Havilah93: The super falconets of Nigeria face the English team in the final group C match.

Having drawn the first match against Mexico 1-1, the falconets came out strong against South Korea in the second match, winning 2-1 in a close encounter.

Dike, who was starting her first match of the tournament after coming on as substitute in the opener against Mexico, set the tone for the Super Falconets, who were eager to jump to the top of Group C after England and Mexico had shared the spoils earlier in the day in a 1-1 draw.

Nigeria took a two-goal lead ten minutes later through Chinwendu Ihezuo. Ugo Njoku's cross from the right wing found Ihezuo who controlled the ball before unleashing a strong shot past Minyeong.

Nigeria top the group with 4 points, closely followed by Mexico and England on 2 points.

Nigeria now need just a point to guarantee a place in the last eight of the tournament.

Health / Re: Cholera Outbreak : 74 Confirmed Dead by saifuhot: 12:05pm On Oct 29, 2013
dridowu: The death toll from the current cholera outbreak in some parts of the country has been put at 74.
According to the Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, about 373 Nigerians have been affected.
Plateau, Sokoto, Zamfara and Lagos States had recorded cases of cholera outbreak in the last one week.
Zamfara State has recorded 1,117 cases with official confirmation of deaths in two weeks.
The minister, who was disturbed by the outbreak urged Nigerians to take the issue of sanitation very seriously.
Chukwu spoke on Monday during the “2013 Physicians Week” with the theme: “Federalism and Nigeria’s Healthcare system-An appraisal of the Primary and Secondary healthcare systems.”
The programme was organized by the Nigerian Medical Association.
He said, “As at yesterday (Sunday), 373 Nigerians have been recorded having suffered cholera in this current outbreak out of which we have lost 74. We still got a report just yesterday (Sunday) that few of the cases can do with antibiotic.
“Each Nigerian must commit to certain things; can we stop going into the bush to defecate? Open defecation is not neglected but every Nigerian must know that it is unhealthy. Even market people are paying N5:00 to use toilets in the market place and that is what they do outside this country.
“My role as the Minister of Health is limited; as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I will continue to advocate that every sector keys into what each sector should do and individuals should preach to every Nigerian to do proper things in terms of sanitation.”
He pointed that, what was important is that Nigerians must do everything to stop open defecation and have access to clean water.

Nairaland / General / Re: Is Destiny Predetermined? by saifuhot: 10:15pm On Oct 26, 2013
eluquenson: Is every event of our lives predetermined?

For the past several months I’ve been trying to understand and determine if we are all living scripted lives that we cannot change or if we have free will and the ability to completely change our fates. It didn’t seem to me that both could be right at the same time. Finally I just asked my guides and they explained it to me. Here is how they explained it.

Before we are born, our higher self gets together with other, wiser, spirits to work out a plan for our next incarnation that includes major life events such as who are parents will be, who our siblings will be (if any), our marriage partner, kids, career, and many other events too numerous to list.

I don't remember how the debate ended, I think that Bible Study just ended before any conclusion was made on either side.

Now, recently, I've been thinking about this subject again, but from a different way. The question that makes me question whether fates are predetermined or not is what is different now. Is God omniscience because he determined it all beforehand, or because he understands us all so much that he knows what decisions we'll make?

So, pretty much, I'm looking for other views on the subject on how destiny comes about. I'm especially interested in the views of other religions (particularly Islam, eckankar, so hopefully Solar will stop by. lol), along with many denominations of Christianity.

SO , IS DESTINY PER-DETERMINED OR ME-DETERMINED or is it considered it to be a bit of both?
1st of all i standard for ISLAM. Yes its. FLASH ME 07065495260. Thanj you

johntousin: Eighty three-year old Ben Nwabueze has described his nomination to the 13-member national conference committee by President Goodluck Jonathan as inappropriate, stating that the appointment should be for a younger and healthier person.

“It is an appointment for a younger person, not for an old man of 83 years afflicted by ill-health,” the elder statesman said in a statement signed by him and distributed on Thursday.

According to him, the President should have requested the Patriots to nominate someone to the committee rather than asking him who is battling with a terminal illness at a very old age to come be part of the committee.

Prof. Nwabueze who leads the Patriots-a socio-political association of elderly Nigerians-claimed that the group got a hint of the planned conference during a meeting with President Jonathan in July and expected him to ask the group for someone to be on the committee.

Expressing his displeasure with the nomination, the octogenarian said “I never expected to be appointed............

Politics / Re: UK To Repatriate 267 Nigerian Prisoners by saifuhot: 11:39pm On Oct 16, 2013
Firefire: Hundreds of Nigerian criminals will be sent home to serve out prison sentences under a deal set to be struck by ministers within weeks.

Talks are continuing into reaching a compulsory prisoner transfer agreement, which could see more than half of the 534 criminals from Nigeria currently in UK jails repatriated.

UK Prisons Minister, Jeremy Wright, told MailOnline how ‘more foreign prisoners must serve their sentences in their own countries.’

Ministers have been ordered to step up efforts to end the scandal of more than one in eight prisoners being from overseas.

British Prime Minister, David Cameron vowed to end the practice of the British taxpayer picking up the bill for criminals with no business in the UK.

The Prime Minister said in 2010 that he would ‘personally intervene’ to send more foreign criminals home.

Britain has even made clear it would pay to build new prisons in countries like Nigeria to speed up the process of sending foreign criminals home. Up to £1m has been promised to upgrade Nigerian jails, including a new wing at Kirikiri Prison in Lagos.

But to date little progress has been made. When the coalition was formed there were 11,135 foreign prisoners in UK jails, and this figure has fallen by just three per cent since to 10,786.

Each felon costs an average of around £40,000 a year to keep inside.

Last week it was announced that notorious Liberian warlord Charles Taylor is to serve his 50-year sentence for war crimes in the UK.

A prisoner-transfer agreement was struck with Albania earlier this year to ‘free up space in prisons here and reduce the cost to the British taxpayer’.

It was the first major bilateral prisoner transfer agreement with a country outside the European Union.

There were around 250 Albanians in UK jails in June this year.

But securing an agreement with Nigeria would be seen as a much more significant breakthrough.

Latest figures show there were 534 Nigerian nationals in British jails, 485 men and 49 women.

Nigerians account for one in 20 of all foreign prisoners, putting the country fifth in the league table of nations whose citizens have been jailed in the UK.

Justice Minister Mr. Wright said, “I am clear that more foreign prisoners must serve their sentences in their own countries.

“That is why we are currently working with the Nigerian Government on a compulsory prisoner transfer agreement to increase the number of prisoners who are transferred.

“Legislation allowing Nigeria to enter such an arrangement was passed earlier this year by the Nigerian Parliament. We are now working with them on the text of a final agreement.”

Overflowing jails abroad have made it increasingly difficult to deport prisoners to their own country.

It is argued that by paying for building new jails or making existing ones more ‘comfortable’ so they approach British standards, will be repatriated.

In April Mr. Cameron said, “When people are sent to prison in the UK we should do everything we can to make sure that if they’re foreign nationals, they are sent back to their country to serve their sentence in a foreign prison.

“And I’m taking action in Government to say look we have strong relationships with all of the countries where these people come from.

“Many are coming from Jamaica, many from Nigeria, many from other countries in Asia.

“We should be using all of the influence we have to sign prisoner transfer agreements with those countries. Even if necessary frankly helping them to build prisons in their own country so we can send the prisoners home.”
