The expansion drive, which is part of the backward integration plan, is meant to enhance value addition and local content. Group General Manager of the company, Hikmat Thapa, made this known during a facility tour of Ikeja plant by Lagos State Commissioner of Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, Mrs. Olayinka Oladunjoye. He said having done with phase one of the project, the company has embarked on the phase two which has to do with adding of the facility for cab welding, painting & trimming. Thapa stated that the third phase of the project expansion would be to add the facility that would be used to fabricate, paint & assemble different types of trailer bodies, load bodies with dual & triple axles, tipper bodies & tankers and so on. He explained that Dangote Sinotruck has installed capacity to assemble and produce 15 –16 trucks per shift or 10,000 trucks annually and will create over 3000 different jobs across Nigeria. He said: ”The company has the plan to have welding & painting shops to fabricate & paint truck cabin & Trailers of different type so as to enhance local content of Completely Knocked Down (CKD) operation of commercial vehicle Manufacturing, “In the next one year, we have on our agenda to assemble and fabricate Truck Cabins, different type of trailers, Tipper bodies and Tankers etc. in our plant to increase value additions up 40 – 60 %” The automobile firm said it hopes to expand sales to all the neighbouring West African states. The United States Institute of Peace (USIP) has predicted that President Muhammadu Buhari will win the 2019 election. The organisation made this known in a report it released on the forthcoming general election saying its report is based on its interactions with Nigerians from different sectors. USIP said though many Nigerians feel that the current administration has not met their expectations, this is not likely to cost the All Progressives Congress (APC) government its hold on power. “Many Nigerians feel their hopes have not been met. Some respondents suggest the electorate is sufficiently disappointed that voter apathy will be greater in 2019 than in 2015, with the unifying narrative of change that helped elect the APC in 2015 much less compelling as a factor in mobilising the electorate, and perceptions that another defeat of the presidential incumbent is less likely to happen in 2019,” the report read. Comparing the 2015 elections to the forthcoming one, the report said there is a greater chance of the occurrence of election violence, listing Adamawa, Anambra, Ekiti, Kaduna, Kano, Lagos, Plateau, Rivers as the eight of 36 states with greater risks of election violence. While it stated that it is up to the combined efforts of political parties, security agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to curb violence in the election, it said the greater work lies with the electoral body. “Important shifts in Nigeria’s political and security context have occurred since the 2015 elections, presenting both evolving, and new, risks to the 2019 elections,” it read. “Of all the state’s institutions, most respondents felt that peaceful elections in 2019 are contingent on the performance of Nigeria’s INEC. “Given the relative success of the 2015 elections, they felt that INEC ought to be able to deliver credible elections again in 2019. They feared, however, that any regression from the level of performance achieved in 2015 could lead to violence because some would view the failings not as a result of incompetence but as deliberate attempts to frustrate the will of the voters. “INEC should at least match the standards it set in 2015, and any regression could set the stage for violence. I dont understand how people will allow emotions and political affiliation to becloud their judements, sense of reasoning, paying attention to details and ability to understand simple english. When you read the content of the reply made by WAEC to the enquiry ; it was so clear what they meant. But mischief makers who cannot read a simple primary school english letter, who cannot differenciate between Certificate and Attestation to Results, who do not know the numeric interpretation of Alphabetical results will continue to disgrace themselves with unintelligent display of loquacious, talkative, garrulous, voluble, over-talkative, gushing, rambling, gossiping, chattery, babbling, blathering, gibbering, big-mouthed, gabby, gassy, talky; raremultiloquent and multiloquous arguements without thinking. WAEC has dutifuly drop them into the dustbin of history with the reply
