The price of petrol in Nigeria is still one of the lowest in the world.

The only difference is that we are not subsidizing it for now which is not a bad thing.

The money that would have been used for subsidy is being channeled into infrastructure development

I suppose your were born in 1997 and you are still living under your parents roof.

Inasmuchas there was corruption during Jonathan's leadership, Diezani K. Agama (Diezani K. Alison-Madueke) confidently stated that there were no queues will she was the minister of petroluem; of course there were no queues during Jonathan's leadership.

Presently, the corruption is more than doubled, price of petroluem products have gone higher by over 500%, cost of consumable foods is higher than 700% since then.

This is realy terrible!

Nonsense post.

Titus Sardine price is just a reflection of global trends, not solely Tinubu's doing. Let’s focus on the bigger picture and support our leaders instead of spreading negativity.

What rubbish global trend? Titus price in Nigeria didn't change because of global treand, it changed because the fall of the naira. Everything we import into the country has doubled or tripled in price since balablu.

Would you say the prices of local commodities rose because of global trend as well? A tuber of yam jumped from 1k to 10k, a painter of honey beans jumped from 2.5k to 10k, etc. All increase came from failure to curb terrorism, failure to get the farmers back in their farms, increase in logistics, increase in fuel, etc.

lamboloosta:
So there's this Lady I met on Tinder, she's a mix of Delta & Akwa Ibom so I call her a Cross Breed lol but she was born and raised in Lagos.

She's so pretty and has almost all the qualities I hope to see in a partner.

She speaks Yoruba so well even better than her own Language and I find it so cool because I'm also a Yoruba Guy born and raised in Lagos.

Sometimes she says she's Delta Yoruba lol

We connected so well from Day 1 and we still do up to this moment.

She's a very good cook esp when it comes to all these Calabar Delicacies. Chai me wey like food.

I know Igbo People have most of the best Dishes compared to we Yoruba's but she's a Mixed Breed lol. Delta/Akwa Ibom.

My question is are there people here who got married to other tribes, what your experience like?

Also I used to think Deltans are not Igbo like the Anambra, Enugu & the likes. I used to see Deltans as part of the Edo Benin tribe.

Honestly I'm not a fan of Tribal Bigotry but you know some of our parents are still deluded with the mentality of marrying from one own tribe.

She told me she don't have any issues getting married to a Yoruba Guy, I don't either and even if no one has done that before in my family, I'm proud to be the first provided my parents esp my Mom likes her.

Is there anyone here who's married to a Delta Woman?

What's it like esp with your In-laws and all.?

Are they welcoming and accommodating?

Please I'd appreciate your subtle contribution to this.

No issue if both of you are meant for one another. On another note, I hope you are aware that your children might be allowed to rule Lagos.

Nairalanders,

As I await my night bus to fill up for my journey to Lagos, I am filled with lots of emotions.

A few mins ago, i just got a call that needed me to be in Lagos tomorrow morning for a period of 6 months and it's for good.

However, I left behind my best friends, my twin girls 3years, my first daughter 6 and my son 8 and my wife. Didn't even see them to huddle them, cos they were still in school.

Guys, Tell me whatever you can. Honestly, I am broken. Have never stayed away from family this long ever before.

Thank You all..

This man, lol!

Just don't fall again, like you did in March.

While I grew up at Onitsha, Anambra people use to yab Enugu people - Ndị Enugu, o ji ọkpa añụ tea (Enugu people, the people that use ọkpa (instead of bread) to drink tea. Enugu ọkpa is still the best, nonetheless, I prefer the ones made at Akị na Ụkwa junction. cool

There's a reason I don't use the word okpa,

I say enugu okpa, ikom okpa , if it's not done properly by an igbo woman I don't eat it,

Okpa is wonderful and yeah compared to moi moi I love it.

But nit everyone can prepare okpa or is qualified to.
Anyone who says it's bland has not had the opportunity to eat enugu okpa,

When I first ate okpa in CBQ it was the last time

Moi- moi is great, and there has been a lot improvements.

Enugu ọkpa remains the best ọkpa so far, the journey that moi- moi has been through ọkpa is yet to start.

If both are cooked using the basic ingredients (palm oil, pepper, Maggi seasoning, salt and crayfish) ọkpa wins. But the upgrades that moi- moi has experienced makes it more sumptuous.

I think Enugu folks should find a way to make ọkpa more interesting for non-Igbo folks.

Burst into flames?

I can bet that the vehicle was carrying gallons of fuel, because of the scarcity.

What a horrible way to die!

The only sensible comment so far. Either the vehicle had some gallons of petrol, gas cylinder or some other combustible material, or even a bomb - IED.

If a vehicle self-combusts, it starts from the engine side, also there could be time for escape.

This makes me cringe 😬

When people are informed that embarking on japa to do menial jobs especially when one has achieved some substantial progress in Nigeria is not worth, they do not believe it.

The marriage had been on the rocks for long and the UK lifestyle will simply amplified it.

I pity the three kids, I hope they get good foster care.

Family / Re: Help! My Marriage Is Giving Me Pain. by saintneo(m): 12:42pm On Mar 04
Akpors, how often do you get light?

If you get light daily, then I suggest you buy another drum. A drum is like 150litres to 175litres. If you fill these two drums daily, then you will not have issues. Just try to be smart in pumping water daily.

Do not give yourself much tension. Focus more on solving your problem than worrying about the problem.

I do not know if your believe in God, but I think you need God a a change.

As per wifey, keep calm and handle things like a man. No fighting o!

AkporsMechanical:
I promise to be very brief.
My wife and I live in a three bedroom flat without paying rent, although we only occupy one room since we don't have much property yet. The owner of the house abandoned the house before now and when we had accomodation issue asked us to stay there. We have been here since last year. However, there is no Geepee tank to supply water into the house. We could only pump water into our little drum when there is light. So I always go fetch water from the neighbouring compounds whenever there is no light which have resulted into several insults. My wife has been dragging me that I must buy a Geepee tank.

My salary as a private school teacher is barely enough to feed us talk more of saving to buy a Geepee tank especially in this economic crisis. In the midst of all these, my wife's phone went bad and needed a new one Just this afternoon, my wife started raining insults on me that I am not behaving like a man at all, that I should have settled down fully before thinking of marriage, that I want to make her go hungry. This was because I told her I would cut off some part of my salary to be saving so I can buy curtain for our room, television and save for Geepee tank. She even went ahead to say I am poor and wretched just because I can't afford her a new phone for now.

Since afternoon, I have refused to eat. My problem here is that my parents love my wife and my parents are far from where I reside. And I don't want to report my wife to my parents so it won't bring disrespect later to her in the future. Secondly, as the first born of my parent,I don't know how my parents will take it if I tell them I don't want to marry her again so they don't have b.p. I am really really confused. The little extra money I get from extra tutorial is what I do send to my two siblings in school even though is very little compare to their needs but at least it is something.

I feel like running away but to where? I truly love my wife but she is regretting marrying me. Please what can I do?
Politics / Re: Bwala To President Tinubu: Ban Use Of Dollars For Local And International Trade by saintneo(m): 3:53am On Feb 22
emkz:
These are just temporary measures and are bound to fail. The forex market in Nigeria is like a hydra-headed snake. Cut one head; as you face another head, the first head will grow back. Cut the damn neck! In other words, let the CBN address the root of the problem instead of pretending they don't know.

Since last week, dollars injected into the forex market are mopped up.

Who exactly are those mopping up the forex?

What economic activity is tied to the raid of the forex?

Ribadu claims the activities of speculators are responsible for the hike in dollar rates.

My question to Ribadu is: why are the speculators not afraid of the government?

For many years, bank MDs have been accused of buying forex from CBN and the forex goes into the black market through back channels, for example, there are vulturistic abokis sitting in banking halls trying to buy off dollars from customers.

Who regulates those abokis?

If the $10billion the vice president said would come into the system enters, it would be evacuated by the same speculators which would not solve the problem.

My observation is that CBN has lost complete control of the forex market and are being regulated by the BDCs and population instead of CBN being in control. All over the world, forex trading is heavily regulated by governments through central banks.

What I also observed is that the dollars are mopped up by those who don't need them but are keeping them for a profit. Therefore, let CBN take complete control of the forex market through the following measures:

(1) Deregister all unlicensed BDCs. That market is heavily unregulated and until they are faced squarely by the authorities, the practice of the naira dying will not stop.

(2) Stop selling dollars to commercial banks as it is clear that they have failed in meeting their obligations to customers with the dollars. People who approach the banks for PTA/BTA and school fees are directed to the BDCs. Why do BDCs have dollars and banks don't? Even with banks, some people still approach the CBN to transfer their school fees. Infact, it was found that the banks had $5billion in their vaults. How come no one has been punished when these same banks created artificial scarcity to push people to BDCs?

(3) All banks should be compelled to show a statement of how they used the dollars they received from the CBN from the last two years. At least it would give us some ideas of what disappeared through the black market.

(4) CBN needs to carry out a tsunami on the banking industry. Use some bank MDs known for the forex fraud as examples by dismissing them for breaking the law.

(5) Once all these measures are taken, the CBN must protect all forex coming into the country to ensure the problems we currently have are not iterated.

In summary, CBN needs to take drastic measures to regulate the market.

There are other measures that can be taken to get the dollars from those who have stored them. Whether the CBN would have the will is something else. The Nigerian forex market is like those who pirate music.

Kill the black market for forex.

Great write up! However, recall that Tinubu (APC) and Atiku (PDP) dollarised their primaries and campaigns before the last election. The sudden scarcity of USD kicked off just before presidential primaries of both parties. Recall their delegates received huge USDs to sway their votes; why are these USDs not back in the system?
