Enough of all these certificate issues. With the current situation, certificates should be kept aside. Any certificate that can't pay one's bills is useless

Greetings Ugosample.. Hope you are having a splendid week so far ? please i am on a #50,000 per month budget for accommodation for when I relocate to Abidjan , i will like to know the areas in Abidjan that i will be able to rent a self contain(single room ,bathroom and kitchen ) apt with my budget of 50k naira per month ..

Thanks in anticipation for your reply cheers ..
With 50k Naira per month, you can get houses within Marcory, Koumassi, Yopougon Port Bouet, Some parts of Cocody Etc. I will advise you choose between Yopougon and Koumassi as life is Cheaper there (Though most parts of Koumassi are very dirty and smells but the current mayor is putting everything in order now) Starting with Koumassi Ramblais won't be bad as a lot Nigerians are there

Will 200k will be enough to start up something in Ivory coast?

I don't know how to speak French
That 200k can't secure you an apartment in Ivory coast. Unless you have outside Abidjan in mind(which I personally don't have much info on). Benin is cheaper

I wish the mod can help out do something about this too as many Nigerians have been stranded here as a result of this scam. I got indirectly involved with them. I had someone who was doing nothing here. So one day, a girl I met in December called me to come over for a job. I told her that I can't leave my business for any job no matter the pay but I can send someone. So I decided to send the boy with neither job nor business. The girl collided with one Igbo boy as I don't really understand good French. My friend arrived there but they couldn't open up to him exactly what the job entails but was told to pay 500k. He told me about that and I asked him to return. But both the boy and the girl continued calling. So I told them to help get him employed and he will pay from his salary. They disagreed initially but later accepted. I gave him transport fare to go only for him to call at night telling me that it was a scam. I called the Igbo boy and immediately scolded him for such misconduct. Later I discovered also that the girl was scammed and stranded at the place too. The said girl was a medical student at the Université de Cocody. My guy told me about many Nigerians too stranded at the place and most of them were brought from Nigeria. Please friends, be weary of most Nigerians abroad as most of them are stranded and only resort to scams

Hustler410:
Please nairalanders I seek your input on this matter.
A relation of mine, hustled via his business in 9ja here. Later got contact in Ivory coast so he travelled to Ivory coast.
1 month later he contacted me that he is now working for a company there and things are easy their. He said he would want me to join him since I am still struggling in 9ja.
He said he paid 500k for training & certification to the company. That the company will give u one month training b4 u resume work. That the company pays $1000 dollars to workers as the company is owned by Whites from France . According to him the company makes jewel rings & other things.
Please I want to know if anybody has an idea of these. If also bro is telling me the whole truth.
Cus I don't want to chase 360k and lose 550+
Run as fast as your legs can take you. I believe he told you that the company is located at gagnoa too. This is one of the reasons I hate most Nigerians. Why must we keep scamming our brothers/sisters? About 80 boys were brought last time. They paid 400k each only to arrive here and be told that the company had closed. They were stranded. Just last time I traveled, I met a girl who asked for my phone to make a call. I asked her and she was talking about job and agent. I couldn't tell her that she had come to sign a full-time prostitution contract. Most Nigerians really suck. Wish I can change my citizenship

BusinessRe: Facebook Advert, The Best And Right Way by roughdiamond(m): 12:45pm On Jun 19, 2019
Which product do you sell? Consider these ; the class of people, age, location, earning power etc of your clients. That will help you determine your target audience. Map out payment and shipping strategies early even before placing the adverts. Let your integrity be top notch. Always state exact conditions of your products. If possible, do payment on delivery (people are always afraid of loosing their money). I suggest you run a customer oriented adverts (that's having customers interest at heart). Create a Facebook fan page, display your products and boost. Remember to have eye catching headlines.

And how the lecturers there retaliated by making sure he Smart graduated with just pass. Smart Nonso was a reference point to what a student leader should be

But okanaube wait o...

I'm still trying to find out why smart is loved so much. Many people who voted PDP for presidency and YPP (Ifeanyi's uba) for senate vote Smart of APGA.
Commoners in Nnewi donated money, vehicles, just to ensure smart campaigns, win and go to Awka.

Tell me more about that guy.
The reason is very simple. Smart was born with leadership qualities. I had not gained an admission when he was the SUG president but after hearing his story, I so much loved him. I had an opportunity of hearing him speak during our Youth program in the church (school), I loved him the more. Had chatted with him several times on Facebook too. Smart is just simply good. Smart was the only politician I supported during this election though not from the same state. Smart is just too good.

Note...I don't need your food or cash..it's just lonely out here with all these French people..I need to speak pidgin again sad
If you feel bored, I suggest you join your village or state meeting. There, you will connect with a lot of people. There is one primary school close to St Charles lwanga Catholic church Adjame. Visit there on Sunday, as it serves as venue for all Igbo meetings. If you are Yoruba, enter most small scale building material shops. Na Yorubas mostly get am. If you are an Hausa, talk to Suya sellers. If you are a Catholic, go to same Charles lwanga on Sunday by 8am. If a Muslim, you will meet many Yorubas in the mosque.

Rent and starting a new life
If you have someone here to accommodate you, yes you may survive with that. If you don't have anyone, please stay back. 400k may just only pay for your accommodation.

I am currently not sure of the date I intend to leave. But I want to ask some questions in advance, largely bothering around housing and cost of living.

****Cash Handling

Where will I change cash from naira to XOF?
How much is safe for me to carry in cash?
Can I use my ATM card in any bank along the border and in Abidjan?

Housing and hotel

How much should I budget for a low cost hotel?
I intend to rent a furnished one-room apartment. How much should I budget?
Is it possible to get someone to host me (Flat share) or squatting pending the time I get a bigger apartment?

Jobs

I have a Freelance business that pays me about $100 (N30,000) weekly. I hope this income will be good enough to survive?

My entire travel budget is N150,000 and N50,000 is for transport, that's N200,000 in total. This leaves me with N150,000 naira to settle down. With this 150k (Initial cash) and my weekly 30k, is it advisable to embark on this adventure?

P.s, I am a writer and I need a very calm environment to work from

Please advise me
Cash handling, You will change your money at the border (Benin Border) Amount of money to change depends on your mission. If you are coming for vacation, change all your budget but if for a long term plan, change within the range that can sort your accommodation and other little stuffs. On accommodation; I don't have much experience/information about long term stays. I come across adverts 20k,25k etc but I believe it's subject to negotiation. Forget about flat sharing or squatting with anyone. Nigerians are always afraid of their fellow Nigerians due to bad records in the past.
Jobs: You may get a job here but I will advise you remove getting a job from your plan. 30k weekly is about 120k monthly. You can survive with that though small. To survive with that, you need to adjust from Naija lifestyle. (Life is free in Naija and people live in affluence)

I think your budget is very small. 150k, I don't think can get you a decent accommodation. You can manage sha but it is advisable to come prepared. Moving to a county where you have no brother, sister, friend or even enemy and don't understand their language is not a child's play. Please plan plan, plan

ok so hopefully someone may help me here, I wanna ship a car to Ivory coast from the USA but dont know how much or the procedures for customs clearrance in ivory coast.
please don't try it. Cost of clearance no be here. I could remember sometime in 2017 that I wanted to bring in some goods from China. I searched for a logistic company to handle it and luckily found Elohim shipping company. Owned by an Igbo man. I explained everything to him and the man simply told me "my brother, please save your money" Another experience was when an active member here and I brought some goods from Nigeria through flight. We saw hell. But if you insist, meet a logistic company and get all the costs known first. I know of a man who registered his wife's car with 2.5million Cfa

Yes, you can. It will be a great business idea, though our people are not into the business. It is mostly controlled by the Malians and Yorubas. But it will be very lucrative. When you get ready, do let me know, I will explain in details how to go about it. At your spare time, visit Breadfruit market Balogun for sourcing inquiries.

Good day nairalanders.I currently live in Lagos, married with 2 kids of primary school age.I'm currently tired of the Nigeria business atmosphere. I want to relocate to Abidjan by January 2019 with my family,as I speak about 50% French, my wife too, been that we have been trading cars between Cotonou and Nigeria.

My questions*
(1)
Can I be able to set up a private business in Abidjan with #2million naira I have saved
(2)What can I be buying in Nigeria and selling in Abidja, since I'm already used to the west African borders and south education on ECOWAS and NEPAD treaties?
(3)what part of the country will be suitable for me and my family?

(4)outside the #2million for business purpose, can I be able to buy a car that I can always drive to Nigeria during the Yuletides?

(5)been that Lagos has almost all goods,What particular items can triple my money when sold in Abidjan?

(6)Are their Authorities (police) flexible?

(7)what transport company can convey good from Lagos to Abidjan and the modality for settlement ?do I pay every expenses in Nigeria, including all custom charges before my goods can be moved to Abidjan?

Please your candid advice will be highly appreciated.

Good day sir.
Answers to your questions ;
1: Yes, you can but it depends on the type of business and the person/s that help you start.
2: From my experience, Lebanese are major auto dealers here. I always envy the business but have no knowledge about it. Investing in auto business will be a great idea here but your 2 million is what I am not sure can fit into the business. I heard a rumor that cars above 5 years can't enter the country again.
4:2 million may be able to buy a car here depending on the type and model. A friend told me of his brother that registered his wife's car with 2.5 million CFA. Registration cost here can buy a car in Nigeria. Though it depends on the car and model but it's very costly.
5: Anything Auto.
6: Very friendly from my experience. I have been stopped multiple times by them and each of the times, they always greeted politely before any question. One day that I was looking for a particular office, a police officer I approached helped me with the location.
7: The Young Shall Grow.
My advice; calm down and plan very well. Abidjan is very costly. Whatever you spend in Nigeria in a month, you will spend triple or more here. As a family man, English schools here are expensive. But if you are determined, you can make it. Nigerians own hotels, houses and many big investments here. If they could, you can too . Thanks
