@ Evil Brain and doctowus, I have noted your points! All ideas welcome. It is an open public debate, so feel free to contribute. For any avoidance of doubts, it will be a profit- making facility. I am trying to use the USA business health care model and tailored it to the Nigerian environment. I have worked in Nigerian hospitals, but that was a long time ago (late 1990s). The world has changed and technology can actually help reduce cost and make services more affordable. |
It is going to be run like a business after thorough needs assessment and evaluation. The business model of health care service will ensure that the facility can continue to survive financially and meet the needs and demands of Nigerians, and at the same time create employment. It is a big vision. Even if it will be established to make profit, but at an affordable level and possibly expand to rural areas. |
Good points! What are the challenges and opportunities in setting up Emergency care services including life saving surgeries in rural Vs urban areas of the country? How about cultural belief systems and how they influence healthy choices and use of health care services? |
@ doctokwus, Thanks for your input! Please keep adding more info. Let's debate all the pros and cons in every possible scenarios we can imagine! All suggestions welcome! |
I am researching on the feasibility of establishing a Healthcare center in Nigeria. I am leaning towards an out-patient facility that will provide: Imaging / Radiological services, such as CT scan, MRI, Bone scan, X-rays, etc. Laboratory services, Physical Therapy/ Physiotherapy and Medical Rehabilitation services (stroke, brain/ spinal cord injuries and orthopedic injuries rehabilitation, and basic Nursing services). Pharmacy service may be included as well. What are the pros and cons of an out-patient facility in Nigeria? How many centers have MRI, CT scan and other imaging services? What are the needs in various communities/ cities, and the country in general? What are the challenges, govt regulations, and the current operating climate? |

Just like I posted previously, let Spyder include the standards of the finishings in the hostels investment analysis. That will give everyone some sort of understanding before anyone takes the "plunge." If the hostel is built more like a hotel will it attract the right kind of students? |

Fixing Housing Deficit to Cost N60trn’ ![]() By James Emejo 12 Aug 2011 Views: 2,171 Font Size: a / A Ms Ama Pepple , Minister of Housing and Urban Development Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Ms Ama Pepple, has said government would require a minimum of N60 trillion to provide 17 million new housing units to address the current deficit in the sector. She said an estimated 80 per cent of Nigerians live in indecent informal housing structures with no basic amenities and in deplorable conditions. But in a move to bring succour to the housing sector, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) said it was proposing a 5-cardinal reform agenda including a possible introduction of a National Housing/Mortgage Intervention Fund. Pepple said Thursday in Abuja at the opening of the Stakeholders' Roundtable on "Expanding Housing and Mortgage Finance in Nigeria", organised by the CBN, that the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan was bent on addressing the challenge through the provision of affordable housing to millions of Nigerians. He said there would be a sustained intervention in the housing sector over the next four years with a view to increasing the housing stock and cut the deficit in sustainable and decent homes. The minister said key initiatives such as the reviews of the National Housing Policy, National Building Code as well as the targeting of low income earners in delivery of affordable houses-are all aimed at easing the present conditions in the sector. Deputy Governor, Financial System Stability (FSS) of CBN, Mr. Kingsley Moghalu, who put the current housing demand at 14 million housing units resulting to a N49 trillion funding deficit, said there is a proposal to develop appropriate legal framework and accelerated develop and production of affordable houses. He said the CBN was also working for the establishment of a Mortgage Refinance/Liquidity Company (MRC) as well as the development of institutional framework. The CBN Deputy Governor stated that the proposed reform agenda would seek to strategically reposition and strengthen the primary mortgage banks as vehicles for housing delivery and ownership in the country. According to him, the initiative would also promote a robust mortgage finance system through market support initiatives to unlock home equity in both urban and rural areas to finance Micro-Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME). What is your processing price for Ajah area? |
Try Awolowo Road by Oba Akran Avenue, Ikeja, and Yaba Market area. |
@ Fhemmmy, I think you are right. Yes, there are a lot of good opportunities in the growing number of universities in the country. Let's wait for Spyder's analysis and hopefully we can use the information and extrapolate to other cities. I really like to continue to invest in Lagos, but with the loaded hussles to get a suitable land, the documentation wahala, and the unpredictable State govt's impending housing laws, it is good to start looking at other viable areas in Nigeria. I want to focus on the Southern part of the country for now. |
