about this place and I will try my best to answer based on my little experience. I am currently at the beach at Gonzague catching a little fun |
skylane:life here is very cool but everything is expensive except their women and food. Only God can save a single guy in his country. The language barrier is real but I have been trying to settle. |
Just landed in Abidjan today. Trying to settle but this language barrier is a real Bleep up. Chijoke Mbanefo (High life musician from Anambra state) is performing this night but how to find my way there is a complex problem. We came together with his music group through the young shall grow but my dumb and deaf nature has restricted my stay to my room alone. |
Everything expensive..except u want to eat too much pineapples..even pineapple sef dey expensive..(trying to do pineapple business with some students but border wahala..i think French speaking countries are extremely expensive for now ..just stock your kitchen with foodstuff and enjoy the breeze close to the beach.
