For me, it is kind of a one-factor versus many-factors statistics type scenario... if VVD was the only change to the LFC defensive setup, then that is strong evidence to suggest that improvement(s) can be attributed to him. But he is not the only addition or change, so it is understandable why the rationale is questioned.

For the records, I personally think he makes the LFC defence better, but I can also appreciate why and how someone would see it different!
