NAIRALLANDER:Bro, visit a good hospital for a Kenalog injection. According to the person who recommended it to me when I treated mine "it should be taken under the supervision of a medical doctor". The one I took in Jos, the doctor/pharmacist was injecting me in the buttocks. I couldn't see any effect. Later when I traveled back home, I visited another hospital where I was given the injection at the very spot. The keloid varnished within a week. But the injection is very painful. The one at my nose area hasn't totally gone because I couldn't go back due to the pains. |
mikejegede:Interested but you didn't put their prices |
gentlesoulalive:How do you plan to survive with such salary here? It may not even be enough for your accommodation alone. |
Ajaytobey24:Whatever I write here is my personal experience. I will choose business in Naija. Money can be made easier in Naija than here but you have all the basic amenities here. The amount you invest in your business mainly is a determinant factor of your return. It will worth it but with time. You shouldn't expect to make money the way it's made in Nigeria. Nigeria is a very rich country. Once they see you as a Nigerian here, na money go dey their minds. Though, there are many rich Nigerians here who have made too much money but how? I don't know. It will be better to source for your goods from Nigeria if you want to make reasonable gains. This country is best for good living, comfort and rest of mind. I don't think an average Ivorian can be diagnosed of High blood pressure. They are too happy for that. |
Ajaytobey24:I will suggest you narrow your choice of accommodation location to your place of business/work. That way, you will save enough money from transportation. Transportation is not cheap unless you live close to where you can access Sortra buses. Koumassi is cheap but I won't even advise my enemy to come and live here. They highly lack good road, very dirty and most times, no direct woro woro to one's destination. I will suggest you start with a low budget house first and look for your choice with time. Due to high cost of things, settling down is always difficult and you need to concentrate more on earning a living (Business/work) first.(when I get your business area, I will advise properly on accommodation area) You can buy many things from Nigeria and sell here (Electronics, auto parts, drinks, Naija foods etc) but selling them will be a very difficult task. Unless you have somebody already on ground willing to buy or help you sell. Yes you can still withdraw from SGBCI and BCICI bank but if you plan to come and establish a business here, I will suggest you leave your money with your Nigerian bank and come with updated banking applications that can allow you make transactions online. Almost all the Nigerian business people I know here source their goods from Nigeria. I will stop here for now. You can ask more questions where you need clarification and I will try my best. Note : life in Naija is free compared to here |
Ajaytobey24:I have stated it several times here. One should just state exactly what one wants to know and people will help. I don't understand what you meant by guide you. Besides, I stated all my experiences here. Just scroll back small and ask all your questions. Remember to mention me if you need my attention. Thanks |
Jokenuga:State what you would like to know and I will try my best. Mention me when you need my attention. Thanks |
Great piece. You really nailed it |
Taiwo20:Not looks. This is Golf 4. |
To all those asking questions about the kind of business that moves. The question will be very hard to answer. Business is very diverse and I will advise, try to get a brother or friend who is in line of the business you have in mind before coming. It will be very difficult to connect with a Helper here. Though, you maybe at an advantage if you understand Yoruba but if you want to hope on my Igbo brothers, your chances are very slim. Try to visit first and weigh the ground. I have said it before, doing business in a foreign land that you don't understand their language is a very hard nut. |
Sunnysteve009:This I think should exclude highbrow areas |
Interested, please go on |
Jfolu:I am always available here. |
Jfolu:Honestly, I don't know much about music but being a French country, I can't tell how easily you can adapt here. I will suggest you visit first and see how things go before relocating. |
ay4joy2008:Why not just be specific on your wants instead of dropping your whatsapp number. I will personally try my best but any conversation outside the tread is not welcomed. |
Jfolu:State exactly what you want here. I suggest you get all the info you want too before coming. Nigerians maybe the last people to give you a listening ear on arrival. |
goodieuzo:That amount is even small. When you remove accommodation 30k-50k Naira, buy your basic things. How much do you think will be left? Besides, one will be faced with a language barrier, thereby barring you from establishing a business immediately. Though, I have heard stories and met people who came here with nothing but are already doing great. But one just has to consider the price. |
onatisi:This is nothing but the truth. It was here that I discovered that Nigeria is a very cheap country to live in. Whoever wants to come should please ask proper questions. Like I wrote in the past, most of the information given at the tread earlier are no longer obtainable . I have personally written enough about cost of living here, at a point it seemed like I was discouraging people. But the truth is that most Nigerians I have seen here are rich. Their sources, I am yet to know. |
heaven4me:Your perception is wrong as I still encounter challenges here on daily basis. How can that be when I buy paracetamol that I used to buy 20-50Naira 200cfa, antimalaria 2500cfa, Antibiotics 8700cfa? If I should tell the truth, Abidjan is over hyped. Cost of living is just too high. Whoever wants to come should be fully prepared. |
ogbolu0147:San Pedro is outside Abidjan. I haven't been to the place and virtually don't know anyone there. But I suggest you take the bull by the horn. Arrive Abidjan and board a bus going to San Pedro at Adjame. When you get there, you look for a hotel to stay for few days and sort yourself out. Cost of living is cheaper there compared to Abidjan. I believe you can speak French already. You can as well drop questions about what you want to know about the place and I will try my best to ask friends. |
heaven4me:Abidjan is cool, I am cool too. Settling in a strange country with strange language is not rocket science. Nigga has been trying to settle small small. |
lovethone1:Budget from 80k cfa and above (1kcfa = N650) when I checked last. Though, you can get a cheaper one. |
Yemight2202:From what I have read here, the visa takes time. So it's advisable to apply 3months to your date. I will advise you read the thread from page one too, it will help you greatly |
Harzontorh:Boss! Let's go together nau. As all these Marcory babes no allow person concentrate. Na to run enter France better. |
ogatboy:Thanks in a million dear. I will just find a way and contact my school. |
Application requires uploading some documents: 1Copy of your most recent diplomas, with a translation of the diploma in French or English. Certified 2 copy of the final grades obtained for all University Studies. 3Copy of grades obtained so far for this academic year, and date by which you can provide your final grades (final transcripts will be needed for admission). 4Recommendation letter(s). You can submit up to three recommendation letters (print on letter head, and submit using the on-line tool (uploads) Ogatboy and the gurus, please help explain 2&3 for me. I think 3 is my academic transcript. On 4, I am not applying from Nigeria, so meeting with my academic Lecturers for the letters will be difficult. Though, I can contact my HOD. Can recommendation letters outside my school be accepted? |
@cutieme, nice that you speak French. But honestly, I don't know and can't tell much about getting a job because I am not in the line. |
cutieme:Aren't you supposed to be talking about basic communication in your daily activities like eating, transportation etc. I wouldn't want to recall how I managed to eat my first meal here. I nearly gave up on the process. If you understand perfect French, you may find a job but honestly, I can't write about jobs here as I am not in the line. |
cutieme:The amount is in Naira. Houses I have seen; one room 30-35k cfa, self con 50 - 80k. A friend that stays in two rooms apartment pays 60k cfa per month. Anyone thinking of coming here should know that things are highly expensive. I am not trying to discourage anyone but it will be nice to have the clear picture before embarking on the journey to avoid regrets. |
SimplyFabulous:please mention me next time you need my attention. There are many decent rooms depending on your definition of decent. On the cost, budget from 25k to 50k per month excluding water and light bill. |
I must appreciate your efforts. You are really doing a great job. May God bless your efforts. I am highly following with keen interest. |
ogatboy:I have written to them already and waiting for the application period. Should I fail to secure a scholarship, I will need a sponsor but the issue is that my sponsor is not in any way related to me. Just a friend. Can that be accepted? |
