Once they waste time to release name of perpetrator, just know it's not Muslim or a black person.

Next, they'll say he has mental problems and was a troubled person.

RIP to the deceased.. Such an unfair world.

Are you medical?

I thought about it 2 yrs + ago and began considering options. This time lag let me do things at my time..
Then, the non-exam route to registration had some restrictions so I opted against it and took the 7hr long exam. Now most provinces have waived this requirement.

In thesame vein, just before I started, they created skill-based PR draws one of which was for medical professionals which I subsequently knew about, welcomed, and applied for. After 5 yrs on a visa, I wasn't keen going down the work visa pathway again with all its restrictions (as is the case in Aus). So, while prepping for the exam, I applied for PR. Aside from sitting IELTS again (which was straightforward), everything needed was more of a tick-box. I just had to wait as anything regarding migration in Canada takes time.

After the exam, I didn't progress with the registration until I wanted to go. Costs do rack up. When PR was out, it gave me the freedom to decide on a province I want + visit and see things myself, open a bank account e.t.c. I remember narrating earlier how I was wowed by the reception the bank gave me. Including connecting with their account officer for medics. On return we set up a meeting and they discussed what offers they had available and connected me with a mortgage advisor.
So far, I've dillydallied as I have a pretty good set-up in the UK with earnings right at the higher end, but on the other hand, balancing all variables, I see the mid-longterm potential in this move. It's very difficult to get a direct comparison, not because people are hiding stuff but cos Canada is highly flexible. I.e work pattern, responsibilities, earning e.t.c.
Thanks for your response. Yes @ medical. Your move was so smooth! Love to see it!

We will go to scope in summer cos I'm done with this place especially with the potential to earn more. Most likely work permit because I'm too old for the express route.

Anyhow, from all information, earnings combined with spouse will give me the soft life I've been dreaming of cheesy
Once I wrap up, my family and I are out.
Happy relocation and please keep us updated!

Dr Ikenna, Rest in Peace.

I don't know how terrible, alone and desperate he must have felt to choose to end his life.

I wish he had found someone to talk to, someone who would have helped him. I wish he reached out to someone.

Ikenna you were someone's child, someone's father, brother, friend etc. . The people who love you will be traumatized forever and blame themselves for not being there for you. I'm sure your family would have chosen any other option but death in this violent way.

I don't know why divorces can't be amiable. If you don't want to do again, separate in peace. If it's getting toxic, leave the person and save your self. Doesn't the court mandate an amount from current earnings? I know how hard it is to hand over your hard earned cash or life savings but where there is life, there's a way. Why die over something you can make more of,money can always be made.A very young guy at that. The story here is not adding up cos why the loss of license? How will he pay 15k if he doesn't have license?

I feel bad for the children who will grow up to live with knowing their father took his life, the scars will haunt them forever. They are the victims here, they didn't choose to be born and now will be forced to exist in pain.

YOUR LIFE IS PRECIOUS, there is nothing and no one worth taking your life for. You may feel you're at the end of the road but find people to talk to, there's ALWAYS other options.

Random question for those who have been in Canada for years.

If money wasn't an issue, what parts of Canada would you choose to live?

I'm looking at proximity to excellent secondary schools both public and private? - Topmost priority
Low /No crime
Leafy ish
Jobs fairly available ( not an issue)
Decent levels of diversity.
Accessible transport.

I have always prioritised the area I live in above everything.. In my experience, the leafier an area is, the higher the school standards and that for me is extremely important if you have school age kids. I don't know if it's the same in Canada.

The drugs, violence , humiliation,so toxic. I hope she takes this opportunity to find herself.

I wish her peace.

Alot has been said about AI and how it'd render many jobless. I absolutely agree its revolutionary however history has shown us we tend to overestimate the impact of a new tech advancement in the short-term (leading to market frenzies) but underestimate its longterm effects. Same story led to the internet boom of 2000. Many people made postulations in 1998 of how the internet wuld render postal workers useless e.t.c. While certain changes took place, we still have postmen today. Very few would have envisaged how large Internet based companies would grow, or jobs and future tech they'd create and even AI we have tethered to it today. Another good example is electricity, the printing press even crypt0 - brilliant tech, early hype but still yet to find a widely accepted everyday use case (yes, I'm 'invested')

I work with lots of AI models and have found them to be mind-blowing at times. Healthcare is heavily targeted with AI as funding is government backed, services need to cater to millions and our systems move slowly. So as a tech coy, once you get some buy-in you're almost sure you have lifetime customers. I use an AI scribe that helps write up my notes, write referrals e.t.c. Its good- can it replace a practice secretary? Not yet but time would tell. Some have said it might replace healthcare professionals- again, time would tell. I have recently used AI to analyse a 30 page contract I'm previewing. The intriguing thing about AI is that the version used today is likely to be the least advanced version one would ever use. All said, I think it'd be a feature to enable us improve productivity as a stop gap for our declining demography. Only downside, is that it can't consume- it may need electricity and a few chips but its not getting groceries, eating out, going to dinner e.t.c. It can't produce the demand capitalism feeds off.

With AI, I'm taking it a step at a time, avoiding the excess hype but being abrest with it.
Please which Ai scribe do you use for letters?

I could not also do a direct switch to ISA, all positions would have to be liquidated and funds placed in ISA (not a good deal)....

I also have an account with etoro, which would also face the firing squad, at some point ...... 😁

Asked whether the two were still friends, Mr Farage told Sky News: “Of course we’re friends. He just says what he thinks at any moment in time. Look, he said lots of supportive things. He said one thing that wasn’t supportive. I mean, that’s just the way it is.” “ I am confident that whatever has been said we can mend. I really think we can. He said what he said… Of course I want his support, of course I will talk to him in America in a few days time, of course I want to mend any broken fences that might exist. I’m sure we can do it.”
Farage should just call him Daddy. He's literally bending over for money

Palliative Care isn't even funded properly, same as everything in the NHS, but they've skipped that and moved straight to death pathway.Fund palliative care well first so that dying people do so in dignity..

For now it's terminal people given 6 months to live but in reality , there are other conditions where the pain and suffering is so great but death is far.. What then happens?

What of the pain and suffering of people with dementia or the pain and suffering of those with conditions that leave them trapped in their bodies and depending on others for round the clock care?

How about people with mental health conditions resistant to all treatment eg treatment resistant depression, what of their own suffering? Is their own suffering less because they have longer than 6 months?

Who is the arbiter of suffering? Who is the person that chooses what suffering is greater than another when people are so different?

It's just a matter of time before court cases come and the law is adjusted again like Canada had to do.
I don't envy those that have to make these decisions.

Illegal immigrants have really suffered O, they're blamed for everything including lack of GP
appointments.

Everyone of us are a strain on services ,if you have children you've also added to the burden. This is because there are simply not enough doctors to go round even minus the illegal ones. Nawa o.

Una just make it sound like they wake up, dust their yansh ,plaster illegal on their foreheads and rock up to GP surgeries or A&E, when in actual fact, they usually would avoid contact with health professionals except at crisis point.

The A&E, GP, doctors issue is very complex.

There are not enough GPs, the ones there are running to other destinations due to lack of government investment ,poor work life balance , poor pay, and erosion of the medical profession.

The government has chosen not to invest in training doctors, rather, they've channeled money into PA who will provide cheaper labour.

Na only the GP appointment one consain me so I'm sticking to my lane

Please if you have children always push yourself extra to look at accommodation in very good areas, most times you will be surrounded by people who have a lot to lose. They won't have time to be carrying bottle on the street even if they share same sentiment.

Nowhere is 100% safe but some places are riskier than others. Avoid deprived areas if you can cos katakata usually starts from there.

For some reason, we tend to not give serious thoughts about areas to live in, thinking that everywhere is equal, it really isn't so. I guess coming from Naija it feels like anything is manageable especially when considering funds but
Some places are notorious for gangs, knife attacks, drugs, alcohol , social estates etc

I'm just saying this as an extra just in case.

I hope we all stay safe and alert.

When Labour took over power from the Conservatives in 1997, NHS waiting lists were at an all time high then, and they came down significantly under Labour. There's good reason to be hopeful that the same will happen again.
I think the landscape has changed a bit, there's not enough doctors to push down that waiting list eg perform surgeries, read scans, run clinics etc. Plus very low morale and low pay amongst clinicians who are also leaving.

The Junior doctors are the backbone of the NHS, they are not paid on strike days but will still strike until conditions are more decent. Unfortunately, for every strike, the backlog increases. Hence the physician associates who still have to go back to the very few doctors.

I'll try to be hopeful, but I think medicine in the UK is looking bleak which is why doctors are leaving anyway.

It will be interesting to see how labor tackles this.

You've got to give him credit, as at yesterday evening, he had only a 19% chance of chancing retaining his seat. Polls gave it to lib dems.

As a resident in the area, I find him very engaging. He was very involved in many local issues and this is a key reason why he won.

On a national level, he was a quiet performance. He came in a cleaned the mess of Liz Truss without making much noise, while also managing to deliver 2 tax cuts and bring inflation back down to 2% in such a short time.

On the junior doctor thing, the raise requested was deemed too significant - they ask for 35% more on top of increases they got yearly for the last two years. He also mentioned the ripple effect it could have on other groups who agreed to far lower raises as they will also come back to ask for more. May not have been a popular decision but I think this is reasonable.
Well, NHS waitlist is getting longer. A &E wait times?when last did you see your GP? How easy is it to get appointments? Doctors are leaving in numbers and are being replaced by Physician Associates who still can't make decisions without asking the same doctors they're replacing, lol.
Good or bad for us, time will tell.
Just make sure you don't fall ill , lol.

Not because she stole, killed or destroyed anything but because they need her to be scapegoat?

How many Omoluabis will sit and accept hate and national press negativity daily, i mean DAILY with said negative news making the round in the world on print, tv and social media? In a huge forum, there will naturally be people who will interpret"rent money is dead money" as " you're not good enough, you're not doing well, look at your mates".Then another group of people who would view this as a challenge to hustle harder. Some people get ginger from hearing of others earning hundreds of thousands and millions, the other set will see this as boasting.

I remember some uproar when people were challenged to view care work as a stop gap and move quickly into better things.

Talking about lofty ambitions can be triggering for a few members, they won't take it well and see it as an indictment of their current level conveniently forgetting that nothing is static, you can do better, you can start small and move on to better things.

All fingers are not equal and will never be, if you're the thumb or little finger, it's okay if you're happy there. If you're the middle finger, that's great. I prefer reading about people doing amazing things and earning more than me, listening to ideas etc.

For the people who are rich or about to be rich, maybe put disclaimer and be more sensitive to the people struggling?
Different strokes for different folks.
