So... now, how best can we go to Abidjan if we can't get a straight bus and the 'bit by bit' route seems stressful coupled with crossing of some rivers as someone said above?

Or is there a possible route through the northern borders

Relocating completely, can I drive my personal car from Nigeria to there??
No, the border is currently closed. If your car is less than 5 years old, you can when the border opens (Cars older than 5 years are not allowed entry into the country)

In addition, the Residence Permit costs 2k to 5k Cfa. For you brother to be able to drive, he must acquire their Drivers Licence which cost 150k Cfa. Driving is a lucrative profession here. Gracias
Residence permit is 2k at every police station. Driving license is subject to Negotiation. Did mine for 110mil. If he has Nigerian driving permit, he should come with it.

Hey guy, many thanks for the heads up about living in Ivory Cost, I have few questions to ask for a brother that intends to move to Abidjan next year:
How long and how much can he get residence permit after arrival?
How much does cab drivers earn daily there? Do they have uber or bolt there?
Kindly help out with this information because my brother is a professional driver and he understands basic French smiley
You can get residence permit even same day of arrival. Just go to the police station and request for it. I don't know how much drivers earn here. They have Yango

I wanted to ask for help here then I came across this trend, have already planning to move to Gambia since we don’t have issue with language there and it’s a bit close already but I gave it a thought since am here already lemme ask maybe Someone can help, I really like this country but……
I don’t know if it’s because of the guy that brought me here( just like they say,”you only know where you stopped”) He’s hustling on the street but I don’t really want that, how long can I be on the street, am not getting young anymore, I need advice on the kind of business someone can get into at least to manage
Your sincere advice is needed
If you don't have up to 5 million, I will advise you hustle with that your guy on the street for the main time. There's a high scarcity of shops currently and new shops are no go area. Caution ranges from 5 million to 50 million( It's not what a newbie can afford) forget about those big big businesses you see. Most of them got the shops many years ago.

is there no other way of visiting Abidjan that is legit?

I don’t feel comfortable crossing a border that is set to be officially closed.

Kindly share more light on this or advise on any other neighboring country that I can visit.

Thank you.

can I go without a passport
Yes you can, just have a valid means of Identification. Though, people asking for your means of identification just need it to determine how much to bill you. Nigerians are billed highest.

Good info roughdiamond
Would you be so kind to give us all the cost there is please?
Honestly, there's no fixed cost but hold like 15k Fcfa for Ghana police, 15k Fcfa for border crossing, 7k Fcfa for Ivorian police, transport 15k Fcfa.
Note: All the given amounts are just estimates, it may be lower

Good day to you all,

I have a training in Ghana in the coming months and I am planning to visit Abidjan by road.

I will like to know if it safe to go by road and how to go about it.

Regards
It is very safe. Go to Circle in Accra and ask of Elubo bus. ( Try as much as you can to get Elubo direct) Hold some money for the Ghana police on the way and avoid any form of arguments with them if you are a Nigerian (They hate Nigerians). When you get to Elubo, I will advise you cross the border with other travelers (you will cross through water as the border is still closed). The agents will take you to the park (Côte d'Ivoire side) Join a bus going to Abidjan or if you want it faster, board the one going to Aboisso (1k-1k500). From Aboisso, board MD Transport to Abidjan (2k). Note, you will still settle police (around 7k) from the park to Abidjan. Safe trip

What if you just go with the desktop's hard drive or go with the whole board?

WhyNa:
Hey guys,

It's been a minute. Again, apologies for not updating frequently. Like I said earlier, I only want to give out content that's new or that helps in anyway either by giving you insight of what life is like here or what to expect for those coming.

Sadly, I haven't been able to do much of that compared to when I just arrived as I work work work and then this year's TET wasn't a fun one due to Covid-19 so I couldn't go out or take pictures.

Anyways, everything is under control now and schools are back on. Yayyyy. I'll be resuming on Monday.

So today, I visited another province 3 hours from mine and used the sleeper bus. See pictures attached.

Here's what my experience was like....

The journey to the province was amazing. We were just about 10 or so even though we left by 8am and the bus could take maybe 40 people.

The seat/bed was sooo comfortable with enoughhhh leg space and options to comfortable recline or adjust your seat/bed however you want.

There's AC and WiFi and blankets are provided. You also take off your shoes when you go in and you're given a nylon to put them. We had a brief stop one hour into the journey and when stepping out of the bus, slippers are provided so you don't need to put your shoes back on again.. I slept very well. Haha.

The journey back though wasn't so amazing for one sole reason. The bus was fiull. The only vacant seat/bed was Infront and I wast comfortable so the moment someone from the back alighted, I took the space and big mistake....foul odour. I jejely went back to my previous space.

This is my first experience though. Probably some people there had some BO issues or maybe that's the way it is when the bus is full but I doubt cos only that area had that foul odour.

In order news, I've started my quest on finding side hustles one can do here apart from teaching. I already have one but hey, I gat Igbo blood

Did you know bone straight hair comes from Vietnam . Let me know if you're into that let's do business.

Someone asked about school and visa. I still don't know how schooling and visa works here. I only know about working and visas.

To those "waiting" for it to get "better" ....well, while it's good to have hope, I'd advise you either take your time and think fast or while thinking, have options b and c because as long as Covid-19 is around, there's no getting better.

I've watched visa prices increase with 100usd, then 500 USD, then more than 1000 USD thanks to the rules the government keeps dishing out.

As if that's not enough, IELTS will soon follow so make hay if you've really thought about it and you feel Vietnam is the place for you.

This changes are also good for us here already as compared to the stupid 800 USD per month they were offering our African brethrens, it's now 1200. It's still poor to me but very okay for a beginner.

Hopefully, I can give more frequent updates. It may help if there's a particular topic or there are pictures of particular things you want to see. Then I can work on that.

Peace
I am aware that Double drawn hairs come from Vietnam and do get chats from Vietnam hair vendors too but I was afraid of doing business with them. They got my number from my page and could possibly be scammers. If the hairs are cheap and shipping to my location is hassle free, we can do business.

Car Talk / Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by roughdiamond(m): 12:57pm On Feb 18, 2021
My car (Honda Accord 2006) was over heating, so I took it to one mechanic who specialized on Hondas only. First, he said it was Themostat and should be removed. It was done but the problem continued. Next, he said that the fan was not working. I bought a new fan and replaced but the problem continued still. I went back and this time, he said that the top gasket had burnt and should be changed. I dropped the car with him and it was changed. But the problem continued, I went back and he discovered that the radiator cover was bad, which I changed before leaving the village. But I found out after changing the top gasket that check engine light appeared on the dashboard. I went to the mechanic village and was directed to one electrician who scanned the car. After the scan, he didn't tell me anything but told his boys to loose the sensor. I got angry and told them to close my bonet and went home. Later changed my oil but found out that oil life reads 15%. Could the sensor really be bad? I need an advice because I don't have more money to waste. The car is in the East.

Change your title. It's not a 2006 model. This particular model stopped at 2005 and your car is not even 2005. It is either 2003/2004.

I can remember a particular friend I started giving money right from when I was still in school. Not only did I give him money but also paid for all our drinks each time we drank together. I can't count the number of times I had given him money but just sometime last year, he contacted me for money, I told him that I had a project but to my greatest surprise, this guy started ranting like he gave me money to keep for him. Even forgot all the times I gave him in the past. I never replied him. One of my greatest weaknesses is the way I give out money but that mustn't enter 2021.

I just flew into Abidjan from Germany with my girlfriend two days ago, and so far, it's been so good.

Can anyone recommend where I can exchange money with good rates? Also, how can one get around with sotra bus system? I have been using a taxi since I came, but I want to travel and live like a local. And anyone knows if the borders are open? I want to travel to Ghana, Guinea, and Burkina Faso possibly. We really want to see West Africa, and this is the time. Recommendations are welcome.

I will be updating my sojourn here in Abidjan as time goes by, but so far, it has been so good. Food is the cheapest thing here.
To board Sortra buses, you can use your Phone's GPS to search for "arrêt de bus" close to you. It costs mostly 200F to any destination. (some charges 500f). Try to visit Assinie mafia, Camp millionnaire(don't know if I got the name correctly but you can Google Maria Resort and contact them). To change money, go to Treichville, Airport or Cap Sud. Borders are still closed. You can only visit those countries by flight.
