Good luck to him |
The two VP of Nigeria |
Not surprising that once again it is a Northerner.
Obviously a calculated attempt to perpetuate the
Northernization of Nigeria
The trend of past governments has been to pick
INEC chairmen from another region - and rightly
so, at least to be seen to be transparent and
dismiss any fears of ethnic bias. Buhari's attitude
is a crude, in-your-face northern agenda,

I watched his screening session, and from his speech and my Observations were dis...; 1). Mr Shittu is an Extremist. He only denied BH like every other Muslims ve been doing dat dey re not Muslims. Whereas dey are.. 2). He said in quote " I don't want to talk abt BH because I still ve my family to take care of"... (As if our military dat ve been dying since dis insurgency came alive don't ve families). In a nut shell, it means Mr Shittu knows those behind BH Dats why he feared for his life. Honestly, Nigeria is a lawless country where we tend to ignore d truth as a result of religious and tribal sentiments. Bcuz in Advance countries, dat statement he jokingly uttered "I don't want to talk abt BH cuz I ve my family to take care of" is enough evidence dat he knows those involved which makes him a prime suspect, not qualified to be a Minister and he would ve been investigated.. I will continue to say dis, BH will only be destroyed( wit d help of God) wen this Extremists in/out of government re ready to speak d truth.. |
The foolly of the 8th Senate has been laid bare today by the escort provided for Saraki by 84 Senators of the Federal Repbulic of Nigeria. Now, state functions at the senate have been dashed for the sake of a man whose integrity is being questioned. It is tantamount to saying that the Legislative arm has been grounded because of a man to the detriment of over 170 million Nigerian. Ministerial confirmation which is to set the nation on a working path is been stopped because Saraki is being questioned for corruption. Is there no Senate President? Is the senate about Saraki or Nigerians? Come on, the Senate is a huge joke! How do hold hostage a nation because of a man? The senate is actually out to sabotage the anti-corruption campaign - in reality. The Senate is the conglomaration of cabals who have held us hostage social-politically as well economically. |

An Osun State High court sitting in Osogbo has granted an injunction restraining the Ife kingmakers and Osun State governor, Rauf Aregbesolsa, from accepting any nominations from the Giesi ruling house to occupy the stool of the Ooni of Ife that became vacant, following the death of Oba Okunade Sijuwade in July. The injunction came following a suit filed by the Lafogido ruling house, challenging the selection of the Giesi ruling house by the kingmakers for the nomination of the next ruler of the Ife kingdom. The Ogboru ruling house, which produced the last Ooni, is also contesting the verdict of the kingmakers, claiming the right to produce the next Ooni. PREMIUM TIMES also learnt that although the court injunction was a major factor, the death of the Obalufe of Iremo, Folorunso Omisakin, could be an additional frustration, given that his burial was expected to hold before the announcement of the Ooni. The Obalufe had on September 14 personally announced that the Giesi family would produce the next ruler who would be announced in 42 days. The secretary of the Giesi family, Adelowo Ogunleye, confirmed to PREMIUM TIMES on Monday that the court action had frustrated the process. “It is a fact that the court is what is delaying the announcement of the new Ooni of Ife,” he said. “Until the court strikes out the case, there is nothing we can do, because as a family, we are a law abiding people. “We have done the screening from our own end and submitted the list of the candidates to the kingmakers. “We have 20 male princes and one female which the kingmakers will presented candidates to Ifa to make its choice,” he said. Asked why the candidates were so many, Mr. Ogunleye noted that all the princes in the family were qualified to become the Ooni, but having done the screening, the kingmaker http:///84HXgL0sXL |
A Nigerian journalist, Lawan Adamu, who was detained by the Nigerien authorities in Agadez while on mission to investigate migration of Africans to Europe from the town, was deported to Nigeria on Monday. Mr. Adamu, who is the deputy editor of Daily Trust on Sunday, spent two days at a detention facility where he was subjected to dehumanising conditions. On Sunday, the Executive Director/Editor-in-Chief of Daily Trust, Mannir Dan’Ali, called on the Nigerien authorities to free Mr. Adamu as he made necessary documentations before embarking on the trip. “As an experienced cross border reporter, Lawan Danjuma sought and got the relevant documentation from the Kano Consulate office of the Nigerien embassy after stating his mission to Agadez. “It was the same documentation that he used at different check points including the Nigeria-Niger border post at Kongolom, Katsina state and was only stopped and arrested on reaching Agadez. “We see the arrest as an infringement of his right as an ECOWAS citizen and have since reached the Nigerien authorities to ask for the release of the reporter. We are shocked that more than 24 hours after the arrest, he still is being held and his freedom is being curtailed,” Mr. Dan’Ali said. Also calling on the Niger Republic to free the journalist on Sunday, the president of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, Garba Mohammed, urged the Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to immediately secure his release. It is however unclear whether the Nigerian foreign mission in Niamey intervened in the matter before the journalist’s release. Speaking to PREMIUM TIMES after his deportation to Nigeria on Monday, Mr. Adamu said he was escorted from Agadez to Damagaram – a 9-hour journey – where formalities on his deportation were finalised. “I stayed for about 40 minutes in Damagaram before I was taken to the Kongolan border post of the Nigerian Immigration Service,” he said. He told PREMIUM TIMES that Nigerian immigration officials debriefed him before allowing him to enter Nigeria. Mr. Adamu therefore thanked media organisations, colleagues, Nigerian Guild of Editors, among others for standing by him during the period of his ordeal. http:///MjEL08

Mr Lanre Alege, a Pharmacist at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH), on Sunday called for lifestyle changes to minimise the risk of Benign Prostate Hyperplasia (BPH). Alege made the call in a lecture entitled: “Minimising the Risk of BPH” at the monthly Keep Fit Exercise for members of staff of the UITH held at the Kwara Stadium. According to him, the lifestyle changes include; nutrition, limitation of alcohol intake, exercise, sitting habit, dressing mode and regular sexual intercourse. He described Benign Prostate Hyperplasia (BPH), as a non cancerous growth of the prostate gland. Alege explained that studies in some developed countries had shown that 50 per cent of men in their 60s and about 80 per cent of those in their 80s suffered from Benign Prostate Hyperplasia (BPH). “The prostate gland is a secretary gland in the male reproductive organ which is a disease common in men aged 50 and above,” he stated. According to him, as the prostate gland expands, it squeezes the urethra or causes the muscles around the urethra to contract, making it difficult to urinate. “Frequent urination, especially at night, reduces or weakens the flow of urine, difficulty or hesitation in starting urine or holding urine or feeling of incomplete emptying of the bladder after urination,” he said. “Consumption of red meat everyday triples the chances for prostate disease. Milk intake everyday also doubles the risk while not taking fruits and vegetables multiply the risk. “Men should avoid tight under wear, as it impacts on circulation around the groin and heat up a bit. Regular sex is good for the prostate,” he said. The Acting Head of Department, Nursing Services, Mrs Elizabeth Aina, lauded the management of UITH for sustaining the programme. According to Aina, the importance of exercise in improving the physical, mental, social and emotional build up cannot be over emphasised. The state Director of Sports, Mallam Tunde Kazeem, noted that the attendance was not encouraging and charged UITH Heads of Departments to encourage their staff to always participate in the programme, considering its importance.
