Mphahlele on Amajita teammates Posted: 2009-01-22 21:43 In the latest edition of KICK OFF magazine, we speak to Ramahlwe Mphahlele, who gives us the lowdown on his Amajita teammates. The Moroka Swallows defender pulls no punches in his in-depth, behind-the-scenes secrets on his Under-20 mates. Here are just some of the things he has to say: ON THULANI HLATSHWAYO ‘Mike Tyson’ is the biggest guy in the team and is very serious about his job. But, despite being so big, he is such a coward – this one time in Swaziland, he ran out of his room naked, claiming there was a snake in the shower, yet it was only a lizard. He didn’t even sleep in his room that night and chose to come and squeeze in with me in my single bed! ON THULANI SERERO This is the fattest, shortest and cleverest player, though not so skilful. He is obsessed about being the most handsome player in the team, but I don’t think he is. While he eats a lot, he also says that not playing at Ajax contributes to his bulging weight. Though he likes talking about girls and they also like him, he tends to chicken out when they come around. He once forgot his hotel room number while we were in Ethiopia and then got into a wrong room, where he was threatened with an AK-47 by some man who I suspect was with a woman. ON MANDLA MASANGO ‘Kaká’ is the most popular player in the squad and keeps his head high all the time, regardless of how difficult the challenge is. But he just doesn’t seem to like talking. ON PHUMELELE BHENGU I was at the same school as ‘Ace’ since Grade 10, so I know him very well. He wanted to quit football and get a bursary to study, yet he wasn’t intelligent at school – I think he was confused at the time, but now I’m glad he made the right decision.

Jarus:Yes,let me say this, unless one of our boy was born at home in a village somewhere in the bundu, but then in SA there is a clinic or a hospital within 20 km of every village. My point is child registration in SA is recorded by the hospital. No child will attend pre school(1-5years olds) without thier birth certificate and their health card same goes when you go to school, and you will never recieve a Identity and Passport withouth your birth certificate. And all this boys can pull their health card and birth certificate any time,to prove thier age.Schools and hopitals also have records. To answer your question yes they are truly under 20,we have no reason to cheat. If we are not good enough then we accept.Nigeria stop cheating |
FBS:Guys I always want to know this, what happens to all the real 19 years you have at home? This team is full of 25 year olds,I can see them by looking at their faces.God save your country,I believe you waisting this boys time, because they have only six years left to play competive football if they get spotted.Rather play with the real 19 years old you left at home,I believe Nigeria have a talent and they don't need to cheat. But we will still beat this overage team.

In South Africa we have the samething but its called "Musangweni",It is practised by Venda people in the northern part of south africa. http://www.news24.com/News24/Sport/More_Sport/0,,2-9-32_1859751,00.html No 'Diesel' so 'Zulu' wins 08/01/2006 17:37 - (SA) Norman Mmbengwa Johannesburg - This sport is not for the faint-hearted. Here, there are no rules or limits. Musangwe (traditional, indigenous bare-knuckle fighting) is a well-known sport still practised among Vhavenda people today. Fighters are allowed to hit with their fists and use their heads and knees to defeat their opponents. The use of muti is also permitted. Who takes part? Males of any age, even nine year-old boys, can take up the fight. The recreational sport is a humour-filled one and spectators and referees treat it as such. The Musangwe event takes place in Gaba village outside Thohoyandou every December. When we arrived to witness the grand finale the air was thick with anticipation. The locals were looking forward to seeing who would be crowned overall champion. Although Musangwe can be quite dangerous, it enjoys a big following in the area. The open space next to the dipping tank which doubles as an arena and a ring for fighters was packed to capacity. About 4 000 people had turned up for the finale to see if Pfarelo "Zulu" Mahadulula would successfully defend his title against challenger Eric "Diesel" Muvhali. But it is not so much about winning as it is about proving your manhood - "Zulu" was unanimously crowned champion after "Diesel" failed to turn up for the fight. - City Press Other links http://www.journeyman.tv/?lid=57630&tmpl=synopses http://v.mcomet.com/detail/3011904/ |

Now this Moses Mabhida,Durban in Kwazulu Natal Province of South Africa Jordaan delighted with Durban’s 2010 “engineering miracle”(LOC) Thursday 15 January 2009 The completion of Durban's iconic arch above the Moses Mabhida Stadium is an "engineering miracle" which has given South Africa's 2010 FIFA World Cup™ organisers great confidence. This was the view of an ecstatic Chief Executive Officer of the 2010 FIFA World Organising Committee South Africa, Dr Danny Jordaan, after news this week that the show-stopping arch above the 70 000-seater 2010 semi final stadium had been successfully assembled. The highest point of the arch is 106 metres above the middle of the pitch and consists of 56 separate ten metre pieces weighing 3 500 tons. The last piece of the arch, fitted this week, completed a mammoth construction puzzle and weighed 60 tons. In March last year the first sections of the arch arrived by ship from Hamburg, Germany and less than a year later the intricate design element is complete. It is already attracting plenty of local and international attention and is set to change Durban's skyline forever, giving the city a tourist landmark akin to New York's Statue of Liberty and Sydney's Opera House. "This amazing feat again shows that without doubt our 2010 stadiums will rank among the best in the world when they're completed. In particular I would like to congratulate Durban mayor Obed Mlaba, city manager Mike Sutcliffe, project co-ordinator Julie-May Ellingson and the entire stadium team. We're delighted with the completion of the arch of the stadium. It's an engineering miracle, which went off without a hitch. This historic moment signals two important things, the capacity of South Africa's construction industry and the commitment of South Africa's 2010 host cities," said Jordaan. A high-tech cable car has been designed to take visitors to the highest point of the arch where they can take in panoramic views of the city and Indian Ocean, while the top of the arch can also be accessed by scaling hundreds of steps. Durban's Strategic Projects Unit Director, Julie-May Ellingson, said: "This is an event which we have eagerly looked forward to for many months. The completion of the arch is a major milestone in the City's preparations for 2010 and exciting proof that we are well on track." The construction of the stadium has captured the imagination of Durban residents, many of whom have made regular stops at the visitors' centre to photograph the stadium progress and particularly the erection of the arch. But while its breathtaking to look at, functionally the arch will also provide critical support for the stadium roof, which will consist of Teflon coated glass fibre membranes. In total the roof will have a surface area of 46 000 square metres and will be suspended from the arch by 95 mm diameter steel cables and secured around the perimeter of the stadium by an 880 meter steel compression ring. Jordaan was delighted with the progress being made at the country's "big three" stadiums, Johannesburg's Soccer City, which will host the 2010 opening match and final, Cape Town's Greenpoint Stadium and Durban's Moses Mabhida Stadium, the tournament's semi-final venues. However, he was equally proud of the hard work and dedication shown by the tens of thousands of construction workers at all ten 2010 FIFA World Cup stadiums. "All of the stadium teams have shown their commitment to deliver on time. It gives us huge comfort and confidence that we will meet our FIFA deadlines. There is no doubt that by the time the 2010 FIFA World Cup Final Draw takes place in Cape Town on December 4 2009, the 32 teams will be able to visit the completed stadiums they will be playing at in June 2010," said Jordaan. http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/news/newsid=997199.html
