walcolm: my bad...yeah of course there's a difference....2G is EDGE, a slower and older data transmission technology...4G typically refers to LTE which is the latest in mobile data transmission technology but is not yet implemented in Nigeria. the best is currently at 3.75G (H+) and that is not even widespread

like someone just mentioned below, 2G speed places less demand on your phone due to restricted and slower data transmission so if you are going to be without a charging point for a significant length of time, you can drop down to 2G to conserve battery life

walcolm: are u trying to log into your yahoo account via the web browser? that's so 1999

you need to just link your yahoo account to your BB .

Just go to Settings->Accounts

walcolm: its normal for a smart phone to become warm when there's high antenna activity. its usually related to data transmission. if your phone is working extra hard to maintain high speed data connection, it will become warm

to solve that, you will need to t drop down from 3G to 2G or move to an area with better signal

cassette: I understand that MTN has resolved the network issues with blackberry but I am still unable to browse on my Z10..is anybody else experiencing this issue..

walcolm: is it a new airtel sim? if its an existing airtel sim that has been used to subscribe for BIS service before, it should be a breeze

walcolm: can you see other files in your dropbox? the pictures in question were saved to dropbox from where?

Note:
Dropbox has to sync the pictures from one device to the 'cloud' before the pictures can now be rendered on another device e.g. pictures from your laptop has to sync to the dropbox 'cloud' and when you log on to dropbox from your BB, you will then be able to access those pictures

walcolm: if you have someone with an airtel sim and active data subscription, borrow it and put in your BB...once it settles in and you see that you can get data service, check for the OS update again...your phone should be able to detect the availability of the update

OR

If you have a phone that has mobile hotspot, turn it on and let your BB connect to that hotspot and check to see if your mtn sim will be able to detect the update

walcolm: which network do you use? do u have access to a free wifi?

if you use Airtel or Glo, connect to a wifi and check for the software update again...

okeys112: That's a 10.0 Operating System. You need a 10.1 OS update. Go to your Software update which can be found under settings to download the current available OS.

walcolm: So for all the new BB10 users. i am sure you have noticed an app on your shiny new BB10 called 'CONNECT TO DROPBOX'

in case you are wondering what it is, it is a cloud sharing app for saving files to a cloud drive so you can access it anywhere so long as you have access to internet service from any device.

all you have to do is log on to your 'dropbox account' from any device anywhere in the world and your files are available to you

dropbox gives you a 2GB cloud drive space for registering but if you use my link below, you get an additional 500MB once you install the dropbox to your computer.

note the emphasis on installation to a computer. it is because your computer acts as your master device and all your other devices reference it
