Health / What You Should Do When You Have Breast Cancer by rzekman7(m): 12:31pm On Aug 30, 2022
A Consultant Neurosurgeon with Brain and Spine Surgery Consortium (BASS) in Abuja, Dr Biodun Ogungbo, says early detection of breast cancer is treatable.

Ogungbo made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Thursday.

According to him, women breasts are increasingly becoming endangered with cancer which destroys it and sometimes kills the women.

“Surgeons at times remove the breast to save the woman’s life.

”Breast cancer is a condition that can be treated if discovered early and treated with the seriousness it deserves.

“Find it early and treat it expeditiously and save lives,”Ogungbo said.

He said some women ignored the early signs of breast problems like changes in colour, feel, size, and appearance.

Ogungbo added that some women did not take early decisions about pains, lumps in the breast, as well as discharge from the nipple.

“Some women take breast problems to churches, mosques, herbal homes and the traditional medicine man.

“They allow people who have no business with the breast to treat them,” he said.

The consultant said that some women refused breast surgery for some unbelievable reasons, including fear of divorce from their partners.

He, therefore, called for increased the advocacy on breast cancer awareness and treatment.

He advised women to examine their breasts regularly, and if they noticed anything strange, unusual or different, should consult a qualified doctor immediately.

According to Ogungbo, not every doctor is qualified to make decisions about breast diseases, women should therefore ask questions and seek the right help.

“Women should stop seeking help from traditional healers about their breast issues.

“Herbs, rubs, lotions, potions, and holy water cannot treat breast cancer.

“The truth is that cancer kills. Breast cancer treatment is expensive. Therefore, prevention and early referral to specialist centres is critical,” Ogungbo said.

He said that treating the small lump, or early surgery to remove the whole breast might be lifesaving and cost effective.

He said doctors attached artificial breasts that look and feel good, when breast the is removed; which helps the woman maintain her appearance, self-worth, and dignity.

Politics / Why FG Can’t Afford N6trn Fuel Subsidy This Year – Marketers by rzekman7(m): 3:52pm On Aug 28, 2022
Marketers have said the Federal Government cannot afford to spend N6 trillion this year as fuel subsidy in the face of current economic realities.

They said subsidy removal is something that must be done, as there were no more viable options.

Mr. Olumide Adeosun, Chairman, Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria, MOMAN, made the disclosure during a panel session at the just concluded Association of Energy Correspondents of Nigeria (NAEC) Strategic International Conference in Lagos.

Adeosun, who spoke on “Energy Transition, PIA, Petroleum Pricing and the Way Forward for the Downstream Sector”, said removing fuel subsidy is something the federal government must do.

Represented by Mr Clement Isong, Chief Executive Officer, MOMAN, Adeosun also said it would be extremely difficult to “wean Nigerians off” cheap Premium Motor Spirit, also known as petrol.

He said: “It is something that must be done as there are no more viable options.

“We are told that this year the fuel subsidy bill to the Federal Government may be between N5 trillion and N6 trillion. Clearly, Nigeria cannot afford this.

“To wean Nigeria off this subsidy, a lot of investments must be done to sensitise Nigerians in convincing them and finding alternatives.

“We need to begin to remove the subsidy and mitigate the pains Nigerians will feel when petroleum prices begin to manifest their true value.”

On the Petroleum Industry Act, PIA, 2021, Adeosun said marketers believe it is an excellent piece of legislation and are optimistic that the industry was headed in the right direction with the enactment of the act.

“We are now at the point of implementation, which is taking a bit longer than hoped but this is not necessarily a bad thing.

“The President postponed the implementation of free market pricing, which has caused a slowdown with respect to benefits expected from free competitive open market pricing, such as new investments and subsidy removal,” he said.

The MOMAN chairman further said the marketers were also very convinced that gas as energy transition was clearly the way forward.

Recall the decade of gas was declared by the Federal Government in January 2021.

He, however, said the increase in gas prices worldwide and the unavailability of the product had made it a little more difficult in the roll out.

Adeosun said: “The ordinary Nigerian who was meant to transit to gas, not just for cooking but also for powering automobiles and power generation is struggling and because PMS pricing is yet to be fully deregulated.”

“It creates an aberration and additional challenge for the adoption of gas, as most people are still dependent on cheap PMS for their cars and generators.

“Energy correspondents need to share as much information as possible with the market and public with respect to cost prices, quality, product specifications, customer service and pump prices.

“That is the best regulation you can ask for,” Adeosun said.

The incident happened on Sunday.

Jobs/Vacancies / No Jobs In Government Anymore, Buhari Tells Youths by rzekman7(m): 9:54am On Jul 14, 2022
The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Wednesday, urged youths to acquire knowledge not towards getting government jobs as there are no “jobs in government anymore.”

He also urged youths to acquaint themselves with history to avoid making the same mistakes of the past.

According to a statement signed on Wednesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, Buhari said this when he paid a Sallah homage visit to the Emir of Daura, Faruk Faruk, at his Palace.

The statement is titled ‘Train, educate your children on right values, the world is changing, President Buhari tells Nigerians.’

He implored parents to inculcate right values in children, including deep fear of God, respect for constituted authorities and living a purposeful life through continuous education.

“We should ensure the children get proper education. The knowledge they acquire should not be towards getting government jobs.

“We don’t have jobs in government anymore. With technology, governments are becoming smaller, nimble and efficient.

“Emphasis should now be on skills acquisition and competence in creation and deployment of technology. During the COVID-19, we asked all level 12 downwards to stay at home, and surprisingly, the systems worked effectively,” the President said.

He also noted that the younger children should be guided and taught history, as they would find it hard to be patriotic, responsible and respectful, without a thorough understanding of their backgrounds.

“Whoever does not have a good sense of history will easily make mistakes,” he said.

President Buhari told the Emir of Daura, Dr Faruk Faruk, that he will be more regular in visits, preparatory to the handing over in May, 2023, adding that the prolonged absence was due to the demands of his office.

“This is the longest I have been away from home. In fact, the Emir took to the court of public opinion at the prayer ground, when he openly told everyone that I had not visited Daura for close to a year,” he said.

He urged all Nigerians to make sacrifices to move the country forward, especially the public servants, calling for more selflessness and inclusion.

“In the end, it is only God that can reward your efforts, not man,” Buhari noted.
Politics / Why Atiku Shouldn’t Be Nigeria’s President -lawyer by rzekman7(m): 8:02pm On Jul 13, 2022
A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Ebun Adegboruwa, has warned Nigerians against electing former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, as the president of Nigeria in 2023.

He made this known in a statement made available to The PUNCH on Wednesday.

The lawyer accused Atiku of being desperate, saying that “PDP cannot be trusted with Nigeria’s constitution”.

He also accused the PDP of flouting its rotation principle with Atiku’s emergence.

The PUNCH had reported that on May 27, Abubakar won the PDP presidential ticket for 2023 general elections, after polling 371 out of the 767 accredited votes to defeat his closest rival, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers who polled 237 votes.

Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, came a distant third with 70 votes. While former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim, scored 14 votes, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi got 20 votes, while Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom scored 38 votes.

Dele Momodu and Ayo Fayose, Charles Ugwu, and Chikwendu Kalu scored zero votes each, while Tarella Diana and Sam Ohuabunwa each received one vote each.

While highlighting the “dangers of Atiku’s presidency”, Adegboruwa said, “Undue and unbridled desperation for power lead to ineffectiveness. This has been the case with Buhari and so it shall be with Atiku, who has lusted for power beyond human understanding.

“I met some people in the prison, led by one Dada, who were planning on how to escape before I got there. So they co-opted me into the plans and it was successful.

“We escaped through the toilet and it took us some days, as we always filled the toilet with water to weaken the place.

“There was an Hausa guy, who understands the technique, and eventually we succeeded in escaping from the prison.

Politics / Bad Fuel: Buhari, Reps Talk Tough, Say Heads Must Roll by rzekman7(m): 9:43pm On Jul 02, 2022
President Muhammadu Buhari and the House of Representatives talked tough yesterday over the bad fuel imported in to the country, saying those behind it must be held accountable.

In fact, the House at its plenary, said heads must roll, if the situation was to be averted in future.

The President and lawmakers’ positions came on a day marketers distanced themselves from controversies around who brought the bad fuel into the country.

It will be recalled that the Nigeria National Petroleum Company, NNPA, Limited had late Wednesday night, listed four marketers as those responsible for bringing in the bad fuel.

This is even as Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, was shielding its leaders behind the importation of the product.

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, said in a statement yesterday that President Buhari ordered that producers and providers of the bad product be held accountable for sub-standard services.

He said the President’s order came on the heels of outcry over importation of adulterated fuel that had caused damages to car engines.

According to him, the President also gave “directives to relevant government agencies to take every step, in line with the laws of the country, to ensure the respect and protection of consumers against market abuses and social injustices.”

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi has condemned the decision of one his support groups to include his pictures on Muslim prayer mats.

Reacting to the viral photo, many, especially the Muslim faithfuls sees it as mocking their faith.

A former presidential aide to ex-president, Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, described it as a sad development.

Omokri words: “This is why I say Christians should compulsorily study IRK (Islamic Religious Knowledge) and Muslims should do same with CRK (Christian Religious Knowledge). I have read the Quran. This is wrong. Islam does not tolerate images of humans or animals in mosques.

“Tinubu tried it in Mecca and the Saudis arrested his campaigners!. Islam does not tolerate images of humans in mosques or on prayer mats. How much more an image of a politician. This is sad.

“And you cannot even counsel these people. They feel they know more than those counselling them. You talk one, they talk one hundred. Anyway, we are watching”, Omokri claimed.

Sports / Ex-chelsea Star Warns Club Against Signing ‘overrated’ Neymar by rzekman7(m): 7:41pm On Jun 30, 2022
Former Chelsea defender, Jason Cundy has warned the club against signing Brazil international, Neymar, saying the forward is overrated and does not want him near his club.

Thiago Silva had said he would prefer Neymar joins him at Stamford Bridge if he was leaving PSG, but there is still nothing concrete as regards a move away from Paris for the most expensive footballer on the planet.

Neymar has been subject of recent transfer speculation following comments from club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi on the forward’s future.

Al-Khelaifi had admitted during a recent interview with Le Parisien that sweeping changes were coming at the Parc des Princes and didn’t rule out an exit for the 30-year-old.

“Well, you know my thoughts on Neymar, I think he’s overrated,” Cundy said on the Sports Bar.

“Good player, but overrated. It’s all about him. Eden Hazard was a team player.

“Neymar has been linked with Chelsea for a while, I’ve always said I wouldn’t want him near my club. I don’t think he’s the sort of player that Chelsea need.

Sports / Liverpool May Let Salah Leave For £60m (photo) by rzekman7(m): 3:25pm On Jun 27, 2022
LIVERPOOL are considering letting Mo Salah follow Sadio Mane out of the door this summer.

Owners FSG will weigh up a shock sale if they get an offer in the region of £60million.

And LaLiga giants Real Madrid are among the clubs monitoring Salah’s delicate situation.

Mane moved to Bayern Munich for £35m this week as Liverpool cashed in on the Senegal star, who had just one year left on his contract.

The same scenario is beginning to develop with the Reds’ Egyptian hitman, who can walk away for free next summer.

Salah, 30, has been in deadlock with the club for almost a year over his pay demand of £400,000 a week to sign a new deal.

Liverpool would love last season’s 31-goal top scorer to stay — but they will not shatter their wage structure to keep him at Anfield.

Salah earns just under the £240,000 a week paid to top earner Virgil van Dijk and claims he does not want “crazy” money to stay.

Politics / IPOB Declares Attack On Ondo Catholic Church Worshippers Unacceptable by rzekman7(m): 3:18pm On Jun 08, 2022
THE Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, yesterday, declared as unacceptable, the attack by terrorists of St Francis Catholic Church Owo, Ondo State, describing it as sacrilegious and act that the present government will pretend to condemn.

IPOB also advised Christians to stop depending on the Federal Government of Nigeria for the security of lives and property, but should take their destiny in their hands, saying that the current regime in Nigeria has only one interest, which it said is defending and protecting the Fulani interest.

A statement by IPOB’ Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, entitled, “Fulani terrorists attack on Christians in Nigeria unacceptable” warned that unless Christians take drastic measures against incessant attacks against their faithful, the attackers will not stop.

The pro-Biafra group said it is becoming an unacceptable affront and its consequences will be devastating for the Christians to be at the receiving end over Fulani’s attacks, while the Federal Government pay lip service towards condemning it.

IPOB lashed the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, for being vocal to accusing IPOB of offences it did not commit while becoming dumb and powerless where it should be vocal and show strength, urging it to seek the help of the pro-Biafra groups to protect its members during church worships.

Politics / 2023 Is Your Year Of Judgment, Atiku Tells APC by rzekman7(m): 11:55am On Jun 07, 2022
The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party and former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has told the ruling All Progressives Congress that its judgment year is the 2023 year of elections.

Atiku said the ruling APC had lost the moral decency to empathise with victims of terrorist invasion in Owo, Ondo State when the whole country was in a sober mood and could not cancel a dinner with its presidential aspirants on the day of the attack, describing the act as disconcerting.

A statement by a media aide to the PDP presidential candidate, Paul Ibe, gave the indication on Monday.

Atiku said it was unnecessary to say that the so-called primary election was occurring in the background of the reported claim of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), to have the liberty to handpick his successor.

“It is important to stress that the 2023 general election, more than anything else, is a referendum about the scorecard of the APC and Nigerians should not reward their failure with even a day more on the saddle.”

“With the blood of innocent worshippers flowing on the street of the Sunshine State, leaders of the APC are gathered in Abuja, treating themselves to sumptuous dinner in a manner that suggests a lack of empathy for the mood of the nation,” he said.

Politics / What Will Happen If War Start In Nigeria by rzekman7(m): 12:46am On Jun 06, 2022
IF WAR STARTS ! Melloowtv!!

When war starts, first of all, you won't have internet to post or comment.

You won't be able to withdraw your money from the Bank, or even buy and sell.

Shops, market, hospitals, transport, petrol stations, power companies, will all be closed.
You will soon be left in darkness with no food, light or even water.

People will loot, kill, destroy, rape, kidnap and there won't be law enforcement agents to be called upon. The few law enforcement agents will be protecting the politicians and important facilities.

You won't even know where your brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers and children are.

You will soon go hungry and you gradually die without even been hit by a bullet.

Every where will be on fire. All you will hear, will be guns, day in, day out.
It may last for days, weeks, months and even years.

War is not like a film which you watch and it ends after an hour.

We will all end up in the forest.

The UN will do nothing than send you aids, and the powerful will hijack them.

Today, look at Libya, Sudan, Iraq, Syria, Palestine.

Other countries will only be on the internet and be sympathising with us, but we are the ones to suffer it.

You want Biafra, Oduduwa, Niger-Delta Republic and Arewa Republic?

Tell the law makers from your states to move a motion for referendum in the National Assembly to push through a legitimate process. All we need is to have a common voice on what we all collectively desire.

If we continue this Gun games, it will consume all of us, and we will loose everything, including lives.

The person that asked you to carry guns, why is he not leading from the front with his own gun?

To be forewarned is to be forearmed!

I came across this content and i have decided to adopt it as a clear position on the need for everyone to be peaceful. Yes, pursue peace instead of war. I credit whoever wrote it.

Politics / APC To Punish Tinubu Over Utterances Against Buhari by rzekman7(m): 11:15am On Jun 05, 2022
The national leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC has described as unacceptable the outburst of a national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu against President Muhammadu Buhari.

Noting that the apology later offered by Mr Tinubu was not enough, the party said it may punish the presidential aspirant for the outburst.

National Chairman of the APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu disclosed this in an interview on Saturday in Abuja.

On Tinubu, Adamu said; “He went as far as saying how Gen. Muhammadu Buhari went to him, citing instances of even prostrating in tears begging him to endorse him and to support him for the presidency. He claimed Buhari went to him.

“His utterances are very, very insulting. It is very, very unbecoming for a person of that standing to do what he did to the sitting president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the President produced by the votes of the APC. Though he is the president, he belongs to everybody.

“It is amazing how a fellow APC person would make that kind of comment in that kind of circumstances about the president. We take exception to this. It has shown that he does not show any appreciable level of respect for the office of Mr President.

Politics / Ekiti 2022: Monetised Politics Not Good For Election — INEC Chairman by rzekman7(m): 11:38pm On Jun 02, 2022
By Rotimi Ojomoyela, ADO-EKITI

NATIONAL Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, yesterday, described monetised politics as inimical for election, and it’s anti-democratic.

Yakubu assured that every vote of Ekiti electorate will count in the June 18 governorship election in the state, saying the commission will stand by the obligatory mission of ensuring that no extraneous interferences are allowed to affect the credibility of the poll adversely.

The INEC boss said this during an interface with the Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers in respect of the June 18 governorship election in the state.

His words: “I want to appeal to all voters in Ekiti that their votes will count. We would still return to interact with other critical stakeholders on how to have a peaceful election in Ekiti. The atmosphere now for the conduct of the 2022 election is so calm, unlike what we had in 2018.

Plus, his car was towed. I ended up getting into my apartment on my own, bailing him out of jail, and paying to get his car back. Did he ever pay me back? No. Did I learn my lesson? Yes.
