pendo89: Babes, it took the security forces 20 MINUTES to get there. This is not in the desert or in the safari. This in the middle of the capital. In a country on terrorism red alert. That is pathetic! But my criticism by some is just using your mouth drive motor. |

Happywoman: No, you did not hit home. You just did not make sense. You ask me a question thinking I would get stuck but when I used just pure common sense to tell you what should happen next, you came up with you beer parlour arguments. Now can you hit home with something that meets the threshold of sensible? |

Beey: I get what you mean, but perfection in such a situation is hard to attain when there are a million thoughts running through one's mind. The fact that he put his life at risk is more important than what he should have done & didn't do or what he wasn't supposed to do & he did.The fact that he went in to save lives is much more important, the rest are secondary. Correction: this is not about perfection. This is about being good. Good training gets your brain to handle the million thoughts in your mind. This why it shows these people are not trained. He put is life at risk is good, but it takes just a little sense and hardly no extra cost to be a million times better. Such failure to be a million times better is repeatedly exemplified by Africa operators. No wonder all Nigerian airways ALWAYS fail! GH PATRIOT: I don't know how Indians handled theirs. But what is your point? If Indians are hopeless it justifies Africans to be hopeless? |

Happywoman: I am not a security expert. But my common sense would tell me that (and I am writing this inchoately): - First get a master plan of the building. - Sweep it room by room, floor by floor and even all the ventilation systems to see if there is anyone hiding there or injured to rescue. And to find where the terrorists are. - Once you know the locations in the building the terrorists are, secure it and cordon it with your armed officers without engaging in a fight. - Then start negotiating but be ready to go in if you hear one shot. - Negotiators can possibly help you get at least any kid hostage out. |

Jakumo: Ergbe! Stand corrected. Nothing to be ashamed about it, instead of trying to disparage. There is nothing wrong with being corrected sometimes. |

papi365: Y are u blaming them? which afro country is developmed? Well, it is not rocket science to be developed in these simple security tactics. But saying that is apparently mere "pontification". |

Beey: The Somali guy in the pictures,he's Abdul Hajji the son of former Kenya's defense minister Yussuf Hajji He's said to have saved many lives in yesterday's attack at the westgate mall. Good for him. Brilliant he is quite brave. I don't know if this makes him a civilian or a security official. But if he is a security official, I would expect him to have been provided with an identification like a police vest or badge in his car. It costs peanuts. If I was the Prof from Ghana that died or a tourist from France, I would not know which Minister's son he is. All he looks like is Al-Shabaab with a gun and I might be tempted to run from him and meet the real Al-Shabaab in my fright. If he is a security official, I would expect him to put his gun in a set and ready position and move carefully to the cover of the toddler and her family and escort them to full safety. Not tell the toddler to take a dash like if she is the main character of "Rambo 7: the young ones" and risk getting shot. But, I apologise, that is just my pontification. |

emmatok: I am not blaming them for terrorist attacking them. That is what terrorism normally is: "unexpected". I am blaming them for their unplanned and unprofessional response. Apparently such criticism of the repeated sub-standard and failure of how Africans do things is pontification. But I am happy to be called "Pontiff"! Africans love to celebrate their mediocrity even when with the same resources employed they could be reasonably good. |

Litmus: Where? In Idi-Araba training centre or Alaba market? sweetcheecks: Where did I laugh at people dying's short-coming? Are you using your brain? I laugh at those that are supposedly trained to protect them. Beey: yes he's of Somali descent but looks like he's working with the law enforcement.I don't think Alshabaab crazies would be divided, saving lives instead of killing as their mission states.Clearly he saved the woman & the baby as seen on the pictures. I know he is working with law enforcement but how can you tell the difference in an instance? He did not save anybody. He told them to walk this way. If there was a terrorist in that area and saw that toddler running and fired, there would be nothing the quack can do. The height of irresponsibility. But in Africa, such makes you a STAR! |

Jakumo: What I would expect from you is to back-up your argument that they need to raised their arms 90 degrees up with evidence. Not ridicule the evidence I brought you via youtube. What are you trying to say? You would prefer I merely state it than provide video as evidence? Don't be ridiculous, my friend. Your argument was not reasoned and did not show evidence of knowledge of security operations. If you make an assertion and you are corrected. Stand corrected! You aint flustering nobody. If advocating that Africa has to always try and be the best in everything they do is pontification, please let me be "Ponfiff". I don't stand for sub-standard. I stand for always trying to be the best you can be within the resources limitation on you. That to you is pontification, to me it is way of life. If Africa takes that as a way of life, I can guarantee you that the loss of life in these kind of situation would be limited. It costs peanuts to give this training in the current world of free information we live in. It is a joke you give excuses for a country that is under red-alert not to plan for situations like this. Africa needs better brains to do better. Next time if you don't have a point, stand corrected. |
