on your second point sir, I purposely withheld the hotel name cos I don't want to spoil their business and don't forget am still lodging here . am a lagosian I have no family or friend in Benin if any of this hotel staff see this thread they will surely know am the one created this thread cos am the oldest lodger here and i complain a lot other people are complaining too. 2 days ago they even spread some of those mattresses in the sun and I heard they fumigate the hotel a month ago don't know if its true . I can only mention the hotel when I leave here.

Oga, a 7.62mm round is a 7.62mm round. It will fire from any such breech block. The variation in rifle rounds has nothing to do with the calibre but the mechanics of the bullet in the jacket and how it reacts when fired. Apart from custom made munitions which are very expensive, it is impossible to attach a specific bullet to a specific rifle of the same calibre. They should just carbon date it and do their archeological studies.

Wrong.... all 7.62 are not the same..
the russian made rifle uses a 7.62*39mm bullet which can also fire a nato / US 7.62*51mm bullet... but a NATO built 7.62*51mm chamber gun can not fire a 7.62*39mm successfully the pressure of the nato. .51mm gun can cause the .39mm to explode in the chamber....
now there is a big difference btw the 7.62 *39 and the .51mm the size of the brass head will let you knw.. that is why i knw it was not the bullets from russia nor civil war...

my friend ak47 has been in use since 1949 and made popular in the Hungarian revolution war of 1956 then it became present worldwide in 1956 so it was also used during the Biafra war

bullets shown in the pic are for ak47 variant model 7.62mm*51 produced years after the civil war ... plus nigeria produces that variant of ak47 ... and as such can be nigerian made.. hence police know dis and want to do an investigation

sorry i spoke in advanced knowledge terms... becos if you know the ak 47 initially was produced in1944 approved in 1947 remodeled from 1946 hence those who know the difference will call it ak46 and many more variants exist... but becos their design model was based on the initial ak47 they are all nicknamed ak47.. most nations have their variants including ALMIGHTY NIGERIA ours is called OBJ006....

and if truly those bullets are the civil war relics.. they would have gone off... that is- practically begin to explode( in lay man's term shoot) becos those type of bullet where so unstable and given the years the force of the unearthing will trigger them... even the heat of the sun will make some go off..... remeber ikeja cantonment bombblast of years back. it was caused because the AC in the room where this old unstable ammuniation was kept went bad and no one knew when the temprature bcame hotter they began to explod

those bullet belong to an automatic rifle presumably the AK47... and as such it isnt the civil war bullets... someone bought them had no need for them again then buried them.... i think it was bought during election period by politicians.. or the biafra agitators...
metal will always corrode if buried without proper care but bullets take very long to corrode... even at that i suspect its just dirt (soil stains) on the bullets... apply water and they are good for use...
