PoliticsAmerican Pessimism Soars by ryloy(op): 9:21pm On Nov 02, 2025
“In a bitterly divided country, pessimism and cynicism reign supreme: Two-thirds of Americans say it is at least probably true that the government often deliberately lies to the people. That distrust cuts across partisan lines: Strong majorities of Donald Trump voters (64 percent) and Kamala Harris voters (70 percent) agree. Nearly half of Americans, 49 percent, say that the best times of the country are behind them, according to the Politico Poll.

PoliticsPDP State Chairmen Forum Cries Out, Says APC Is Intimidating Their Governors by ryloy(op): 10:40am On Oct 15, 2025
PDP State Chairmen Forum cries out, says APC is intimidating their governors, senators, and members of the National and State Assemblies into defecting.

In a statement by Dr. Tony Aziegbemi (Chairman) and Sir Edward Percy Masha (Secretary), they criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC) saying the party has been engaging in undemocratic, desperate, and systematic actions aimed at intimidating, harassing, and coercing PDP leaders, including governors, senators, and members of the National and State Assemblies.

The statement reads: “The Forum of State Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held a crucial meeting on Monday, October 14, 2025, at the PDP FCT Secretariat, Abuja, under the chairmanship of Sir Edward Percy Masha, Acting Secretary of the Forum.

“The meeting deliberated extensively on issues affecting the unity and stability of the party, reviewed preparations for the forthcoming National Elective Convention slated for November 15–16, 2025, and assessed the state of the opposition across the federation.

“After robust discussions, the forum issued the following resolutions:

“Condemnation of APC’s Undemocratic Practices. The Forum strongly condemned the All Progressives Congress (APC) for its undemocratic, desperate, and systematic efforts to intimidate, harass, and coerce PDP leaders—including governors, senators, and members of the National and State Assemblies—into defecting.

“The Forum described these acts as an assault on democracy, warning that the ruling party’s conduct is a dangerous step toward establishing a de facto one-party state, which Nigerians must collectively resist.

“Action Against Sabotage and Indiscipline. The Forum expressed grave concern over the activities of certain individuals within the PDP who, allegedly acting in concert with external interests linked to the APC, have been working to derail the party’s National Convention.

“Specifically, the Forum condemned the actions of Hon. Austine Nwachukwu (Imo State) and Hon. Amah Abraham Nnana (Abia State), who recently sought a court injunction to halt the convention. Their actions were unanimously described as a betrayal of the party’s unity and collective resolve.

“Consequently, the forum resolved to suspend both members from the body and appointed Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, Chairman of the Edo State PDP, as the new Chairman of the PDP State Chairmen Forum.“

Makinde to PDP members: Don’t despair over defections — we’ll put this party back on track

Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo, has advised members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) not to despair over defections recorded in the party.

Recently, several prominent members of the opposition party, including governors and lawmakers, have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the African Democratic Party (ADC).

PoliticsShell Invests $2billion In Nigeria Offshore Gas Development by ryloy(op): 12:13pm On Oct 14, 2025
London - Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCo), a subsidiary of Shell plc, together with Sunlink Energies and Resources Limited, have taken a final investment decision (FID) on the HI gas project offshore Nigeria.

When completed, the project will supply 350 million standard cubic feet (approximately 60 thousand barrels of oil equivalent) of gas per day at peak production to Nigeria LNG (NLNG; Shell interest 25.6%), which produces and exports liquefied natural gas (LNG) to global markets. Production is expected to begin before the end of this decade.

“Following recent investment decisions related to the Bonga deep-water development, today’s announcement demonstrates our continued commitment to Nigeria’s energy sector, with a focus on Deepwater and Integrated Gas,” said Peter Costello, Shell’s Upstream President. “This Upstream project will help Shell grow our leading Integrated Gas portfolio, while supporting Nigeria’s plans to become a more significant player in the global LNG market.”

The increase in feedstock to NLNG, via the Train 7 project that aims to expand the Bonny Island terminal’s production capacity, is in line with Shell’s plans to grow its global LNG volumes by an average of 4-5% per year until 2030. It will also bolster NLNG’s contribution to Nigeria's national economic development goals, including jobs in construction and operations.

The HI field was discovered in 1985 and lies in 100m of water depth around 50km from the shore. The current estimated recoverable resource volumes of the HI project are approximately 285 mmboe (million barrels of oil equivalent).
