Foreign Affairs / Re: ICC Seeks Arrest Of Netanyahu & Sinwar For October Attack & Gaza War by Rybnyk(m): 3:34pm On May 20 |
Watianoengineer: You want Allah to punish Israel and leave Hamas and Iran for bringing death to Palestinians? If Hamas were not foolish to start something they couldn't finish, Palestinians wont be suffering today. So as you ask Allah to punish Israel, also ask Allah to punish the people who started the war,the people who are also wicked enough to put military installations in civilian areas knowing fully well that when there is a retaliatory strike, those civilians will be affected. Wicked act to use civilians as human shield. But you are praying for such people. Nawa for you... |

BeeBeeOoh: We have not finished resolving issues with PMS importation, pricing and availability. The govt wants to jump to CNG. What's the guarantee that the same issues won't come up again? And how has the money "saved" from fuel subsidy removal helped the average Nigerian citizen? Why do we keep deceiving ourselves? |

Business / Re: What Do You Think Should Be Done To Appreciate Naira ? by Rybnyk(m): 5:03pm On May 09 |
gnss: The govt should sincerely tackle power issues. It's a major cause of hight cost of production which makes us so dependent on imports. If we export more,we will attract more Forex and the value of the Naira will increase. We just have to reduce the cost of production. It's killing local producers and driving away foreign investors. The govt needs to tackle corruption. Most of the monetary policies can't work because the govt is pretending as if they don't know that most of the major dollar hoarders are the politicians. . Our dwindling oil output is another problem. It has really affected our exports. Oil theft must be tackled sincerely. If the above are rectified,we may have some respite in the long run. In the short run, incessant taxing should stop. Monetary policies like tax holidays should be enacted for SMEs. People who brave it to set up businesses(in very difficult conditions created by the govt) shouldn't be crippled economically because the govt wants to "generate more IGR" We should have a clear direction if all these are resolved... Or we should continue on our self deception journey and blame binance,BDC for the Naira value deterioration... 1 Like |

Education / Re: Top Ten Universities Chosen By Candidates During The 2023 UTME by Rybnyk(m): 10:45am On Apr 27 |
Bluntguy:The list tells a lot about the choices of the candidates. Unilorin is known for less disruption in academic sessions and it's also affordable. Covenant uni is very expensive. Most students would likely go for an affordable school that also has somewhat decent standards. 5 Likes 1 Share |

chieveboy: Stop with this! The so called local companies that you said will replace pz will also face high production costs. Do you think they are leaving because they are going on vacation? Unless we address the issues that make companies close shop in Nigeria, things won't change. Power inadequacy, economic policies also affects the local companies as well. And the local soap manufacturers have to work really hard to come up with a standard product like morning fresh. Maybe mama lemon can try and compete. And that one is becoming scarce in stores. There is a reason... 1 Like |

That there's Chinatown or a neighborhood where Koreans stay in Europe doesn't mean they set up shops that is exclusive to only their people. Davehasmadeit: And you think Russia won't? I laugh at people who think Russia is one "friendly" nation. They are no different from the US and other western countries. If the Russian govt can kill or jail political opponents in Russia, what makes you think they will just smile at any country that goes against their interests? Western and non-western powers are all the same. You can't go against them or their interests, even if your country is at a losing end. It's like choosing between two types of poisons. seanfer: That is why i said those who produce goods that are not affected by dollar fluctuations but are increasing their prices are supposed to be regulated by govt agencies(FCCPC) who are not really doing their job but you didn't read through what i wrote. citizens as well as govt have a hand in the price increase problem.... |
Business / Re: Why Prices Are Still On The Rise Despite Appreciation Of The Naira by Rybnyk(m): 4:44pm On Apr 18 |
seanfer: And who increased import duty on some important components that Nigeria imports? As the value of the dollar is dropping, why has the import duties not been updated accordingly? Citizens aren't the only people to blame here. The govt increased import duty, increased electricity tariffs, what do they expect? It will have an effect on pricing too. If a producer pays more to import raw materials for production and he also pays high rates for electricity, he will increase his prices to make profit or try and recoup some of his production costs. And if people are dubiously increasing prices despite not being affected by any dollar fluctuations, the govt has agencies that regulate such unwholesome practices. Are they performing their functions? Let's not just give the govt a pass because the Naira is gaining in value, they have to also enact some policies to help manufacturers and business people. On the issue of electricity which directly affects the cost of many things to a great extent, people are watching. If the power minister doesn't keep to his words, then the govt is the cause of our problems and not citizens. If the grid keeps on collapsing(I pray it doesn't,then people shouldn't be blamed for venting their frustrations. These interventions and revamps are supposed to help resolve the long term issues that led to the subsidy removals. People need t see workings to have hope... 5 Likes 1 Share |

shortgun: Jesus will want the defamers to seek peaceful means of settling with the defendant(and it will be at the discretion of the defendant. If he chooses to go on with seeking justice, nothing is wrong)or face justice so they won't sin again. But we're in a world where some people just derive joy in hurting others so punitive measures are needed for such people. And it's actually good so one will learn not to hurt others. It's good to be merciful but some people will take it for granted. That's why punishment is needed in some cases. It's very much in line with the teachings of Christ.... |
