FG Approves Dualisation of 420km Akwanga–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe Highway

The Federal Government has approved the dualisation of the 420-kilometre Akwanga (Nasarawa State)–Jos (Plateau State)–Bauchi–Gombe highway.

These roads will feature street lighting, solar-powered lights, irrigation dams, and renewable energy components to support agriculture and earn future carbon credits.

The announcement came during an inspection of the ongoing rehabilitation of the 35.4 km Bauchi–Gombe section, contracted to Triacta Nigeria Limited.

Russia’s drones target the Ukrainian army’s supply routes and rear bases, often threatening to cut off units on the front lines. But they also strike hospitals and civilian traffic.

One area frequently subject to drone attacks is the southern city of Kherson, and what the Ukrainians call the “roads of life” that connect it with the outside world – routes that are protected from Russian attacks as far as possible.

“On average, the Russians launch about 2,500 UAVs on our communities every week. As a result of these attacks, 120 people have died in the Kherson region this year,” Oleksandr Tolokonnikov, deputy head of the Kherson Military Administration, told CNN in November.

It's a subtle abuse of office that is tending towards dictatorship. Governance should be separated from politics. President Tinubu Approves ₦1 Trillion Metropolitan Rail Service For Kano

The Federal Government has approved the construction of a ₦1 trillion Metropolitan Rail Service in Kano State, a major infrastructure project aimed at overhauling urban transportation, reducing traffic congestion, and driving economic growth in the state’s metropolitan area.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf announced the approval while addressing members of the Kano State contingent that participated in the 2025 National Qur’anic Recitation Competition in Borno State.

The governor revealed that his administration’s decision to realign with the Federal Government, led by the All Progressives Congress (APC), was strategic and intended to secure critical development projects for Kano.

The new rail service will provide a modern, efficient, and affordable mass transit system connecting key districts across the metropolis. It is expected to improve resident mobility, facilitate trade, attract investment, and enhance the overall quality of life.

Governor Yusuf described the project as a landmark intervention that will reposition Kano as a leading, transportation hub in Northern Nigeria.

He assured residents that the state government will collaborate closely with relevant federal agencies to ensure transparent execution and maximum benefits for the people of Kano.

The governor expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for the initiative and reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting federal efforts through complementary policies and infrastructure development.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued by Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Director General of Media and Publicity, Government House, Kano.
