Fubara had already taken over. He had the LGA chairmen aligned against Wike’s Assembly men. The court rulings and suspensions disrupted everything, prompting the Federal Government to step in.

Wike’s main instrument of influence is the House of Assembly members without them, he is powerless. Yet, Wike remains a serving minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which makes it difficult for Sim to brand him a persona non grata.

Absolutely. It began primarily because Sims failed to deliver Rivers State funds to the oga in Abuja. Other issues followed, eventually leading to a complete fallout. Ask around and you’ll hear how the current LGA chairmen are disbursing allocations. Why do you think the oga in Abuja fought so hard to reclaim control of the LGAs?

I was around one of his visit at a certain LGA.....asked about four individuals wearing uniforms. One was part of the security team for the event, while the others belonged to groups that came to show their support. They all expressed support for Sims as Governor, and three also declared support for Peter Obi as President. However, they admitted they were mainly there for the money.


Quietly, Wike’s actions seem to be making Fubara more popular, especially among the locals most notably market women and youths who are showing growing sympathy toward him.
