cdoffx: of course you can get into the military as a software engineer, you know the truth is the military does not put graduates who entered thru DSS into combatant formations the last set of graduate to be put in combatant formations were Nzeogwu, Ademoyega them who staged the first Nigerian coup guess you could see one of the key reason.
So most officers thru short service are adjutant(officers who work mostly in office). However if you choose the direct short service combatant and not short service commission you could be a combatant officer
