The visit featured engaging discussions on how to harmonize and enhance the interplay between these three key facets of society politics, sports, and business for greater national benefit.
Professor Yilwatda emphasized the value of understanding these domains deeply, noting that "politics, sports, and business can be very interesting if understood." Trump Calls Off Tariffs on Europe Over Greenland The president said he reached the “framework of a future deal” on Greenland with NATO Tap for Sound Photo: Fabrice Coffrini/AFP/Getty Images President Trump said he wouldn’t impose tariffs on several European nations after he reached the “framework of a future deal” on Greenland and the Arctic region with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte. He previously said the U.S. wouldn't use force to acquire Greenland, and repeated his claim that only the U.S. is capable of defending it. In an address in Davos that lasted for more than an hour, Trump said the U.S. needs to take control of Greenland purely for security and not for access to minerals, calling Denmark “ungrateful” for U.S. action in World War II. The speech came on the back of raised tensions between the U.S. and Europe over the president's designs on Greenland. https://www.wsj.com/livecoverage/greenland-trump-tariffs-trade-eu |

Politics › Sujimoto: Have You Noticed That Nobody Has Raised Any Ethnic Sentiments? - Reno by ryloy(op): 7:21pm On Jan 21 |
Today, the EFCC has just recovered a whopping ₦1.27 billion from the businessman, Olasijibomi Ogundele, and handed it over to the Enugu State Government after first declaring him wanted and obtaining a court order to detain him.
Have you noticed that nobody has raised any ethnic sentiments? Not a single person.
But the minute the EFCC goes after a high-profile politician, businessman, or celebrity, who is not from the President's ethnic nationality, everybody will rise and shout that such a person is being persecuted because of his ethnicity.
Why isn't Olasijibomi Ogundele being persecuted for his ethnicity?
Listen, for Nigeria to progress as a nation, we must downplay ethnicity and promote objectivity.
If anyone is being prosecuted by the EFCC, the only argument in their defence from the dramatis personae and their supporters must be that they are innocent, not that they are being punished because they are from such and such a place or belong to this or that opposition party. 2027: I’m Better Prepared to Lead Nigeria Than Tinubu, Atiku, Obi — Pat Utomi Political economist and African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain, Prof. Pat Utomi, has declared that he is more prepared to lead Nigeria than President Bola Tinubu and other leading opposition figures ahead of the 2027 general election.
Utomi made the assertion on Sunday while speaking on Politics Today, where he reflected on his political journey, opposition coalition talks, and what he described as Nigeria’s deepening democratic and governance crisis.
According to him, his long-standing commitment to principled politics and consistent party affiliation set him apart from other contenders.
“Has it ever occurred to you that I am more qualified than all of them — including Bola Tinubu — in terms of preparation to lead Nigeria? To be honest, I have never left the ADC since 2007,” Utomi said. https://reubenabati.com.ng/feature/2027-i-m-better-prepared-to-lead-nigeria-than-tinubu-atiku-obi-pat-utomi

Politics › APC National Chairman Projects Over 1 Million Votes For Pres. Tinubu In Plateau by ryloy(op): 11:40am On Jan 07 |
APC National Chairman Projects Over 1 Million Votes for President Tinubu in Plateau State Ahead of 2027 Elections The All Progressives Congress (APC) is exuding confidence about its prospects in Plateau State for the 2027 presidential election, with National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda predicting that the state will deliver more than one million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Speaking at an APC stakeholders’ meeting for the Pankshin, Kanke, and Kanam (PKK) Federal Constituency in Plateau State, Yilwatda described the region's political landscape as having undergone a dramatic transformation since 2023. He said that APC has significantly strengthened its position in Plateau, with many former opponents now joining the party including Governor Caleb Mutfwang commissioners, local government chairmen, and other key appointees. He referred to PKK as the traditional stronghold of APC, emphasizing that the party won major elections there in 2023 (including two out of three local governments for the presidency, Senate, House of Representatives, and most state Assembly seats). Yilwatda assured: “Come 2027, I can assure you that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will pull some of his highest votes here both in numbers and in percentage. There is no ward, no polling unit in PKK that we will not win. Politics is a game of numbers, and our target is over one million votes.” He highlighted unity at both state and federal levels, stating that APC now controls the governorship, national chairman position, nearly all National Assembly and state Assembly seats, and most local positions in the state. The chairman also announced a shift in approach: the party will no longer engage in public criticism of the governor, opting instead for direct communication to support good governance. In addition, Yilwatda noted broader national dominance of APC with over 70 senators, nearly 300 House members, and 29 governors and pointed to internal reforms such as digital membership registration and plans for a new national secretariat in Abuja https://x.com/Imranmuhdz/status/2008840612338921906

Politics › 2027: I Will Step Down For No One - Atiku by ryloy(op): 8:48pm On Jan 06 |
BREAKING: 2027: I will step down for no one, Atiku vows ...accuses Presidency, APC of meddling in choice of ADC candidate Former Vice President and African Democratic Congress presidential aspirant, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has vowed not to withdraw from the 2027 Presidential race.
The former presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party made the declaration in a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by his media aide, Paul Ibe.
In the statement entitled, “Nigeria’s Democracy Under Siege: Opposition Faces Existential Threat, ” Atiku accused the Presidency and the ruling All Progressives Congress of meddling in the choice of the ADC presidential candidate.
Checks revealed that apart from Atiku Abubakar, former Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi and former presidential aspirant on the platform of the APC, Rotimi Amaechi, have also declared interest in the ADC ticket.
Atiku who accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of alleged plot to foist a one party state on Nigeria, further alleged that “agents aligned with the Presidency are now attempting to destabilize the ADC from the outside—issuing reckless prescriptions about its internal affairs, particularly the choice of a presidential candidate.”
The former Vice president however noted that all contenders for the ADC ticket would submit themselves to a presidential convention, having been assured by the party national leadership of “its commitment to an open, transparent, and competitive process for selecting its flagbearer.”
The statement maintained that “any call—overt or covert—for Atiku to “step aside” is a gift to authoritarian ambition and a betrayal of the Nigerian people.”
It read:”For nearly three years, Nigerians have endured one of the harshest periods in recent history—an era defined by punishing economic policies and shrinking democratic space under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“True to form, this administration has not only inflicted widespread hardship but has pursued a calculated effort to eliminate political alternatives. The objective is clear: a creeping, de facto one-party state.
“Perhaps the Tinubu administration’s most disturbing “achievement” has been the systematic weakening of opposition parties, leaving the All Progressives Congress—despite its manifest failures—standing alone by default, not by merit.
“Thankfully, patriotic leaders saw this danger early and chose resistance over silence by rallying around the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the nucleus of a credible national alternative.
“Predictably, agents aligned with the Presidency are now attempting to destabilize the ADC from the outside—issuing reckless prescriptions about its internal affairs, particularly the choice of a presidential candidate.
“Let it be stated plainly: the ADC is on a national rescue mission. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, alongside other committed patriots, is central to this effort. Any call—overt or covert—for Atiku to “step aside” is a gift to authoritarian ambition and a betrayal of the Nigerian people.
“The ADC has consistently affirmed its commitment to an open, transparent, and competitive process for selecting its flagbearer. APC proxies and external meddlers have no standing to intimidate, blackmail, or sabotage this democratic resolve.
“At present, the ADC is focused on building strong ward, local government, and state structures nationwide. Disruptors and infiltrators must allow the party to do this essential work without interference.
“The party remains open and welcoming to all genuine opposition figures. This inclusiveness—not coercion—is the soul of democracy.
“When the time comes, all qualified aspirants will present themselves freely. No one is stepping down. If anyone should step aside, it is President Tinubu—whose leadership has become a national liability.
“The recent public declaration of ADC membership by former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi in Enugu, the political heartbeat of the Southeast, triggered open boasts by a serving minister and presidential aides about plans to undermine the party. Their fear is evident.
“Let there be no ambiguity: the ADC is determined to end the misfortune imposed by the Tinubu-led APC. No amount of intimidation, intrigue, or sabotage will derail this rescue mission.
“Nigeria will not surrender its democracy without a fight.” https://tribuneonlineng.com/2027-i-will-step-down-for-no-one-atiku-vows/
