History of politics and humanity would attest to the impact of Martin Luther King Jnr who fought with all diligence for the liberation of the black race in America. You would also agree with me that the famous speech, "I have a dream" set a new dimension in the society of that dispensation that has linger till today.

Abia is named Gods Own State due to the prevailing circumstances surrounding its birth. The, then, military administration had planned to expand the horizons of the South Eastern region.

More than 30 years down the lane, we have suffered evil-oriented leadership. Virtually, no leader has demonstrated full capacity and integrity in piloting the affairs of the state. It will unfair to treat our sickness with mere imposition of a consensus candidate from either the ruling party, PDP or the opposition.

Fellow Abian people, shall we fold our hands and waste another 4years of governance? Shall we place our destinies in half-baked, blurred visioned political representatives? Or shall we continually wish that goodies would flow from the bosom of Aladdin lamp? Not at all. Shall we continue to cry for development and technology driven economy when those heralding our affairs are solely for their selfish gains?

Gone are the days of mediocrity. Gone are the days of money politics. Gone are the says of ethnic, religious, or tribal politics. Today's decision will determine our future and the future of our children.

That period recorded unprecedented achievements ranging from sports awareness, civil service restructuring, youth empowerment and security conducive environment. Take note, I am no fan of either political leader or aspirants but a passionate Abian with a quest for progressive change in the state.

Needless to dwell on the insensitive government of Theodore Orji or the brutish and self-centered government of Ikpeazu.

Fellow statesmen and good people of Abia, we have suffered enough. When other indigenes of Anambra, Imo, Enugu and especially Ebonyi proud themselves of capital projects viz airports, world class medical facility, range of accredited higher institutions, prompt payment of pensioners and working staff, women and youth empowerment including support in agricultural produce. Our governor smells of what my Professor in school called, " sluggish slumber( excessive sleeping on duty). "

Fellow Abians, this is high time we say to no the antics of selfish politicians? Its high time we said no to party and embrace competence and capacity? If we fail to standup to this responsibility of ensuring our dear state gets good representation in all political quarters. Then we have failed our generation.

Brethren, i implore you, fellow youths and statemen, mothers and fathers. I appeal to you to make hay while the sun shines. Abia must be greater again. We are Gods own state. We remain loyal to the cause of positive change. A new Abia state is very possible if we choose and vote wisely a candidate of capacity and blueprint to feature in this new dispensation.

A Gods own state that stood the test of times. Created under the distinguished administration of the lbrahim Badamosi Babangida, the then Military leader of Nigeria.

This is 3decades of various leadership capacity. However, one of the prominent and selfless leadership ever recorded still remains the Orji-Uzor Kalu led administration that spanned between the years of 1999- 2007. That period recorded unprecedented achievements ranging from sports awareness, civil service restructuring, youth empowerment and security conducive environment. Take note, I am no fan of either political leader or aspirants but a passionate Abian with a quest for progressive change in the state.

Needless to dwell on the waterloop leadership of Theodore Orji, a man that would be regarded as the worst governor in Nigeria history. Extortion, non payment of civil servants, poor health and insecurities filled the day.

Then came the dark complexioned Ngwa man. At a time, the great people of Abia had hoped to experience light at the end of the tunnel. But it dealt us another blow. Our new leader is referee to as a drunkard, lavishing state resources at unholy partying and occasions. A governor that would entertain a radio interview and proudly say that each woman delivers of a baby in a government clinic would receive #500naira. Shame! My people, shame! At an hour when ex- Anambra governor, Willie Obiano would fute the bills of a poor mother and establish a lasting fund solution to cater for the indigents. At a period the state of Ebonyi would boast of ultra modern medical infrastructure and basic social amenities amidst his challenges with the political jangatums.

Fellow Abians, this is high time we say to no the antics of selfish politicians? Its high time we said no to party and embrace personality? Don't you care about the state of our state. For some of us based in Lagos, Akwa -Ibom, Awka, Akure, Enugu and our close neighbor, Abakilliki. Don't you weep for the absurd state this Gods own state has turned to?

First, the incumbent governor came with a fat lie of paying old debts left by the T.A. Orji administration. Now, 7years down memory lane. There is hardly any concrete projects to hold onto except a long overhead bridge at Osisioma. Suffice to say, that same project was earlier signed by Gov. Orji Uzor.

Brethren, i implore you, fellow youths and statemen, mothers and fathers. I appeal to you to make hay while the sun shines. Abia must be greater again. We are Gods own state. We remain loyal to the cause of positive change.

The coming elections is expected to be a landmark in the nations politics. All eyes are focus on Nigeria polity with several contenders in the race. Amongst them is the youthful Mr Onyeka Nwafor.

Nwafor declared his intention to contest for the seat of the president and proffer lasting solution to the nations varying challenges.

He made this known in a press briefing in Awka during the weekend.The 38 year old economist expert said he is contesting under the political party platform of the National Rescue Movement.

According to him, if elected will use his youthful energy to strategize various sectors of the economy namely, education, health sector and agriculture to build the he nation's economy. He also reiterated his resolve to fight insecurity and corruption.

He noted that he has extensively consulted with his family members, friends, elder statesmen, traditional and religious leaders, genuine business moguls and the masses across the country, "I hereby officially announce my decision to run for the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on the Platform of National Rescue Movement (NRM)".

Describing Nigeria as a country with vast number of highly skilled, gifted and patriotic citizens whose skills, talents and patriotism are being frustrated by the inability of our leaders, both past and present to put in place the enabling system, institutions and policies for the development said, "Over the years, our elected and appointed government officials have made vast majority of our very intelligent teaming youths lose faith in the very fibre that holds us together as an indivisible and indissoluble nation, due to their lack of commitment to their electioneering campaign promises and party agenda. The devastating effects of this anomaly are undeniably manifested in our fast weakening economy, poor education system, prevailing security breaches, unreliable and porous banking system, decline in commercial prospects, inefficient tax administration, ethno-religious crisis, decline in foreign direct investment, skyrocketing unemployment rate, slow and deficient justice system, human rights violation by state and non-state actors, massive corruption in both public and private sectors, capital flight, soaring inflation, unprecedented fall in our Gross Domestic Products, embarrassing rise in foreign debts, ever deteriorating health sector, unprecedented capital flight, massive corrupt practices, housing deficit, epileptic electrical power supply, institutional collapse, poor infrastructure, self-inflicting foreign policies, rural-urban migration, lack of clean water supply, environmental pollution, porous border control, over-dependency on petroleum products, rising poverty rate, unreliable electoral system, intellectual property theft, rise in crime rate, economic sabotage and loss of revenue, threats to national unity etc".

He stated that, "fixing the streams of problems enumerated above requires a holistic focus on the F four key areas of the government functions namely; education, security, health and electrical power supply. Applying a large sum of the nation’s budget to revamping our education system, ensuring security of life and properties, providing a well-equipped health sector and ensuring steady and uninterrupted electrical power supply across the nation will magically eliminate the myriads of problems currently bedevilling our dear nation and place Nigeria on the global limelight".

Nwafor blamed Nigeria's inability to achieve a sustainable efficient system to the continued absence of credible, selfless and purpose-driven leaders in Nigeria’s corridors of power. Our elective and appointive offices are populated by selfish, unpatriotic and power-drunk political musketeers. 

While stating that "Time has come for all electorates across the nation to drop our religious, tribal, ethnic and ideological rivalries and pull our electoral weights together towards making Nigeria a better place for both the rich and the poor. Time has come for all to repent from this unwholesome attitude of mortgaging our collective future for the scrubs that fall from the table of politicians at every electoral season. Time has come for us to temporarily sacrifice our individual comfort, interest and material gratification for the benefits of the generations yet unborn. 

"I am dedicated to bringing the much desired sustainable positive change. I am dedicated to ensuring that the system favours the children of the weak and strong, poor and rich, highly privileged and less privileged. It is my mandate to exterminate the lacuna between the high, middle and low class. It is my mandate to donate a level playing ground to the children of the poor and rich. It is my mandate to activate a system where justice will be accessible and affordable to all and sundry". 

He further admonished that he has demonstrated a convincing degree of patriotism through various social and economic intervention projects to the masses without ethno-religious boundaries or sentiments; which ranges from provision of clean water, free medical outreaches, award of scholarships, poverty alleviation programs, free legal aid to the indigents, skill acquisition and economic empowerment for the middle and small scale business owners, as well as varying security fortification projects with some security agencies. All these I have been able to accomplish and sustain as a non-political office holder.

He, however, urged the citizenry and the party faithfuls to make their choice of candidate not towards the highest bidder, but in the direction of someone with clear-cut agenda and the requisite integrity to deliver on his campaign promises and party agenda. 

Supporting, the Anambra State Chairman, National Rescue Movement, Engr. Leonard Ezenwamma, said NRM is one of the major political movement in Nigeria which has men and women of high pedigree who has what it takes to rescue Nigeria. We are prepared to take the mantle of leadership unlike APC that promised us change and today you can see that they have failed us. He assured citizens to join hands and support for the rescue of the country.

Also speaking, a stakeholder of the party, Chief Gerald Onyebuchi called on the youths to shun those corrupt leaders and embrace one agenda which is to elect a credible youth in the person of Onyeka Nwafor who has what it takes to pilot effectively the affairs our dear country, Nigeria.

The meeting ended with light refreshment, music and solidarity fecilitations amongst members.

.... Rebuffs claims by estranged husband

The celebrity couple are at it again. Their nagging has taken another shape.

Nkechi Blessing short form called NBS has reacted after her estranged, Honorable Opeyemi had accused her of wearing an underwear for 3 days

Recall that Opeyemi had apologized to Nkechi Blessing a few days back and in a recent development when asked why he did so, he asserted that he just wanted ‘bygone to be bygone’.

He went on to state that one of the reasons he left the actress is due to her uncleanliness. According to him, she wears a pant for 3 days without washing it and finds it difficult to even brush her mouth.

Reacting to this, Nkechi Blessing revealed that she hasn’t worn a pant since she was 18. She further mocked the Ekiti State politician’s apartment by calling it a rat hole.

This is the third time the couple is washing their linen in public. Could this be true? Or maybe a fallacy to attack his ex wife?

Awka, the state capital of Anambra witnessed a heavy downpour this evening as it rained cats and dogs. The rain which started at around 4:12 pm came with heavy torrents. In not less than 20 minutes of falling, the drainages located within the roads connecting to Arthur Eze with the expressway was filled to capacity forcing the contents of refuse being dumped in the drainage flow out with force.

"The rains was heavy, and a little girl of about 12 years was almost drowned while crossing to the other side but for the swift action of passersby, she was saved. "

He appealed to the Soludo led administration to assist residents and business owners in ensuring the area is among the places to be cleared of all refuse sites.

Another, a fruit seller, Nneka(Surname withheld) lamented the state of the Unizik Junction during rainy days. She said a quick intervention of the government in ensuring a clean and hygenic environment will be encouraging for both buyers and sellers alike.

Recall, that the government kickstarted a programme of clearing refuse dump sites starting from the commercial areas of Onitsha, Ogbaru and others as an avenue to achieve a clean and hygienic society as enumerated in the Soludo Manifesto.

All road leads to the Light of the Nation state, Anambra as creative arts lovers troop to grace the premiere of the cinema movie, "Psychotic."

Produced by the Radiant Light Visuals , "Psychotic" the movie tells the story of two reporters, Alanna and Nicolas who step out to investigate about a man name Steve who has been in a psychiatric hospital for a crime he didn’t commit. They would discover a world deeper than the ordinary life as an average person. The story is filled with love, betrayal and intrigues.

Speaking to newsmen at a brief press meeting, the director of the movie, Ben Akpoyibo also known as The Creator expressed excitement over the success of the project.

He explained that the story has a great impact on our society because many individuals goes into pain and struggles they know nothing about, just like Steve who has been in this cell for 22years. He is just a common man subjected to a suffering that chained him against his will.

The movie premiere will hold today being 10th April,2022 at the popular Annabel Cinemas in Awka at exactly 5pm prompt.

Akpoyibo is an upcoming artistic director extraordinaire with lots of creative ingenuity to his credit. He is the CEO, Radiant Light Visuals and has worked with top directors and actors in the Nigerian movie industry.

As the world transist to technologically driven economy, entrepreneurs seems to be thriving hard to meet up daily expectations. Chiamaka Glory Osinem is a baker based in Awka. In this interview with Ifeanyi Ndukwe, the graduate of Home Economics from the University of Nigeria,Nsukka bares her mind in this exclusive interview.

Tell us about yourself?

I'm an indigene of Nise in Awka South. I was born in early 90s to Mr. and Mrs. Osinem. I'm a young growing entrepreneur who derives joy in working my hands to plough. From the very beginning, I love kitchen stuffs like baking. I love trying out new and creative ways of doing things including trying out new recipes . These creative ingenuity led to the birth of a vision called GMAK Cakes.

How did you come about the name GMAK?

It came from a creative coinage of my full names. The letter G stands Glory while MAK is coined from Chiamaka. I am known for cakes and delicious pastries. I run birthday surprises.

What inspired you to choose this path?

My parents were teachers though retired. Naturally I love to teach and impact knowledge. This inspired me to set up GMAK Cakes Academy where I tutor and mentor people on creative bakery of cakes and other pastries.

How did you begin?

I would say the whole journey began at the period of my secondary school. I attended Holy Innocent Juniorate Convent, Nkpor. I was a boarder. During my JSS 3 long vacation, a regular habit my parents do was to enroll each of us into a skill acquisition center unlike the usual norm of enrolling into a lesson center. During one of the long vacations, a certain corp member in my mom schools was paid to tutor me in some skills namely, beading especially beaded bags and bangles.

I decided to put what I learned into practice. I asked my mom to buy materials for beading. Like every average mom, she asked me if it won't disturb my academics and I promised it wouldn't. During free week period(the period after exams when students await for their terminal results), l would use the time to do beads. I did some designs of fancy beaded bags which attracted the attention of some classmates. Some of my them loved it and I collected #100 each from them to teach them. At the senior secondary level, I chose home management against agriculture.

When it was time for my university education. I applied for Radiography but I had initially wanted to study Medicine and Surgery after a career talk.

Surprisingly, my dad has a policy of one sitting for UTME. And it worked for him. Well I didn't get any. Then, I was advised to take up Home Economics Education instead of waiting for one extra year.

At my 300 level, I went for my IT. Unlike other students who paid for their log book to be marked. I wanted to work and learn something. Thus, I found myself at Spinach Fastfood located at 33,Onitsha. During my stay, I persuaded the manager for a spot at the kitchen since I was posted at the bar. I appealed to the baker to always call my attention anytime she wants to bake. So when the manager saw my passion to learn and work hence he switched me to the kitchen section.

Back to school, I decided to put the knowledge I had to practice. One day while I shared my experience and plans with a friend, her roommate stepped in and joined the discussion. She was elated and explained that she had same vision as mine. We were overwhelmed with passion and excitement. That same week, we went to a cybercafe and printed flyers and went on a one on one reachout to customers especially at the student lodges. On the matriculation day, we carried a table and displayed our products. Interestingly, we sold out all cakes at the matriculation ground.

That was how the business started. Customers will either call me or my partner, Uche to place orders. As I approached my finals, l had a bigger picture in mind. My relocation to a new hostel put a stop to the partnership with Uche.

On how I became a household name in South East bakery industry?

One day, I was invited to a friend's birthday. I was embarrassed that she didn't patronise me but the standard of the product was superb. After my final exams, I approached her and asked her to give me the contact of the baker. Immediately after my final exams, I had already made up my mind on what steps to take. So, from school, I was headed to my aunty place because it was close to the new place of learning.

Kindly share with us an experience you had with dealing a difficult client?

There is this lady I met on Facebook. She was to celebrate a house warming on 30th Dec. The same day was a date for my sister's wedding. As you know, I wanted to give it my all. By then, I had not learnt to preserve a cake. It was a house cake design. Two days to delivery, I noticed the cake has changed taste. I was confused and decided to deliver it like that. But I did an equivalent of it with no designs. The client was infuriated and literally slapped me over the phone. I tried to apologize amicably but it fell on deaf ears. Just two months ago, my phone rang and guess what, it was her. I wanted to be sure she didn't make a mistake by dialing my number. When the phone rang a second time, I picked up. She appraised the second cake and also booked for another one for her sister's engagement cake.

Describe your most challenging project?

Well, GMAK is made of a cake studio, events and decor. It was challenging handling event such as the Valentine Eve Dinner concert. The process of hosting the program was demanding and hectic. It was held on Valentine eve, a day before Valentine. Its a special pet project where loved ones hang out with one another. There was music, movie watching, comedy, dance and game competitions. The maiden edition was held at the Finotel hotels, Awka this year.
The idea was birthed after watching a Nollywood movie titled in appreciation, "Super Star" featuring Nancy Isime and a stellar of acts. In the movie, guests were invited for a special book review night in a love garden where all were seated on the ground.

Share your experience in your social responsibility to the society?

I believe we rise by lifting others. Honestly I wish I have more than enough to feed the poor in the streets. it was very emotional and inspirational moments. Each season of my birthday celebration comes with different messages of hope and love. Last year, I distributed food and drinks to the poor and malnourished in the streets. Two years ago, we visited the prison yard to support and feed them. This year birthday celebration prompt the need to share knowledge so I was inspired to teach and equip people with the baking skills.

If you were not baking. What other prospect would you be into?

I'd always wanted to be in the medical line. I'd always loved to care for people. If I had gotten admissions to study Radiography , I strongly believe I wouldn't be in this country by now. (Smiles) since I'm slim, I would have taken to modeling.

Were there moments you felt like quitting?

There were down moments. My love for God propel me to keep pushing. I'd always encourage myself, "Chiamaka, God has brought you this far not to fail you'. There has been ups and downs but the God factor has set me apart as the Scripture says, 'a diligent man shall stand before kings and not mean men.' I trust my instincts and have my heart set on Gods agenda. These are motivating factors to inspire me to head on inspite of the prevailing circumstances.

What defines GMak cakes different from others?

Transparency. When a client places an order, I put my ability to ensure that he/she gets the best. At times, I may get a client angry due to some unforeseen lapses. But what keeps them coming is my humble nature in handling the situation professionally.

According to her, Our judges are professionals, from what we have been doing when we started till date. We keep religiously to the rules and regulations of the contest to ensure that all the contestants are treated fairly and without bias. During the audition, there are tasks that are given to the contestants through which they are assessed. Our results would be based on the thorough examination we would conduct throughout the days that the contestants would be in the house for screening,” she explained.

Meanwhile, Okwudili explained that the grand finale for this year’s contest is slated for 26th October, 2022 and forms are already on sale at the cost of N5,000 for those who would purchase it within the month of April, and N7,000 for those buying after April, 2022.

He announced that forms are already on sale at the designated centres including Obyno Photo Studio, Enugu, Lion FM, Nsukka, all the BetNaija shops in Nsukka, and the OCO World head office at Enugu Road, Nsukka, among other designated outlets. The second edition of the Aguata Community Shield football competition will begin on Thursday being 24th February. The first game is expected to kick off at the Amesi Secondary school, in Aguata local government area of Anambra state.

Fourteen registered communities in Aguata are expected to compete in the tournament while the overall winner goes home with the grand prize. The competition will showcase all manner of entertaining football skills and techniques to the admiration of the spectators.

The competition is being sponsored by the Founder and CEO,Tropical Gate Foundation for Sustainable Development, Apostle Nnamdi Mbaigbo, as part of the organisation's mission in harnessing potentials through sports and skills trainings and development.

The tournament which is slated to take place at the Central School, Amesi will begin by 1pm daily with communities like, Isuofia, Amesi, Umuona, Ezinifite, Umuchu, Ekwulobia, Achina, Akpo, Nkpologwu, Igbo-ukwu, Uga, Aguluezechukwu, Oraeri and Ikenga in participation.

Chairman of the Local Organising Committe(LoC) , Dr Whyte Nwankwo said this year's second edition of the tournament is expected to promote deeper cordial relationship and strengthen communities ties in spirit of sportsmanship and oneness.

Accordimg to him, "The competition is among all the fourteen communities in Aguata LGA. The LOC has put up all the necessary logistics for a smooth kick off for tomorrow, Thursday February 24th 2022 at Central School Amesi.

'The defending Champion, Isuofia will be playing the first match at 1pm tomorrow. The general public, football scouts and other football enthusiasts are invited to come and witness football at its best in Aguata, " he stated.

A renown Igbo Newsmaker, a celebrated Scholar, astute Politician and a Social Scientist, Professor Udenta Udenta has described any aspirant from Southwest and certain parts of Nothern Nigeria jostling to contest for the office of the President of the country come 2023 as a Politician without conscience.

Prof. Udenta who made this known during an interraction with newsmen said he was particularly suprised that men in the calibre of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and the former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar could be running around campaigning for Presidency when both are very much aware that their zones had for several years at one time or the other interchanged as President or Vice President respectively, even till date with Osinbajo as Vice President.

Prof Udenta who was vividly pained, in an emotionally laden gesture lamented that, how could some people who were assumed to have human conscience continued to pretend as if a section of the country who laboured, sacrificed and put in so much for the unity and development of the nation, does not exist.

Continuing, Prof Udenta stated that, "for me, there is no way that Obasanjo 8 years of Presidency, Osinbanjo 8 years of Vice Presidency should not translate into a clear, visible, unambiguous statement for power to shift to that part of the South that has not experienced this Presidential power after all the sacrifices of Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, Dr Ezeife and Alex Ekwueme and the rest of them.

Prof. Udenta said, "Let me explain few myths to further buttress my bearing, "Falaye and late uncle Bola Ige squared off at the Royal Hotel in Ibadan and Falaye won and became the AD candidate, the same way Obasanjo defeated Ekwueme and emerged as PDP candidate. The rovan selection was a Southwest selection of the AD.

However, Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife who is alive today, purchased the N1million form of the Alliance for Democracy to participate in that process and won a strong vote of the Southeast and Southsouth of the country, but the expanded meeting of the AD leadership, the National Working Committee (NWC), National Executive Committee (NEC), the caucus of the party, the Board of Trustees, the owners of the party met at the Cultural Centre opposite UTC to decide between Falaye and Ezeife who will be candidate of the party. Our leader who was my father, Arthur Nwankwo actually misfired that day; he knows from his grave that I am not lying, and the Southeast and Southsouth went up in anger, led by Bassey Ekpo Bassey. We had entire North, Southeast and Southsouth with us, Ezeife had beaten Olu Falaye right there in that hall, but after three, four, five hours of robust conversation, they asked Ezeife to step down and he graciously did so and raised the hands of Olu Falaye. That was how Falaye became the candidate of the Party."

"Therefore, the Southwest of this country should know that they stand morally disqualified to run for the office of the President until the Southeast has taken their turn, and whoever is in the Southwest called by whichever name presenting himself for 2023 Presidential seat, for me, is rapacious, in his appetite and insufferably greedy to seek for the office." he said.

Explaining further, the Prof stated that the second thing worth noting in the interaction is that he was the founding Secretary for the Alliance for Democracy in 1998 and secretary of the AD/APP Alliance, that the election was between PDP on one flank and AD/APP on another flank, explaing that, that was why the faceoff between Falaye and Obasanjo .

Prof. Udenta further stated that "being the Secretary of the summit of the two aligning parties, the AD/APP, I am in the a very comfortable position to announce and declare that nobody can talk about this forth republic without me. Quote me, no Nigerian born and alive can discuss the formation principles and historical emergence of this Republic and the forces that shaped it’s direction and trajectory without putting Udenta O, Udenta’s view points, practice and performance into consideration.

He explained that, that was the sacrifice of the Southeast block for a Southwest presidential quest. That is a historical record. I was the secretary of the AD and I have the records in my file. On the side of APP, His Excellency Dr Ogbonnaya Onu who is a serving minister today, won the primary of the party at Kaduna, we abandoned him to his fate, but he didn’t step down, he didn’t negotiate his away and didn’t sell it, we went ahead and formulated the AD/APP Alliance that produced Falaye and Shinkafi.

It was an attempt to have a stable Nigeria, a peaceful Nigeria coming from the crisis of June 12 struggle and the tragic mandate of Abiola. When Dr Ogbonnia Onu got to know about it, he didn’t alter a word, he didn’t call a conference to disown it. He worked with the party towards it’s electoral fortune even though we didn’t win. That is another high sacrifice of Igbo political leader for the emergence of what became a consensus arrangement between two Yoruba sons.

So today, when they talk about zoning to the South, so far, the construct of zoning to the South is fraudulent, mischievous, duplicitous and full of concealment of intentions. It’s based on false binary of the North and South, as if these two entities are without subdivisions or subunits, structural units in them.

When you talk of the South, it consists of the Southeast, Southwest and Southsouth, and so it is possible for one zone out of the three in the South to perpetually grab the Presidency and hold it firm to themselves alone to the exclusion of the other two and then hide under this false narrative of equity and justice, the Power shift from the North to the South is a generic indeterminate shift, it doesn’t specify for me which side the power should go.

Therefore, there is need for a clear-cut definition of the South in the powershift and the politics of rotational arrangement to allow only people from the Southeast extraction present candidates for the office of the President otherwise the best alternative way to go for Ndigbo is to pitch tent with Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State from the Northeast, the part of the North that is also marginalized

The popular Oma event center located at the heart of Awka hosted men of timber and calibre from political, royal, academic and business class as they trooped to honour and celebrate distinguished Senator Victor Umeh OFR for his immense contributions to the development of Anambra Central Central Senatorial District and Anambra State at large.

The stakeholders made a clarion call, demanding the return of Victor Umeh (Ohamadike) to the Senate to represent the people's interest at the 10th Senate giving his bold and courageous performance at the floor of the 8th Senate.

Several of the guests made reference to the leadership acumen and large heart of the senator and made stance of his magnamity and capacity to make an impactful representation, referencing the various bills and motions sponsored by the distinguished senator during his short stay at the 8th Senate.

Some of them includes, a motion on illegal confinement of underage offenders and infants in the same prison with adults prisoners, urgent need to appoint a representative of the south east into the National Defense Council and the National Security council, as well as bill on Federal University of Education Aguleri, Anambra State, which was given favourable considerations by the Federal government amongst other landstride achievements.

The Covener of the programme, High Chief Ben Obi in his address described Umeh as a man of integrity.

According to him " Senator Umeh did not miss a plenary session. His voice was loud that every Igbo man began to hear the activities of this proud and illustrious son of ndi Igbo at the 8th Assembly.

According to him, the seat of the Presidency demands a person with indepth capacity and prestige to lead the frontiers of the economy forward,
"Igbo presidency have to do with someone who has the capacity, somebody who has the indepth knowledge of electionery procedures.

'He must have good records and reputation, if you put someone without capacity, I assure you that even if the Igbos have all political parties to contest in, we won't still make it, this is very important and so I support the move for a president from an Igbo extraction."

He further butressed that the idea to support an Igbo presidency in the forthcoming elections will position the region with a high sense of purpose and unify their voice as one.

The Senator however noted that for Igbos to have a leader that speaks for all, there is need for commitment, proper monitoring of activities, government of inclusiveness among others from such individual.

In his remarks, National President of the association, Dr Patrick Enuneku, stressed that South -East should be involved in the top leadership status of Nigeria for the country to enjoy the dividends of democracy. The attention of Dr Maduka Foundation has been drawn over the false rumour circulating on social media by some unscrupulous naysayers who are bent on tarnishing the image of our great candidate, Dr Godwin Maduka of Accord party.

A statement signed and made available to pressmen by the media foundation team during the weekend has called on Ndi Anambra and party faithfuls to ignore the false news, peddling on social media by the Peoples Democratic Party online forum.

The statement reads, " it's unfortunate that some unserious individuals have bent on tarnishing the image of Dr Godwin Maduka of Accord Party just to jeopardize his intentions of bringing Anambra state to a more progressive and inclusive development".

Be informed that Dr Maduka's integrity and principles which depicts him of a good philanthropist and true leader cannot and never descend so low to such false rumours.

His years of experiences as a medical professional has earned him an international reputation and honour, therefore he cannot indulge in such inhumane act.

The statement further urged Ndi Anambra to remain resolute, and unperturbed but accept the false accusation as one of the propaganda been carried out by those who do not mean well for our dear state. Hence, it is paramount to note that those behind the ungodly act will soon be put to shame.

Annual Zik lecture series holds sway in Awka

The peaceful capital city of Anambra, Awka welcomed leaders from various levels of the leadership hierarchy as they graced the the annually held Zik lecture series. This year theme, "Security, governance and nation building" had various speakers lay bare on the matters arising.

In his keynote speech, the guest speaker of the occasion, the governor of Ekiti state, Kayode Fayemi said Zik was a truly versatile person who built himself through hardwork. According to him, the nationalist played a vital role in ensuring freedom from colonial rule in Nigeria and African countries.

"His works remain a classic touch to the freedom and emancipation of most African countries.
He was a true Nigerian who spoke the three major languages of the country. He has the genius to translate and transmit his messages to others in very quintessential manner.

He maintained that embracing patriotism was key to enhance all round development.

"However the challenges of nation building is not only peculiar to Nigeria only. It is prevalent in other countries in pan African. For the nation to live, the idea of tribalism must die and all indifferences in opinions must be reconciled amicably.

"His legacy was to envision a country where language or tribe or religion was an object of esteem value in unifying all aspects of rather than of chaos or clash of interest. "

Fayemi reiterated that national development cannot be achieved without tackling the various challenges of insecurity and bad governance.

He called for dialogue among the various agitating groups, "regardless of the ills of the society, war or violence is never the answer to the issues of nationhood, "he stated.

On the same vein, the traditional ruler of Onitsha, Obi Achebe expressed delight on the organizers and showered accolades for recognizing and immortalising the great nationalist, Nnamdi Azikiwe

"Today is remarkable as it reminds us of the great virtues played by the Zik of Africa. "

The People's Democratic Party(PDP) held its mega campaign rally at the popular Alex Ekwueme Square in canvassing support for its candidate, Valentine Ozigbo. The programme had in attendance all party faithfuls from the Federal,State,and local government levels of power.

In his opening remarks, the newly elected chairman of the party, Senator Ayuh welcomed everyone to the auspicious event. He urged all stakeholders to work in unison and solidarity so as to obtain the target goals and objectives.

Also speaking at the occasion, former governor and Vice President aspirant, Peter Obi lamented the state of affairs in the state. He urged the people to seize opportunity to change the narratives.

"We urge the people to take back their state because it has collapsed. The state has remained where I left it eight years ago. The roads and other amenities including infrastructures have gravely depreciated, while the state owes more than N120billion in debt."

In his address, Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde said that the race for the governorship position is not a battle between good and evil. Rather, it is the choice for the best material. According to him, Ozigbo is the authentic machine that would pilot the job of the governor effectively.

On his support, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa, Delta state governor urged the youths to take proactive actions in the elections come this Saturday. He urged the youths to be strong and courageous.
Okowa affirmed that the recently conducted national convention of PDP which produced new leadership of the party has sent clear signals that it is ready to take back Nigeria.
"It is time for us to come together and clinch the seat of the governor. This election is for you. It is high time we believed in ourselves and support the party by voting PDP."

In his keynote speech, Chairman VCO campaign council, Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu urge voters to vote for Ozigbo to ensure continuous dividends of democracy.

Meanwhile, the PDP candidate, Valentine Ozigbo who was presented the flag of the party pledged to implement his manifesto if elected into office. He said the rate at which supporters of other political parties are decamping to PDP is a sign of good things to come.

“Everyone in the state is angry and wants something new. I will give Anambra a new life if I become governor.

" I'm here for the unemployed. I'm here for the student who needs to get help to get better and affordable education. I'm here for the total restoration of leadership, to take Anambra to a higher glory, "he said.

As the momentum gears in anticipation for *Anambra decides* come November 6th. Every candidate is ready for the ultimate price.

The PDP frontier, Valentine Ozigbo, an experienced global business magnate and philanthropist will be gladly ushered with the baton of leadership expectedly to administer affairs of the *Light of the Nation*

Ozigbo story could be liken to the popular Hollywood TV series,The Legend of the Seeker. Being a fan of educative and inspiring movies and artworks, I am positive to affirm that the story of Ozigbo success and victories follows the plot of the aforementioned movie.

Ozigbo fills the character of the Seeker who must fight to save his people from the evil forces of Darken Rahl(opposition parties). Permit me to borrow some important characters who will play reprisal roles in this game of thrones.

While the three characters of the wizard Zedd, the Mother Confessor, Kahlan and Cara, the Mord-Sith all represent the players who are the teamship of the PDP party, the volunteers, the media team and also, importantly, the voters.

The Seeker, Ozigbo, must learn and adapt holistic stratagems to overcome his antagonists. However, bear in mind that inspite of his good thoughts towards his people, some will deafen their ears and shut their minds with brass. Why? You ask. Because the status quo of the present APGA administration has overwhelmed their existence and increased doubts for a change. But like the wizard's magic wand, help will come at the peak of the moment.

I apologize if I bore you with the details. But as you'd agree, life as a Nigerian citizen especially as an Anambra indigene has become a survival of the fittest. The struggle of faith shall prevail.

Interestingly, the episode that catches my most fantasy in the Terry Goodkind epic drama follows the story of a 12year old boy who possesses the gift of inner listening. This rings a bell of attention. Notably, the day of election is going to be replete with occurrences of various uncertainties. Nevertheless, like the inspiring little boy of 12, the winner being, Valentine Ozigbo, would scale through in a quintessential scenario.

Every candidate has come up with their different manifestos, promising us a land flowing with milk and honey. Beautiful as their words may seem. But rarely, has anyone explained the necessary factors to implement in actualising the goal to upgrade the state with Ozigbo as an exception.

Every step he takes is steadily coordinated to fashion a speedy recovering of the state' image as the *Light of the Nation*. The blueprint, *Ka Anambra Chawapu*,is the most simplified, concise and actualisable manifesto ever presented by any candidate in this gubernatorial race.

It is hightime we took our stand against all odds and machinations regardless of distractions hitting from all four walls. Fellow countrymen, kindly consider the following questions. Would you rather vote a candidate with proven records of accountability or chose a man who is in the wanted list of foreign security agencies for embezzlement and money laundering? Would you chose a man with a plan to restore and upgrade the welfare of your status over a mean man who has been oweing his staff inclusive of a soccer team for months but flaunts as a showmanship to intimidate others? Think brother. Would you rather chose the false claim of a trending party over one with visionary revolution. Think, I say again, think.

This day cometh as you and I decide to change the narrative by casting our votes and full support to the PDP frontier, Valentine Ozigbo, to lead us to our rightful position.

Firstly, Ozigbo is no fan of godfatherism. He is a brilliant and confident Christian who believes in God and shares maximum faith in achieving his visions by merit and by grace. Except for politics, those who have known him for quite some time will attest to his meek and meticulous manner of focus and discipline in achieving his goals.

Ozigbo made it clear from the very beginning in the race that he had no godfather. So, such charge of fulfilling a godfather's intent against the will of the people is ludicrous.

A youth of his calibre who happened to have grown under the auspices of a headmaster as a father must have earned his privileges and accomplishments through hardwork and special skills. It takes a whole lot of competence, integrity and vision to stay the course of a multi-billion naira company and the many institutions that he transformed to total success across all borders.

Even in his style of politics, the manner he plays it sends a defining signal of humility, sense of responsibility and politics of inclusion. It may not be public knowledge but his present position as a PDP flagbearer did not come on a platter of gold. He experienced huge challenges along that rugged path.

A closer look into his *KA ANAMBRA CHAWAPU MANIFESTO* details a conscious effort to reposition the state and make her an enviable site of attraction for business and industrialisation.

The Five pillar cluster plans involving the major towns in Anambra State is aimed at promoting total transformation in the state.

Interestingly, the worst of Valentine Ozigbo critics cannot deny that he has the capacity and experience to move the state to higher levels if elected on November, 6. You would agree with me that those opposed to his governorship campaign are nursing their grievances because they fear he will not succumb to their manipulations.

Ozigbo is an accomplished selfless man who possess the required qualities and cognitive competence to run Anambra State. The PDP flagbearer, Valentine Ozigbo, has reiterated his readiness to serve and lead the state as momentum gears for the highly anticipated gubernatorial elections billed to hold in November 6th, 2021.

Ozigbo made this charge while addressing the pan-Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohaneze Ndigbo, Anambra state chapter at King David Hotel, Awka. In his words, the awardwinning business magnate said that the state has continued to deteriorate on a regular basis because people have become accustomed to the status quo and are not motivated enough to demand change,

"when I decided to run for office, a lot of people tried to discourage me. But I realised that even with my success in the corporate sector, I would never be fulfilled if I do not play my part in fixing my home, Anambra.

" l am inspired, driven, and prepared to serve Ndi Anambra, "he stated.

He maintained that the state as well as the nation has the necessary resources, people, and intellects in abundance to stand out in all ramifications.

"This election is a call to action. We must change our story now that we have the time. We don't lack resources, people, and intellect. What we lack is exemplary leadership, entrenching competence, and imbibing a culture of continuous improvement.

"Nigeria holds the key to liberating the black race, and I believe the Igbos must play a vital role in that liberation."

Ozigbo called on all stakeholders to vote for the PDP in the forthcoming elections. According to him, a skillful leader with a plan to diversify economy and promote continuous improvement plus moral and emotional intelligence is what qualifies him, " l am running for governor so that Anambra can become an example of what can happen when a people tap into the unlimited possibilities available to them.

"This is the time to get it right and set Anambra on a path of sustainable development, and this is only possible when we have the right person, in the right party, emerging through the right process, and giving the right promise."

Presenting his manifesto, Ka Anambra Chawapu (Let Anambra Glow), to the group, Ozigbo assured them of good governance that would ensure continuous growth and development in all sectors of the economy.

"Before the PDP primary election, we toured the 21 local government areas in the state and asked Ndi Anambra their expectations. Their answers formed the basis for the Ka Anambra Chawapu Manifesto.

"Our cluster, sectors and partnership approaches to development are well documented and has been widely accepted by a majority of Ndi Anambra people. We will evolve a system that will make Anambra more competitive and most importantly, engage the youths with entertainment, sports, and technology. "

In his remarks, the President-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo in Anambra State, High Chief Emeka Udedeme, said although Ohaneze Ndigbo is apolitical, the group is open to interacting with all candidates to see their manifesto and discuss their plans for Ndi Anambra.

Chief Udedeme hailed Ozigbo for running an exemplary campaign devoid of violence and negativity.

While making a brief address, the leader of Ohaneze Ndigbo in South-Eastern Nigeria, High Chief Ogene Okeke, expressed his delight with Ozigbo for meeting with the group, thanking him for his impressive presentation.

African Democratic Congress candidate for the Anambra gubernatorial elections, Sullivan Nwankpo has reiterated his plans to govern the state if he wins the forthcoming elections this November, 2021.

Nwankpo made this known while fielding questions on the sidelines at a press conference in Awka. He said he is going to place security of lives and properties and provision of basic social infrastructures as among top priority in his manifesto.
" my administration will take cognizant consideration of adequate security and provision of social amenities that is very vital to further improve the well-being of the people. "

He appealed to the good people of Anambra state to come out enmasse to cue behind and support the party so that the dream of Anambra being the best amongst other states will be accomplished. He blamed fellow politicians of scheming the people to achieve their selfish interest, "the problem with Anambra is vote buying and crooks have been buying the state and managing it based on the transactions they did with us, the electorates. That system must be addressed. "

He affirmed that his system of government will employ the egalitarian style. This, he responded, regarding questions to his campaign tour. "One fundamental program the ADC will observe is the inclusion of the Umunnas into the government. My government will create Anambra state monistry of Umunna affairs; a system whereby state affairs is handled by the electorates. Every Umunna will get a seat and a voice in the government. This will spur faster development in all communities and towns, "he stated.

He said the reason behind his choice is based on accountability and transparency.

"Under the system of Umunna kindred as practiced by our fathers. The elections were open and free of irregularities. In such, bribes we're forbidden. When we elect them, we cannot insult them. No doubt, the peoples and residents of Anambra would appreciate and embrace the PDP flagbearer as their new leader because of his triangular personality.

Firstly, Ozigbo is a business leader. It is gainsaying to understand and appreciate the role he played at various sectors of the economy. As a banker, he worked tirelessly to achieve extraordinary results in the banking industry. To top the games, he made it to head the largest investment company, Transnational Corporation which is involved in oil and gas, tourism and hospitality management. His method of management is what he termed, "Kaizen"(a Japanese word for excellent effective management and controls). The name Val rings a bell to every average Nigerian because his reputation precedes his personality. Like an edifice, Valentine Ozigbo rise in career and business did not come suddenly. It was a case of determination and boldness fighting to stay on course amidst challenges. You would agree that the man had began his journey of a thousand miles by taking a leap on each step.
His passion to serve and impact to humanity could be traced to his younger days in Christ the Redeemers College in Amesi, Anambra state. There, Ozigbo represented the school in various competitions. His brilliance was quite inspirational. Little wonder, the school management had to recruit the budding star to assist in teaching science courses like Physics and Maths while he await his admissions into the university.
By the time he was offered admissions in the accounting department of University of Nigeria, Nsukka, the Leo star born took the bulls by its horns to harness his full potentials of being an accountable and resourceful person. As usual, he performed outstandingly and graduated successfully with the best result in both Accounting and Business Administration in the year 1994.
Undeterred by prevailing circumstances, Ozigbo went further to obtain his Masters in banking and finance in the year 2000 as well as an MSC in finance analysis with distinction from the Lancaster University, UK later in 2004.
Infact, it would premix to use the terms accountability and integrity in place of his person as these two characteristics defined his modus operandi style of management and leadership. For instance, as CEO of Transcorp Hotels, he oversaw its expansion across various popular cities in Nigeria and a consolidation of it's status quo as the leading hospitality hub in the country. Under his management, the company went public with an initial offer of 8billion which investors oversubscribed.
