andycom:Thank you for your contribution |
Please gentlemen/car guru's in the house, I need to make a choice between these 2005 to 2008 vehicles. 1. 2005 Toyota 4runner 2. 2005 Toyota Highlander (off road use) or 3. 2008 Mazda cx-9 4. 2008 Lexus Gs350 (for town commute). Budget for any choice is capped at M3.5m. I need advice on availability for spare parts, competency to repair, engine type to look out for, driving/handling characteristics and fuel economy especially for nos. (3&4). Resale value is not a consideration please. |
Trippledots:Did not see this until now. Contact me through my email. |
Trippledots:I have victronconnect v1.14 that come with firmware v.1.16 if you are comfortable with it. It will not ask you for any update. |
olopan:Send your request to my email |
![]() |
Trippledots:Yes please. Updates are integrated within the app and do not need data connection to update the scc. |
Trippledots:The Victronconnect app is one the most accurate there is for monitoring solar and battery system. The app check for older firmware before it can you grant access to the app then update as appropriate. Nothing stop you from using your device out of the box. If you so decide to update later with the latest firmware please do so. The problem appear to be earlier firmware updates which the latest firmware have superceded without issues. |
Saipro:On your phone open the Victronconnect app without connecting to any device. Click demo mode select 100/50 cc, goto battery and select settings. Write down the all parameters you see and input them on your cc when you connect as I earlier posted. Continue for relay, alarm, display and misc Watch if there are changes to the LED lights flickering. |
Namzy:Honestly, I do not know how I escaped, but I did not use Victronconnect 1.9, only 1.7 then jump to 4.5, everything went smoothly for me and am even on Victronconnect v.5.7 firmware 1.39 for Fangpusun 100/30 and firmware 3.10 for bmv-702. |
Saipro:Do you mean your Fangpusun100/50 is now working? |

Trippledots:Please pay particular attention to his points then decide for yourself. - Hope this helps. Credit: Bobby A question put forward by a DIY Tracer 3210A vs Fangpusun 30/100 Gurus in the house, please which is better between Epever Tracer3210A and Fangpusun MPPT100/30A. I realize that they are both mppt cc and that the Epever has a screen while the Fangpusun requires an external display. Is there anyone here who has used both and can make informed comments about their real life performance. Thanks Answer by Bobby: I have used both controllers extensively below are my observations. I would skip the obvious similarities between both controllers mainly rated Amp and input voltage limits. And talk mostly about areas they diverge. Manufacturer: Both are made in China by Chinese companies. The Tracer is an original product made by the company Epsolar while the other is a clone of the popular victron energy blues solar . Both companies seem to have good support and respect their warranties without much hassle. At least from my experience. Heat management: Both are fanless and rely on heats sink for cooling. The Fangpusun has the better thermal management because it is made from one sheet of cast iron. The tracer has a cast iron dedicated heat sink but the whole body is made of plastic. MPPT Tracking: Both have very good mppt tracking capabilities however the tracer can be unstable sometimes it restart more than once in day to day use. The Fangpusun from my experience has better tracking algorithm especially in cloudy situations. It is also very stable and I have never noticed it restart. Battery charging: Both controllers use the 3 stage battery charging formula. The difference is the absorption end stage. While the Tracer series uses a time based absorption end settings which is user adjusted. (default is 2 hours) the Fangpusun uses a combination of end Amps, Battery voltage and length of bulk time to determine when to end absorption stage for battery. Both methods have their plus and minus. The tracer series can be frustrating especially when the battery just got to float and temporarily dropped back to bulk due to a passing cloud. This would cause the controller to do another round of 2 hours mandatory absorption. Even if the drop to bulk happened for just 5 minutes. This arrangement is not idea for the longevity of a battery bank. Fangpusun fixes this issue by using a mix of time, Battery resistance determined by how much amps the battery can still take, length of time to bulk and initial battery voltage during the charge cycle. This ensures that absorption time varies depending on the battery state if charge. The downside is sometimes the charge algorithm can be so short the battery spend less time in absorption than is not good for its wellbeing. Equalization: Both controllers have settings for periodic equalization. Tracer allows users to set numbers of hours an equalization takes. Fangpusun equalization time is determined by algorithm. Accessories and addons: Tracer has support for External temperature sensors for temperature adjusted battery charging. Wireless and RJ45 connectors for interfacing with computer and mobile devices. Fangpusun supports victron energy’s smart Bluetooth dongle and VE direct USB cable. Support software: Victron energy can be configured using the victron connect software which runs on Android devices, Windows iPhone and Mac. The victron connect supports firmware of the device firmware (although recent updates from victron has started to disable the Fangpusun Chinese clones). Tracer has the power station for the PC which compared the the victron connect is very basic and can be a pain to install. They also have wireless dongle which allows an Android device to interface with the controller Log and Stats. Fangpusun has way better stats and logging capabilities. It takes 30 days log of events with each day having stats on Total kwh harvested, Pick Watt, max and minimum Pv and battery voltage, length of time spent in bulk, absorption and float and ability to export history log to csv format for viewing from spreadsheets. Tracer is pretty basic and only keeps log of total harvest for the day and total controller harvest. Form factor : The Fangpusun has a smaller form factor than the tracer. Display: Fangpusun comes with no built in display but allows connections using an external display. Tracers has display built in but the display is very limited and had no back light. External display: Both devices support external displays. The Fangpusun support the mppt control while the Tracer support the MT50. The later is more user friendly and provide more screen estate. Over all. The superior tracking capabilities, stability and better history support of the Fangpusun wins it for me. Credit: Bobby |
Namzy:Yes turn it back on. The link for the PC firmware was pulled down to protect Fangpusun users and stop messing with settings. If you want the Windows version of victronconnect, go-to victron site, the latest version 5.4 with firmware 1.39 is there. You will also need to download additional files for ve to USB cable to connect with your Windows version. |

Namzy:Let me guide you if you may, you need not be afraid to update. Go here: https://downloadapk.net/down_VictronConnect.html. Download no:17, 9, 7, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 which is the latest version. Now follow this sequence: You can update without a data connection, so SWITCH OFF your data connection of your phone. If you have an Android phone, go to settings, apps, find your Victronconnect app, then Data usage, background data - SWITCH THIS OFF. ( don't allow the app to run in the background. Don't jump to v5.4 to update, do incremental updates starting from no: 17. Connect your phone to your device and when it ask for update do so with your data connection off. Work your update up until you reach v.5.4. Very important: don't mess with the data settings unless your battery voltage and battery type. (I cannot emphasis this enough). I am using Fangpusun 100/30 with v.1.39 and Fangpusun 702 BMV v.3.10 with no hassle. Good luck. |
earthrealm:Which software version is your Fangpusun BMV running? It could be an issue with software that wasn't fix. |
With your proposed update, one 60a mppt cc is recommended. 40a PWM will not charge your battery bank efficiently. |
NwaAmaikpe:This is not fair, his wife made front page here in 2016 as PHD holder in Enviro. Toxicology.

Henry240:I hope so too. There are technology that needs clearance from countries before one can integrate into an airplane. It took a little while for Russia to clear us to acquire the engine to be fitted on the JF17. Engines have been delivered to Pakistan. Sometimes it's not about money but sharing sensitive technologies. |
nemesis2u:Yes you are correct, technology evolve but back then when the Alphajet design was laid, WAC was deemed appropriate that's why I say that the JF17 will expand the delivery envelope. |
Henry240:Yes, switching from AA to AG mode is smooth in display panel. The JF17 will push capability envelope further. |
Henry240:All Alpha jet came equipped with weapon aiming computer (WAC) integrated into the head up display (HUD). This enable accurate delivery of ordinance eg. prefrag bombs, rockets and cannon munitions. Let me correct one error, the cannon on the Alphajet is the 27mm Mauser cannon not 30mm type cannon. |
Destinel, I noticed that You no longer reply to comments to guide opinions, are You angered and probably bitten more than can chew? Let me poke your conscience a bit. 1. You seem to be economical with truths in your situation. 2. This woman of yours is older than You, She has a stable job, a car, house and kids. She also helps financially as appropriate right? 3. How does she refer to the father of her kids? Is it always in the negatives. 4. Have You noticed any over bearing positive attitudes towards you and your relatives and yet try to hide another version of herself that you realize to your regrets? 5. Why did the father of her kids leave, men may be crazy sometimes but not stupid. Destinel, I shall be encouraged to share WISDOM with you when I read further comments from you. I always advice this; Walk away! It cost you nothing! |
john4reala:U just made my day.. Lol. Really there're suitcase type missile lunching computers but they are not referred to as laptops. My day is made. Lol. |
There is a rarely touted phone on Jumia called Blackview, it is made in Hong Kong with all bells and whistles found in 4G and LTE phones at your price range. The OS is android, it's durable with long battery life. I know this because I own one. But remember go for the 4G/LTE versions, or look for such specs on any phone of your choice going forward. Good luck. |
shaddoww:He has a strong semblance. |

My beef with men & women is that it always start with small quarrels and envy in the house until someone is dead. Now no matter whom is at fault, its now a murder case before law & man. A basket case union is never the same & cannot be patched. Two choices were before you, walk or a schedule with the hangman, sadly your choice is the latter. ![]() |
A screwed life from the beginning, serves humanity no good. Rubbish! |
What exactly do you want? Live a life of cat & mouse for the rest of your life? If children are not involved, Bro takes a walk and save everyone the trouble, we are in an age were a good wife is hard to find. ![]() |
See why I always advice that one should walk away! What remains is schedule time with the Hangman. |
