@ Daruche, That was a rather extremist view of the issue. What happens to the 'foolshness of God' being greater than man's wisdom? What happened to Paul famous 'I talk now as a fool'? Did it mean that Paul was an unbelieving folk? My! And he (by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit) wrote two-third of the New Testament! Oga, you cannot call fantasy false just because one dictionary out of thousands said so. Fantasy is simply imagination. Fantasy can even substitute for imagination. I guess u only read KJV, have u tried Living Translation and Amplified Bible? Look up the words imagination and fantasy in both if u use electronic Bible like me. I am yet to imagine something so strongly and prayed about it so well and yet didn't get to see it practically, physically, literally happen. Analytical/Gamine, It was this kind of know-it-all, conclusive and extremist posture I was talking about at the beginning. Problem with many Christians is that they pick isolated scriptures and speak with such finality that one begins to ask: what happens to out of the mouth of two or three witness. shall every matter be established? What happens to contextual comparism of scripture to scripture? |
Well, I think Faith is the evidence of things hoped for and the certainty of things not yet seen. Foolish is not being sensible: showing, or resulting from, a lack of good sense or judgment. Fantasy is imaginative power: the creative power of the imagination; mental image or dream: an image or dream created by the imagination; impractical idea; an unrealistic and impractical idea. Can you all see the similarity of the three? There is a thin line of difference and only by the Spirit of God can you decipher it. To exercise faith, you have to be insensible sometimes - as did Mary (the virgin) and Sarah, the mother of nations. To exercise faith, you have to exercise creative power of the imagination - as did Abraham as he viewed the stars in the sky and as did Joseph, the dreamer. Recall that even the Lord calls the things that were not as though they were. Let there be light and there was light. It takes the Spirit of God to tell you the difference between your very strong faith, your imaginative sense and mere act of foolishness in the name of faith(zeal without knowledge). So to avert this, do two things: pray and get familiar with the Word. |
If you give Muslims a separate child board, would you also allow Shintoists to have theirs? Unity is it but I hope unitary protagonists would also be able to stomach sharp contrary views and opinions? I doubt. |
I am proud of my school too: Guguru Grammer School, Ajegunle, Lagos. The anthem is: Guguru perere, epa perere. O ya to! School of all; No fees, no rules, no uniform. Guguru perere, epa perere. School of all games; Street games et al. O yatooo! O yatooo! Ani o yatooo! E ya damo. One love. |
MC Usman:To Mallam Usman, wanne zance kake son a yi? Mai ya samu zancen mata? ![]() |
Okay, what about this: Someone once preached about Faith, Foolishness and Fantasy. What is the difference between them and what are their similarities? |
Ashe Clemcy mache che? Shi ne take ka*hi a waje aka? Chap! Mutanen mu, yaya ku ke? |
I am having thong undies on as I write and I'm Christian, have I been disqualified already? No human knew about the undies until now(because I've mentioned it). Nobody knows because nobody needs to know. Do they not call those parts PRIVATE? |
@ Gamine, What I mean dear, is that when we keep it short and interesting. it would be more like a chat than a message. That way, we would be discussing serious matters without actually sounding serious. Get that? |
This is a nice thread and very good sense behind it. But with all the long scriptural quotes, many of us have made it difficult to read and such a boring thread. Can't we keep it simple and chatty? Must everyone show off their spiritual grandstanding? Please let it be a 'fellowship' and not a 'church'. |
Hi, Which female univeristy hall of residence is the most famous in Nigeria: Moremi, Queen's, Ramat, Amina, Hall 1? |
If choosing between ZIB and PHB has become so difficult, why not leave both and go to Union Bank instead? ![]() |
With the handing over of Bakassi Local Govt of Nigeria to Cameroun, what would the nationality status of Senator Florence Ita-Giwa a.k.a Mama Bakassi be? ![]() What about the bakassi people, would they now be Camerounians? |
I think this book was plagiarised. I read a book titled "A WIFE FOR THE GOVERNOR" some ten years ago. The theme and even the use of a live female model are all the same. This was a stolen idea. |
Gamine (f) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The man should step down sharply!!! Rev ko, Father ni. The bible clearly states A bishop should be Husband of ONE!!!!! Mmmhhh, See how some people condemn other people's Pastor, while stoutly defending theirs in the same Nairaland! |
Sistawoman, It is normal for a man to be jealous. It is not unexpected if the woman over whom they express such is quite beautiful. A man would natuarally feel threatened when he senses competition especially where he expects none. He would also feel that way probably because he knows your antecedent. And you are a woman ANY man would take a second look at. Mum should be the rule of the game going forward. Also, stay faithful to your husband. the way you spoke about the Oyinbos and how difficult it is to get/keep jobs, it appears you have a limitation on your resolve to stay faithful. I do not intend to accuse you of anything but I fear that you secretely enjoy the way they dot on you. Isn't it Sistaw? ![]() |
