I felt naija had a good team out there - the idea was to cover that defence but it just failes woefully & mikel as the creative man in m/f, didn't do well enough.

1st and foremost for Amodu/Amokachi is to find a way to address our defensive frailities - stop the opposition scoring, even if we have to resort to Chelski-like approach of gidigbo, then build from there. our attackers are good, strong and skillful and will always fashion out openings but that defense/defensive midfield areas have to be sorted out first!

Amazing as it seems, this has got nothing to do with keshi or coaching genius. . . . just plain luck as far as i'm concerned. I've seen it before in the AFCON in Burkina Faso, then it was like 3 goals in about 7mins in the 3rd place match between the burkinabes & the DRC.

yep pitch is bumpy. . . . ball too is suspect.

and i'm very certain, keshi is certainly outta his depth here - if he knows what he's doing, it's not showing at all! that change was totally unwarranted. . . xpecially if keita is not a 100% fit.
SportsRe: Africa Nations Cup Angola 2010. The Official Thread by RuuDie(m): 8:24pm On Jan 10, 2010
i dare say that this game, which is only 20mins old, exposes the inadequacies of Keshi as a coach. . . . his team looks ragged & ill-organized, they just might run over here if care is not taken. . . . or is it too soon to say huh

so whats the final verdict with togo. . . . stayn or going huh

Xerez 1 - 3 Valencia

So valencia will move to 3rd, 5 short of Barca. . . . good, good. Mallorca nick some points off RM and then the pressure cooker is on the asses of the top-2.

Barca surely will drop points (my vooo00dooo00 cannot be wrong grin )
when i saw berba completely out of the team that travelled to birmingham,
i knew shyte was up. .
well. . . . u knew wrong!

Sir Alex Ferguson's frustration at Manchester United failing to regain top spot in the Barclays Premier League has been compounded by the news striker Dimitar Berbatov may need exploratory knee surgery.

Berbatov was unable to play any part in United's 1-1 draw with Birmingham at St Andrew's as they were unable to achieve the victory which would have taken them above Chelsea.

Instead Ferguson gave a debut to summer signing Mame Biram Diouf who came on as a second half substitute.

Ferguson said: "Dimitar wanted to play with it but we felt we should try to get it (the knee) sorted and get him fit again.

"He may have to have an exploratory operation."

An operation could keep him out for up to three months.

Last month, Ferguson attempted to quell fears over the Bulgarian's fitness, saying United could nurse him through the season without resorting to surgery.

I don't believe the story but if there is an iota of truth in it, then he should sell not only Berba. Nani, welbeck, tosic, foster and who else
Lemme check
true. . . . if SAF has lost faith in Berba as claimed; then pesin like Nani would be on loan in the Glo premier ligue  grin

Its just a sad case that we're not helping our cause by putting so much pressure on our own players - with the kind of team we have at the moment, we can never play with the pace that UTD fans are so much accustomed to from previous seasons. . . . & way too many players are under-performing; Fletcher, Park, Scholes, Carrick, Nani, welbeck, tosic. . . . last season, even though it was the CR7 show - the other players had significant influence but this term its just very subdued right now.

We can bash Berba all we want but fact remains; when he's on pairing rooney, we tend to create more chances. . .  last night was just shambolic!

For me our strongest setup is 4-4-2 = rooney/berbaatov in attack, giggs, anderson, carrick, valencia all strung along the m/f left to right. . . . all others can be in reserves, we have to stick to this plan as often as possible - we've won most of our games thus far playing so!

Dunno how much of an opposition Tenerife can pose to Barca on their own but with the aid of grandma's voodoo00. . . . surely they can nick a point. grin

Valencia should beat Xerez and move within 5pts off the top, Mallorca should give RM a scare and who knows, maybe even cop all 3. If they manage that, then the margin at the top is gradually being reduced.

I care not if Sevilla loses all the remaining games as long as RM or Barca do not win that title this season! grin

Terrible, terrible result. . . . Jimenez was livid with rage in the 2nd half & maybe he did have a point, but i put the blame on him from the start - we always play with 2 up top why change that now cuz Fabiano is out!? Kone's there, #8.5m pounds to come and sit on the bench!?

Then the defence, Marius Stankevicius should be playing. . . he surely wasn't brought here to warm the bench!
The defending was shambolic - no balance at all!

And then those boys didn't play with enough - gosh, quite an outrage!

Well. . . . last night proved 1 thing to me; no matter how bad Berbatov is acclaimed to be, how slow he is or how lackadaisical he looks - when he's on alongside Rooney, @ least, there's some element of threat. This game was just shambolic. . . . right now, i sincerely don't think UTD can retain this ligue title, maybe the Carling Cup is where our hope lies for a trophy!

Togo's soccer team has decided to play in the African Nations Cup following a deadly attack on the squad, even though its government has withdrawn the side, French sports newspaper L'Equipe reported on Sunday.

L'Equipe quoted midfielder Alaixys Romao as saying the team had agreed to stay in the Angolan enclave of Cabinda for its first Group B match against Ghana on Monday.

"The decision was taken unanimously," said Romao, who plays for French club side Grenoble.

Rebels of the Cabindan separatist group FLEC sprayed the Togolese team bus with gunfire on Friday, killing the driver and wounding nine others. Two members of Togo's soccer delegation died on Saturday and one was undergoing surgery in South Africa.

A Togolese minister said on Saturday that the government had decided to pull the team out of the tournament, which starts on Sunday, because of "this dramatic situation."

But L'Equipe quoted Romao as saying: "We have just had a meeting of the whole delegation and we will be on the pitch on Monday to face Ghana."

Officials of the team and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) were not immediately available for comment.

However, Manchester City said on their website (www.mcfc.co.uk) that their striker Emmanuel Adebayor, Togo's captain, was returning home.

"People have died for the African Nations Cup, others have been injured. We can't let them down and leave like cowards," said Romao.
"If we stay here it's for them but also not to give any satisfaction to the rebels. Our government does not necessarily agree with us but we are all determined to play this competition."
excellent & bold decision by the Togolese & if it is true Adebayor is going back home; then he doesn't deserve to be the skipper of that team or indeed any other.
no matter the outcome of this nation cup for the togolese, they are true & worthy African Kings.

Its hard to shake off, but I think the Togolese should go ahead and play - they'll have the support and sympathy of fans all around the globe & if they do, it's also going to potray Africa in a positive light and show to the world that we do have strength of character in abundance. . . . & in addition, it'd sending a big message to all rebels, millitants & terrorists - you cannot hold a whole race of people to ransom!

Togo. . . . pls, hang on in there; AFCON - let the games begin!
